- Animal sacrifices are impossible in this age due to the scarcity of expert brahmanas or rtvijah who are able to take the responsibility. In the absence of these, the sankirtana-yajna is recommended. After all, sacrifices are executed to please the SPG
- Animal, sometimes facing enemy, close the eyes, as if there is no enemy, so they do like that. Children, when there is danger, they close the eyes. They have no other means to escape. So these people, they close the eyes. "There is no life after death."
- Animate or inanimate - these two things we see in our experience. But above this animate and inanimate there is supreme animate. So there are many isvaras, or controllers, but the supreme controller is Krsna
- Another explanation of these verses (CC Madhya 20.108-109) can be found in Adi-lila, Chapter Two, verse 96
- Another meat-eater said, 'Sir, please hear me. Since the day I joked with some Hindus in this way, my tongue chants the Hare Krsna hymn and cannot give it up. I do not know what mystic hymns and herbal potions these Hindus know
- Antardhana means that these living creatures can be perceived to be present, but they cannot be seen by vision
- Any kind of material phenomenon that we observe is subject to these six transformations of material nature - it comes into being, grows, stays for a while, produces some by-products, dwindles, and then vanishes
- Any layman can understand. A person living - a person dead. So why he is dead? Something is missing. So that missing element is important or this body is important? These rascals cannot understand even, so dull brain
- Any living entity who is within this material world, they have come here with that two principles - iccha, dvesa. Iccha means they want to be happy with material enjoyment and "What is God? I am God." These two things
- Any man who is not materially prosperous can take shelter of these great mountains (the Himalayas), and he will be provided with everything required. Both the materialist and the spiritualist can take advantage of the great shelter of the Himalayas
- Any of the parts of His (Krsna's) ananda-cinmaya body can act for any other part. Such are the inconceivable potencies of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Supreme Lord does not need to acquire these potencies; He already has them
- Any person, if he is fortunate enough to hear these teachings (of Bhagavad-gita) from Krsna or from His bona fide spiritual representative, is sure to become a liberated person and get out of the darkness of ignorance. BG 1972 purports
- Any philosopher who takes Krsna also subjected to these, I mean to say, laws of maya, they are called Mayavadi
- Any sincere man will feel obliged of our propaganda movement. "By distributing these books, you are doing a great service to Krsna"
- Any society you conceive, unless there are these four divisions, there will be chaos. It will be . . . not be properly, I mean to say, going on, smoothly going on. There will be some disturbance
- Anyone living on the land adjacent to these rivers (Ganges, Yamuna, Godavari, Kaveri, Krsna and Narmada) is naturally advanced in spiritual consciousness
- Anyone reading our Krsna book, NOD, Teachings of Lord Caitanya and BG will certainly become a Krsna conscious person. Someway or other we have to push these literatures, whether through schools, colleges, libraries, membership or ordinary sales
- Anyone who attentively hears these discourses and instructions of Lord Caitanya to Sanatana Gosvami very soon attains to Krsna consciousness and engages in devotional service to the Lord
- Anyone who distributes these transcendental literatures, he is also benefitted. Therefore sankirtana is the prime benediction for the age
- Anyone who does not accept the spiritual form of the Supreme Lord is counted among the atheists. Because Lord Buddha did not accept these Vedic principles, the Vedic teachers consider him an atheist
- Anyone who has practiced controlling these six (the tongue, the genitals, the belly, anger, the mind and words) is permitted to make disciples all over the world. To accept such a spiritual master is the crucial point for advancement in spiritual life
- Anyone who hears these (the killing of Sisupala and Jarasandha and the releasing of the imprisoned kings) narrations from authorized persons will immediately be freed from all the reactions of the sinful activities of his life
- Anyone who is engaged in devotional service without any adulteration, he can surpass these three qualities of material
- Anyone who knows these three Visnus (Maha-Visnu, known as mahat-tattva, Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Ksirodakasayi Visnu) can be liberated from material entanglement. BG 1972 purports
- Anyone who takes his bath in the Ganges also (like Bindu-sarovara) is relieved of all material diseases. These claims are accepted by great scholars and authorities and are still being acted upon even in this fallen age of Kali
- Anything which changes is called temporary, or asat. We should know that beyond these temporary senses are our permanent senses, which are now covered by the material body
- Anything which I own, that should be utilized for my purpose. Your things should be utilized for your purpose. So if God is the proprietor of our senses, then these senses must be used for God's purpose. That is the constitutional position
- Anything, it requires four pillars. So to remain steadily on the platform of dharma, these four legs required: dharma, artha, kama, moksa
- Anyway, meat-eating, intoxication, illicit sex, as soon as one takes to Krsna consciousness movement, these four pillars of sinful life is immediately broken
- Apart from these fifty qualities, there are five other qualities found in the Supreme Personality of Godhead that are partially present in demigods like Siva
- Apart from these sixty transcendental qualities, Krsna has an additional four transcendental qualities, which are not manifested even in the personality of Narayana
- Arjuna addresses the Lord as Madhusudana because Krsna once killed a demon named Madhu. Actually these questions (of BG 8.2), which are of the nature of doubts, should not have arisen in the mind of Arjuna because Arjuna is a KC devotee. BG 1972 purports
- Arjuna expresses himself through the grace of Krsna. If we want to understand Bhagavad-gita, we should accept the statements in these two verses (BG 10.12-13). This is called the parampara system, acceptance of the disciplic succession. BG 1972 purports
- Arjuna inquired: O my dear Lord, by which symptoms is one known who is transcendental to these three modes? What is his behavior? And how does he transcend the modes of nature?
- Arjuna was maha-ratha. Still, these commanders were very, very powerful. But by the grace of Krsna he could kill Karna, he could kill Bhisma, he could kill Dronacarya, and came out victorious
- Arjuna would like to know which of these two types of transcendentalists (the impersonalist, and the personalist) is more perfect in knowledge. BG 1972 purports
- Arrogance, pride, anger, conceit, harshness and ignorance - these qualities belong to those of demonic nature, O son of Prtha. BG 16.4 - 1972
- Artharthi means in need of money. People generally go to church (or) temple when they are suffering from some ailments or need of money, these two classes
- Artificial needs of life are activities of the senses. Modern advancement of civilization is based on these activities of the senses, i.e., it is a civilization of sense gratification. Perfect civilization is the civilization of atma, or the soul proper
- As a beggar sannyasi, a mendicant, I wish to live alone in a solitary place, but these people come to tell Me about their unhappiness and disturb Me
- As a householder, Prthu Maharaja had five sons by his wife, Arci, and all these sons were begotten as he desired them. They were not born whimsically or by accident
- As a resident of Vrndavana, Krsnadasa Kaviraja offered his respects to the Deities in these temples (of Madana-mohana, Govindaji and Gopinatha) and requested God's favor: "My progress in spiritual life is very slow, so l'm asking Your help"
- As a resident of Vrndavana, Krsnadasa Kaviraja offers his respects to the Deities in these temples and requests God's favor: "My progress in spiritual life is very slow, so I'm asking Your help" - CC Intro
- As a result of fruitive activities, we have thus been subjected to being beasts of burden for these bodies, & being forced by conditioned life, we have given up the pleasing life of Krsna consciousness. Now we realize that we are the most foolish persons
- As a rich man’s sons often become addicted to wine and women, so these two sons of Kuvera (Nalakuvara and Manigriva) were also addicted to wine and sex
- As a thief is punishable by the state law, similarly, one who takes advantage of these natural facilities and do not acknowledge it and do not offer sacrifice to the Supreme, then he is considered to be a thief
- As a Vaisnava, then, one has ample opportunity to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead simply by reclaiming these conditioned, misled living entities, training them in Krsna consciousness and leading them back home, back to Godhead
- As advised in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.5), sacrifice, charity and austerity should never be given up. Yajno danam tapas caiva pavanani manisinam: even if one is very much advanced in spiritual life, one should not give up these three duties
- As advised in Bhagavad-gita if one transcends these four processes and is actually liberated, one engages in devotional service. Then he is guaranteed not to fall to material existence again
- As already discussed, there are eight kinds of representations of the original form of the Lord. These representations can be produced by the use of clay, stone, wood, paint, sand, etc., depending upon the resources of the devotees
- As an evidence, people are receiving these boys who are chanting and dancing. Out of their love they are contributing something, they are purchasing magazines. So this is sympathy, sign of love
- As confirmed in BG 4.8, the Lord's pastimes consist of paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam - saving the devotees and killing the demons. To demonstrate these activities, the Lord called for devotees from different parts of the universe
- As confirmed in the prayers of Kunti (SB 1.8.19), nato natya-dharo yatha. The Lord was to play the part of a demon-killer, and a friend, son and brother to His devotees, and thus these devotees were all summoned
- As confirmed in the Visnu Purana, whatever manifestations we experience are nothing but various energies of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. These energies cannot create anything independently
- As declared in the Vedas, these two birds, although sitting as friends, are not equal. One is simply a witness. This bird is Paramatma, or the Supersoul. And the other bird is eating the fruit of the tree
- As described by the Lord Himself in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.4-5): Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego - all together these eight comprise My separated material energies
- As explained by Caitanya Mahaprabhu, actually this is not due to practice, for without extra endeavor these symptoms (of chanting and dancing) become manifest in anyone who sincerely chants the Hare Krsna maha-mantra
- As far as the adhidaivika miseries are concerned, these originate with the demigods of the higher planets. For instance, we sometimes suffer from severe cold weather, from thunderbolts, or from earthquakes, tornadoes, droughts or other natural disasters
- As far as the material body is concerned, there are six "waves," or symptomatic material conditions: hunger, thirst, lamentation, bewilderment, old age and death. The liberated soul is never concerned with these six physical interactions
- As far as this material world is concerned, Lord Brahma, Lord Visnu and Lord Siva are all emanations from Krsna. These three incarnations of Krsna are called guna-avataras
- As far as your thinking that you are the king and master and are thus trying to order me, this is also incorrect because these positions are temporary
- As human beings, we should be cognizant that we are suffering the pains of birth, old age, disease and death and should be inquisitive to know how to avoid these miseries
- As husband and wife plan together to attain happiness and decrease unhappiness, working jointly in many ways, but because their activities are full of desires, these activities are never a source of happiness, and they never diminish distress
- As I have advised you, My dear sons, you should act accordingly. Be very careful. By these means you will be freed from the ignorance of the desire for fruitive activity, and the knot of bondage in the heart will be completely severed
- As if catching us by our hair, they forcibly take us away and deliver us unto You to become Your maidservants. Hearing of these incidents, people laugh at us. We have thus become completely subordinate to the flute
- As indicated here (in SB 8.5.44) by the word upasanta-saktaye, His (God's) different energies act, but although He sets these energies in action, He Himself has nothing to do
- As indicated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.1.2), success in these four (religion, material opulence, sense gratification and liberation) kinds of material and spiritual gain are not the true results of devotional service
- As living representative of Krsna, our duty is to save these fallen conditioned souls. That is our duty. One may agree to come or not come. It doesn't matter. You try your best to bring him to this Krsna consciousness position
- As long as the living entity remains conditioned by material nature, he has to act according to his particular mode of nature. If these modes were not acting, then we would not have observed in the phenomenal world different varieties of activities
- As long as these witches remain within the heart, how can one feel transcendental bliss? As long as these two witches remain in the heart, there is no possibility of enjoying the transcendental bliss of devotional service
- As long as we are attached to these designations, we are attached to the body because designations belong to the body. But we are not these bodies, and realizing this is the first stage in spiritual realization. BG 1972 Introduction
- As long as we have these temporary bodies, they give us many varieties of tribulation - adhyatmika, adhibhautika & adhidaivika. This is the root cause of all suffering, but this root cause of suffering can be removed by revival of our Krsna consciousness
- As Lord Krsna states in the Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.4): Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego - all together these eight constitute My separated material energies
- As masters of the conditioned soul, lust and anger are never merciful. Indeed the conditioned soul will never cease rendering service to such bad masters.when he comes to his real consciousness, or Krsna consciousness, he abandons these bad masters
- As one can detect the color of dye a cloth was soaked in by looking at the cloth, so, simply by understanding the different signs of these symptomatic features, one can understand the actual position
- As one can understand the presence of the air by the aromas it carries, so, under the guidance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one can understand the living soul by these three divisions of intelligence
- As president, you must make sure that all the students are regularly chanting 16 rounds, taking bath, attending mangal aratrik, reading our books, and following the regulative principles. If everyone keeps strictly these principles then success is assured
- As recommended in the arcana-marga, one should worship the Deity in the temple and constantly offer obeisances to the spiritual master and the Deity. These processes are recommended to one who actually wants to become free from material entanglement
- As soon as an experienced devotee sees all of these caricatures, he can immediately evaluate such rascaldom. If such a pretender is sometimes seen possessing imitative attachment to Krsna, that will not be accepted as real attachment
- As soon as Krsna desires that these senses will not work, it will not work. So in spite of your claim that this is my hand, this is my eyes, this is my mouth, it will not work
- As soon as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu read the two verses, He immediately tore up the palm leaf. However, all the devotees read these verses on the outside wall, and they all kept them within their hearts. The verses read as follows
- As soon as one enters a holy place, he must observe fasting for the day, and after shaving his head clean, he must take a bath in a river or ocean near the holy place. These methods are adopted to neutralize the effects of sinful activities
- As soon as one's accumulation of pious activities is used up, one has to leave the enjoyment of a higher standard of material prosperity in the heavenly planets, immediately come down again to these lower planets, where the duration of life is very short
- As soon as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu heard these words, He immediately welcomed Raghunatha dasa. "Come here," He said. Raghunatha dasa then clasped the lotus feet of the Lord, but the Lord stood up and embraced him out of His causeless mercy
- As soon as the sinful Ajamila uttered the name Narayana, these four beautiful men immediately arrived and reassured him, saying, "Do not fear. Do not fear"
- As soon as we deteriorate our standard, then everything is spoiled. Therefore I am so much strict about the standard. And our these Western boys, they are always manufacturing ideas
- As soon as you get rid of these bad sinful activities, you are mukta. That is called mukti. And after mukti, tato nistha, then we have got firm conviction: "Yes, Krsna consciousness is the only business." Tato nistha, tato rucih
- As soon as you mix with these so-called babajis, bhajananandis and with three dozen women, you are fallen. Immediately
- As soon as you say "it may be," that means you have no perfect knowledge. As soon as you say "perhaps," that means you have no perfect knowledge. So all these scientists and philosophers, they use these words: "it may be," "perhaps"
- As stated before when I described the incarnations of the material modes (guna-avataras), one should consider that these incarnations also are unlimited and that no one can count them

- As stated by the Lord Himself in Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.4): "Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego - all together these eight comprise My separated material energies"
- As stated in Bhagavad-gita, antavanta ime dehah: these bodies (material body) are destined to be destroyed
- As stated in the Brahma-samhita (BS 5.40), the Brahman effulgence emanating from the body of the Supreme Lord creates innumerable planets in both the spiritual and material worlds; thus these planets are creations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- As stated in the Vedas, the living entity is always separate from two kinds of material bodies - the subtle and the gross. All our sufferings are due to these material bodies
- As such they (those who are rascals, sinners and the lowest of mankind, who are bereft of all intelligence) become implicated and take on so many activities. Most of these activities center around the killing of animals
- As the Bhagavad-gita (BG 4.8) confirms that the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His devotees, saving the righteous and chastising the miscreants (paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam), always curb these nonsensical atheists
- As the elements of the material body are eternal, the living entity who appears through these material elements is also eternal

- Asuras, instead of accepting these instructions (of Bhagavad-gita) directly, make commentaries according to their own whimsical ways and mislead everyone, without profit even for themselves
- At any rate, we must understand the transcendental importance of Mathura-Vrndavana and Navadvipa-dhama. Anyone who executes devotional service in these places certainly goes back home, back to Godhead, after giving up his body
- At Devasthana, Caitanya Mahaprabhu visited the temple of Lord Visnu, and there He talked with the Vaisnavas in the disciplic succession of Ramanujacarya. These Vaisnavas are known as Sri Vaisnavas

- At one such meeting, while he (the brahmana) was very faithfully hearing about Vaisnava activities, he was informed that these activities can be performed even by meditation

- Because of sincere affection, she thought that eating this sukuta would cure the Lord's disease. Considering these affectionate thoughts of Damayanti, the Lord was very pleased
- Because of the devotional service of these two persons (Advaita Acarya and Haridasa Thakura), Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu descended as an incarnation. Thus He preached the holy name of the Lord and ecstatic love of Krsna to deliver the entire world
- Because of the living energy (jiva-bhuta), these separated energies combine to make the cosmic manifestation visible, but in fact, before the creation of the cosmos, the total energy is already present - SB 10.3.15-17
- Because of the union of these sixty daughters (of Daksa) with various exalted personalities that the entire universe was filled with various kinds of living entities, such as human beings, demigods, demons, beasts, birds and serpents
- Because of the winds of the sea, sometimes the sand would form dunes. Such sand dunes are called cataka parvata. Instead of seeing these sand dunes simply as hills of sand, the Lord (Caitanya) would take them to be Govardhana Hill
- Because of their royal exalted posts, all these demons became very much puffed up, and their only business was to harass their subjects. Lord Krsna appeared on this planet just at the end of Dvapara-yuga to annihilate all these demoniac kings
- Because of these floral decorations (the dais, the throne, the walls and the ceiling are all fully decorated, and a small, aromatic fountain of flowers is fixed in the center), the people, fatigued from the heat of the summer, become refreshed
- Because of these flowing rivers, all the people have ample supplies of milk, yogurt, honey, clarified butter (ghee), molasses, food grains, clothes, bedding, sitting places and ornaments
- Because of working in the Muslim government, these three brothers (Rupa Gosvami, Sanatana Gosvami and Anupama) were given the title Mullik
- Because our senses are limited. How you can have the Supreme Truth known by these imperfect blunt senses
- Because people are not educated, they're accepting these rascals as Vedantists. Really, the Mayavadi Vedantists - they are bluffers. They are not Vedantists. They do not know anything of the Vedanta-sutra. That is the difficulty
- Because people are now associating with the modes of ignorance (tamo-guna) and, to some extent, passion (rajo-guna), with no trace of goodness, they are becoming increasingly greedy and lusty, for that is the effect of associating with these modes
- Because the devotees would be pleased to see these activities (pastimes of the Lord) personally, they were all invited to take birth as friends and relatives of these families - Yadu and Vrsni dynasties and the inhabitants of Vrndavana
- Because the land (of Vrndavana) is identical with the Lord (Krsna), devotees like Uddhava and Vidura visited these places five thousand years ago in order to have direct contact with the Lord, visible or not visible
- Because the Lord is on the absolute platform, there is no difference between the holy name of the Lord and the Supreme Lord Himself. There are different names for the Supreme Lord, and these names have different purposes and meanings
- Because the Lord is situated beyond the three modes of material nature, He is unseen by those who are dominated by these three modes
- Because the reality of these feelings (anxiety, crying etc.) is in the transcendental world, of which this world is only an imitation, mother Yasoda and Rohini enjoyed them transcendentally
- Because the relationship between these cousins (Rukmi and Rukmini) was distant, such a marriage was not uncommon
- Because the three modes of material nature intervene between the Lord and the living beings, these different relationships appear
- Because there are so many, I mean to say, authentic literatures. So if we don't take advantage of these literatures, then we cannot make our life perfect
- Because there is no institution to teach people how to become brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas and sudras or brahmacaris, grhasthas, vanaprasthas and sannyasis, these demons want a classless society. This is resulting in chaotic conditions
- Because there is no Krsna consciousness, there is no culture, these literatures, they are not appreciated
- Because these (demigod) worshipers do not know that when the entire material cosmic manifestation is annihilated, the demigods, who are the departmental heads of that manifestation, will be vanquished
- Because these American boys and girls they are cooperating, this movement is advancing. Otherwise I don't get any cooperation
- Because these important subject matters (science of devotional service) are unknown to the conditioned soul, Lord Caitanya, out of His causeless mercy, instructed Rupa Gosvami in the principles of devotional service
- Because these living entities do not wish to keep their individual existences, they are combined and allowed to remain in Brahmaloka like so many atomic particles of sunshine emanating from the sun
- Because these Mayavadis, they are after mumuksa, so mumuksubhih parityagah, if they are giving up, then phalgu-vairagya. It is called phalgu-vairagya, false renunciation. The world is not false, but the so-called renunciation is false
- Because these narrations (in SB 4.29) are full of the glory of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, they constitute the most effective process for the purification of the mind. As Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu confirmed: ceto-darpana-marjanam - CC Antya 20.12
- Because these people are asuras, they do not know what to do in this human form of life and what not to do. They are killing animals without any hesitation
- Because these spiritual sparks are all Krsna's parts and parcels, as the Lord states in the Bhagavad-gita (mamaivamsah), they (the conditioned souls) can revive their original position by getting free from material contact. This is pure understanding
- Because these two animals (a horse named Uccaihsrava and an elephant named Airavata) were produced from nectar, they have special significance, and they are representatives of Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- Because they could not engage their service to the lotus feet of Krsna, therefore, these so-called sannyasis again come down to this material platform and engage their service to the mithya
- Because they have no Krsna consciousness, they do not know that these food grains belong to Krsna. He has sent. So instead of throwing in the ocean, it should be dispatched to the countries where there is scarcity
- Because we cannot see the Supreme Personality of Godhead with these blunt eyes, He has assumed the form of a stone. This is called arca-murti. It is His mercy
- Because we have come to this conditional state of life, bhutva bhutva praliyate (BG 8.19), we sometimes . . . once we take birth and again we die - this is not very good proposal. But these rascals, they do not know how nature is working
- Because you (Maharaja Pariksit) have heard again and again about Lord Ramacandra, the husband of mother Sita, I (Sukadeva Gosvami) shall describe these activities only in brief. Please listen
- Because you (Sanatana) asked Me (Caitanya) for a synopsis, please hear these few indications. In the beginning describe how one must take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master
- Because you have grown up or you have changed your body, your mother will not cry, "Where is my child?" She knows that, "my child is there, but she has changed body." So why these people do not understand this plain truth
- Becoming Krsna conscious brings about anartha-apagamah, the disappearance of all anarthas, the miserable conditions we have unnecessarily accepted. The material body is the basic principle of these unwanted miserable conditions
- Before accepting someone as an incarnation of God, one should verify his identity according to the symptoms mentioned in the sastras. Without these symptoms the pretender is subject to be killed by the authorities
- Before speaking of these pious descendants, Maitreya has already described the descendants of impious activities, representing anger, envy, unpalatable speech, quarrel, fear and death
- Before these motorcars, the people were living very happily. They were transporting. But there was no such civilization that for your earning livelihood you have to go hundred miles away from your home to work there. Therefore you require vehicle
- Beginning from Cape Comorin and extending through Bengal to Vrndavana, during these six years He toured all of India, chanting, dancing and distributing love of Krsna
- Behind material nature is the Supreme Personality of Godhead; but one's victory and loss under the influence of sattva-guna, rajo-guna and tamo-guna are reactions of these modes, not of the Supreme Lord's partiality
- Being cheated by them, the living entity in the forest of the material world tries to give up the association of these so-called yogis, svamis and incarnations and come to the association of real devotees
- Being covered by illusion, by the modes of material nature, we do not take account of these (threefold) miseries. However, we should always know that in the material world we are undergoing so much suffering
- Being engaged in all these materialistic activities, the living soul entangles himself in the cycle of the law of fruitive actions. This entails the chain of birth and death in the 8,400,000 species of life
- Being in a transcendental position, he gave instructions on religion and transcendental knowledge because he is naturally extremely kind to the fallen souls. These instructions were free from all material contamination
- Being inquisitive as to how Krsna was managing His household affairs with so many wives, Narada, desiring to see these pastimes, set out to visit Krsna's different homes
- Being invited to that festival, I also joined & surrounded by women, I began musically singing the glories of the demigods. Because of this, the prajapatis, the great demigods in charge of the affairs of the universe forcefully cursed me with these words
- Being spiritualized, these transcendental activities (performed in relation with the transcendental spirit soul) transcend the limits of material annihilation
- Being the wives of great personalities like Prthu, Lord Ramacandra and Dhrtarastra, these (Arci, Sita and Gandhari) were ideal chaste women
- Being thus defeated by Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, all these philosophers and their followers entered into His cult. In this way Lord Caitanya made South India into a country of Vaisnavas
- Being unable to control the senses, exactly like the insect flies very boldly, falls on the fire, similarly, these uncontrolled senses (are) leading them to the darkest region of materialistic life
- Being very much afraid, the girl Sukanya said to her father: I have done something wrong, for I have ignorantly pierced these two luminous substances with a thorn
- Being very much satisfied by these transcendental pastimes with the Lord, the brahmana narrated the whole story of his mission in coming to see Krsna. He got out the letter Rukmini had written to Krsna
- Below the earth by 70,000 yojanas are the seven lower planetary systems called Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talatala, Mahatala, Rasatala and Patala. Below these lower planets by 30,000 yojanas, Sesa Naga is lying on the Garbhodaka Ocean
- Below the earth by 70,000 yojanas are the seven lower planetary systems. Below these lower planets by 30,000 yojanas, Sesa Naga is lying on the Garbhodaka Ocean. That ocean is 249,800,000 yojanas deep
- Beneath the human level there are eight million species of life: birds, beasts, reptiles, trees, etc., and, according to the development of the mode of ignorance, people are brought down to these abominable conditions. BG 1972 purports

- Besides these eight chief queens, Krsna had 16,100 other wives, and all of them also had ten sons each
- Besides these eleven expansions of Lord Siva there are eight forms of Rudra called earth, water, fire, air, sky, the sun, the moon and soma-yaji
- Besides these four daughters, she also had another two sons. One of them was known as Utathya, and the other was the learned scholar Brhaspati
- Besides these inferior energies, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature
- Besides these inferior energies, which are material, there is another energy, a spiritual energy, and this is the living being, O mighty-armed one. The entire material world is sustained by the living entities
- Besides these out-and-out impersonalists, there is a certain group of devotees that has deviated from the path of pure devotion and fallen prey to pretension
- Besides these sixty transcendental qualities, Krsna has four more, which are not manifest even in the Narayana form of Godhead, not to speak of the demigods or living entities
- Besides these two (fallible and infallible classes of beings), there is the greatest living personality, the Lord Himself, who has entered into these worlds and is maintaining them. BG 15.17 - 1972

- Better let them remain as Christians and Buddhists, we do not want to convert them. You tell them that if you stick to Christ you will come out all right. It is better to avoid these comparative studies
- Better read these books thoroughly and be firmly convinced yourself before going to these demons for convincing them. if you are weak yourself, while trying to convert them, you will be converted by them
- Bewildered by the modes of material nature, the ignorant fully engage themselves in material activities and become attached. But the wise should not unsettle them, although these duties are inferior due to the performers' lack of knowledge (BG 3.29)
- Bhagavad-gita (BG 3.9) clearly says, yajnarthat karmano 'nyatra loko 'yam karma-bandhanah: everyone may be engaged in his occupational duties, but the result of these duties should be offered for sacrifice to satisfy the Supreme Lord
- Bhagavad-gita is not a new thing, a new adventure. And the person who spoke Bhagavad-gita to the sun-god, does it mean that He left something to be commented by some, these mundane men to understand the meaning of the Bhagavad-gita?
- Bhagavad-gita mentions five causes of defeat or victory. Of these five, daiva (providence) is the most powerful - na ca daivat param balam
- Bhagavad-gita recommends that any work done should be done for om tat sat, or for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. When one performs penance, charity, and sacrifice with these three words, he is acting in Krsna consciousness. BG 1972 purports
- Bhagavad-gita recommends that if one wants to enjoy life, then it cannot be with these gross senses

- Bhakti may be considered in three stages - guni-bhuta, pradhani-bhuta & kevala, & according to these stages there are three divisions, which are called jnana, jnanamayi & rati, or prema - that is, simple knowledge, love mixed with knowledge, & pure love
- Bhakti means the activities of the liberated stage. That is not material things. So this Krsna consciousness movement is little difficult to understand because these activities are for the persons who have already attained moksa
- Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu is divided into four parts, just as the ocean is sometimes divided into four parts, and there are different sections within each of these four divisions
- Bhakti-yoga can be applicable to any one of these form, either Krsna or Rama or Visnu or Narayana, so many forms. Generally, Vaisnavas worship the form of Krsna, Radha-Krsna, and Laksmi-Narayana. In our conditional stage, we cannot worship Radha-Krsna
- Bhakti-yoga is the ultimate goal, but to analyze bhakti-yoga minutely one has to understand these other yogas. The yogi who is progressive is therefore on the true path of eternal good fortune. BG 1972 purports
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura asks the living entity why he is being carried away in these bodily machines to be placed in so many different circumstances. He advises that one surmount the waves of maya by surrendering unto Krsna
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura was against giving sannyasa. He didn't like these babajis. They were markata-vairagya, superficially . . . markata-vairagya means monkey. They live naked, eat fruits, live in the jungle. That is vairagya. But three dozen wives
- Bhima began to murmur, "My arms are just like thunderbolts, but despite these arms I could not smash Sisupala while he was blaspheming Krsna. Therefore, of what use are these strong arms?"

- Bilvamangala Thakura says liberation means... What is that? Liberation from this material hankering. And what is that material hankering? To satisfy the senses. So these devotees, they are not for satisfying their senses

- Bodily pains and pleasure come and go; they are not permanent. Tams titiksasva bharata. So you have to learn how to tolerate these bodily pains and pleasure, but you have to take care of the soul

- Both (Dhaumya and Krpacarya) these learned and perfect priests, assisted by other good brahmanas, were employed by Maharaja Yudhisthira to perform the ceremony
- Both Navadvipa and Varanasi were celebrated for their highly educational activities. At the present time these cities are still inhabited by great, learned scholars, but Varanasi is especially a center for Mayavadi sannyasis who are learned scholars
- Both of these pitfalls - rejection of the body as false and acceptance of the body as all in all - can be avoided when one is fully situated in Krsna consciousness

- Both these daughters (of Yadunathacarya) married, and they (Srimati and Narayani) are mentioned in the Bhakti-ratnakara - thirteenth wave
- Both these items (candana & camphor) were under government control; therefore the devotees had to meet with the government officials. Informing them of all the details, they attained permission to take the sandalwood and camphor outside Jagannatha Puri
- Both these temples and their management have to be reformed in the present context. We shall have to accommodate the process of temple entry by all classes of people
- Brahma Continue, "Although I know that You are the supreme source of all benediction, I am puzzled to know how You will be able to repay all the service that You are receiving from these residents of Vrndavana"
- Brahma created the four great sages Sanaka, Sananda, Sanatana and Sanat to entrust them with these four principles (sankhya, yoga, vairagya and tapas) of spiritual advancement
- Brahma first wanted to impress upon Priyavrata that although these great personalities are all authorities, they cannot possibly disobey the orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is described as deva, which means "always glorious
- Brahma is also one of these living entities, but he is especially empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Although Brahma is supposed to be the creator of this universe, actually the Supreme Personality of Godhead is its ultimate creator
- Brahma said, "Even one striving for Brahman realization or Paramatma realization cannot understand these features of Your personality unless You bestow on him the result of at least a slight bit of devotional service"

- Brahma said, "Persons who are engaged in performing great sacrifices cannot attain the perfection of understanding You, but simply by devotional service these innocent village women and cows are all able to satisfy You with their milk"
- Brahma said, "These residents of Vrndavana have given You everything - their bodies, their minds, their love, their homes, their possessions. Everything is being utilized for Your purpose"

- Brahma says: O my dear Lord, O Supreme Personality of Godhead, O Supersoul, O master of all mystic powers, no one can know or explain Your expansions, which You manifest by Your yogamaya energy. These expansions extend throughout the three worlds
- Brahma, Narada & Siva know about God to a considerable extent, and one should follow the instructions of these great personalities instead of being satisfied with a tiny brain and its playful discoveries such as spacecraft and similar products of science
- Brahma-samhita (5.37) confirms that Krsna expands Himself by His pleasure potency in the spiritual world and that these potencies are all nondifferent from Krsna
- Brahmaloka and Viraja-nadi are also attained after difficult austerities, but in these realms there is no understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His transcendental loving service
- Brahmana means one who has acquired these qualifications, satya sama damo titiksa. The first qualification of brahmana is to become truthful. He'll never speak lies. That is the first qualification. Satya sama, then controlling the senses
- Brahmana, ksatriyas, vaisyas, sudras. So these four divisions are always. Now you can name in a different way - that doesn't matter - but in every society and for all time these divisions are there
- Brahmananda Bharati immediately countered these words, saying, "This is not the cause of Your defeat. There is another cause"
- Brahmanas accept poverty... Not accept poverty. They are not very much interested. Either lie down on the ground or lie down on the sofa - they don't find any difference, because they are not interested with these bodily comforts
- Brahmanas and Vaisnavas are more powerful than royalty. It is therefore advised that the princely order not exhibit its material prowess before these two communities and should avoid offending them
- Brahmanas said, "How wonderful it is that although these women have undertaken no reformatory performances such as accepting the sacred thread, have not resided in the monastaries of the spiritual master-they still have attained the favor of Krsna"
- Brahmanas, ksatriyas & vaisyas are called twice-born because for these higher classes of men there is one birth by parental conjugation & there is another of cultural rejuvenation by spiritual initiation from the bona fide acarya, or spiritual master

- But for these three items - namely, eternal relation with God, exchange of dealings with Him and the attainment of love for Him - all that is instructed in the Vedas is superfluous and that any other explanation of the Vedas is concocted
- But the human civilization, the so-called human being has become so much degraded, they have no brain even to think over these matters, that how to stop this repetition or if there is any means to stop this repetition of birth and death
- By a combination of these modes of nature and under the control and purview of eternal time there are activities which are called karma. These activities are being carried out from time immemorial. BG 1972 Introduction
- By accepting the ecstasy of different grades of devotees, He (Caitanya) is complete in relishing all the mellows of these relationships, namely neutrality, servitorship, fraternity, parental affection and conjugal love
- By all of these activities, it is definitely understood that she (Yasoda) is the emblem of all maternal affection for Krsna
- By awakening knowledge one may also neutralize sinful reactions. Neither of these methods, however, can free one from the tendency to commit sinful activities
- By chanting these two holy names - sri-krsna-caitanya prabhu-nityananda - one immediately becomes ecstatic, and if he then chants the Hare Krsna maha-mantra he becomes free of offenses
- By devotional service one can understand that Krsna first of all manifests Himself as svayam-rupa, His personal form, then as tad-ekatma-rupa, and then as avesa-rupa. It is in these three features that He manifests Himself in His transcendental form
- By executing regulative devotional service, one is elevated to the platform of an eternally perfect associate, such as a servant, friend, superior or beloved woman. Each of these is of four varieties
- By following any guru or any principle, if you actually develop your love of God, then it is nice. Otherwise it is useless waste of time. That is the test. But they, so far I know, these yogis, they are themselves God. They say that everyone is God
- By following these inclinations he traverses the path called pravrtti-marga, by which one may be elevated to the heavenly planets, as you have already described (in the Third Canto)
- By following these six principles, one is sure to achieve the desired result of devotional service
- By good fortune one of these souls may somehow or other be delivered from the ocean of nescience, just as one of the many big logs in a flowing river may by chance reach the bank
- By hearing these topics from the sage (Narada), the son of King Uttanapada (Dhruva) was enlightened regarding the Personality of Godhead, and he ascended to the abode of the Lord, placing his feet over the head of death
- By His will, I create, Lord Siva destroys, and He Himself, in His eternal form as the Personality of Godhead, maintains everything. He is the powerful controller of these three energies
- By manipulation of earth and its products, such as stone, wood and jewels, these forms of the Supreme Lord can be present before our eyes
- By material calculation all this (God's varieties of forms) may appear contradictory, but if we understand that the Supreme Personality of Godhead has inconceivable potencies, we can accept these facts as eternally possible in Him
- By nature these divisions are there. Varna, four varnas, and four asramas. Four varnas means social divisions, and four asrama, spiritual division
- By nature they (women) are not very pure, nor are they very much attached to auspicious activities. Therefore, how wonderful it is that these women have developed transcendental love for Krsna, the Lord of all mystic yogis
- By our these blunt senses, speculating, we cannot understand what is God. Therefore His name is Adhoksaja, Adhoksaja, "beyond material speculation." And still you have to apply your bhakti, devotion
- By reading these instructions to Sanatana Gosvami, one will become fully aware of Lord Krsna's various expansions and the process of devotional service according to the regulative principles and spontaneous love. Thus everything can be fully known
- By reading these instructions, a pure devotee can understand love of Krsna, the mellows of devotional service and the conclusion of devotional service. Everyone can understand all these things to their ultimate end by studying these instructions
- By rendering service to these three, one attains the supreme goal of ecstatic love for Krsna. In all the revealed scriptures this is loudly declared again and again
- By seeing and hearing the notes recorded by these two great personalities, a Vaisnava, a devotee of the Lord, can know these pastimes one after another
- By sticking to Krishna Consciousness, chanting our required rounds loudly, and tending the deities, these items will surely save you (from nasty habits). So always be seriously engaged in serving Krishna & pray to Krishna to help you with your frailties
- By the beautifully positioned garden houses there were many luxuriant birds, such as swans, cakravakas, karandavas and cranes (in the palace of Maharaja Uttanapada). These birds generally do not live in filthy places like crows do
- By the example of these sages one should learn that regular hearing and recitation of the Bhagavatam is the only way for self-realization. Other attempts are simply a waste of time, for they do not give any tangible results
- By the grace of God the SC of every species of life can occupy its proper place, and these species can express their spiritual affection for God in the santa-rasa, as displayed by the land, water, hills, trees, fruits, and flowers of Vrndavana
- By the grace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu one can have real understanding of the essence of knowledge by avoiding these sectarian views and accepting the lotus feet of Krsna as the ultimate goal of life
- By the material life, these are our field of activities. The body is a combination of all these things. Just like a huge computer machine. It is made of these material things, but the mechanical parts are very minute, different
- By the mercy of Vyasa, I have heard these most confidential talks directly from the master of all mysticism, Krsna, who was speaking personally to Arjuna. BG 18.75 - 1972
- By the order of a judge, one person is released from jail, and another is imprisoned, but the judge is not responsible, for the distress and happiness of these different people is due to their own activities
- By the practice of bhakti-yoga these senses can become purified, and in the purified state they come directly in contact with the Supreme Lord. BG 1972 purports
- By these activities (as mentioned above) one is able to cut down the influence of the enemies, namely lust, anger, greed, illusion, madness and jealousy, and when thus situated, one can render service to the Lord
- By these blunt senses even we cannot understand what is the name of Krsna, why these people are chanting Hare Krsna. We cannot understand
- By these blunt senses we cannot understand what is Krsna. Sevonmukhe hi jihvadau svayam eva sphuraty adah: but if you engage yourself in His transcendental loving service, beginning with the tongue
- By these blunt senses, materially blunt . . . just like with blunt instrument you cannot take any benefit - it must be sharpened - similarly these senses, you utilize these senses to understand the Absolute Truth, but it must be purified, sharpened
- By these blunt senses, we cannot understand Krsna. We cannot understand what is Krsna, what is Krsna's name, what is Krsna's fame, what is Krsna's form, what is Krsna's quality. We cannot understand
- By these present senses it is not possible to understand the transcendental nature of Krsna, His name, His form, His quality, His pastimes. Everything of Krsna, they are all divyam, divine
- By these processes, or any other true process, one must control the contaminated, unbridled mind, which is always attracted by material enjoyment, and thus fix himself in thought of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- By these three divisions of advancement in yoga - yogaruruksu, yogarudha and prapta-siddhi - there are six kinds of mystic yogis
- By this material civilization they will never be happy. And it is risky. That they do not know. They do not believe in the transmigration of the soul. So irresponsibly… Or just like these elderly person, how they are wasting time
C

- Caitanya Mahaprabhu had to lead a civil disobedience movement against the propaganda of the so-called followers of Vedic principles. These people are described as karma jada-smartas, which indicates that they are priests engaged in ritualistic ceremonies
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu lamented, “I found Krsna in Vrndavana, and now I have again lost Him and come to Kuruksetra.” Unless one is a very highly advanced devotee, he cannot understand these intricate feelings
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, I deserve very little credit for these activities of chanting and dancing, for they are being done automatically by the grace of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu was sitting on the rejected pots. So His mother said, "My dear boy, You are sitting in this nasty place. Why?" He said, "Well, how you can say this is nasty place? These pots are very pure"
- Caitanya told Sanatana Gosvami about the beautiful aspects of Krsna. He said that one who understands these beautiful qualities enjoys an ocean of nectar

- Causeless devotional service is unmotivated by sense enjoyment, perfection or liberation. When one is freed from all these contaminations, he can bring Lord Krsna, who is very funny, under control
- Certainly the cosmic manifestation comes to a close and becomes void when the living entities merge into the body of Narayana to rest until another creation, and this may be called an impersonal condition, but these conditions are never eternal
- Chant sixteen rounds and observe these rules and regulations. Then, when I see, six months or one year, he's doing very nicely, then we accept him as my disciple, the second initiation. So this is bhajana-kriya
- Chanting is kirtana, and hearing SB. Hearing and chanting and serving and worshiping, and if possible to live in a sacred place like Vrndavana and Mathura. These five things are recommended by Caitanya for quick advancement of spiritual life, very quick
- Chanting is the medicine, and prasada is the diet. With these processes one can begin his service, and as the service increases, the Lord reveals more and more to the devotee
- Chanting of these six lines (Hare Krsna, panca-tattva mantra, & haraye namah krsna) should go on so perfectly well that no one there hears any vibration other than the chanting of the holy names of God. That will make the center spiritually all-perfect
- Chanting the holy name does not depend on initiation, pious activities or the purascarya regulative principles generally observed before initiation. The holy name does not wait for any of these activities. It is self-sufficient
- Charity is sometimes made under some obligation, at the request of a superior. These kinds of charity are said to be made in the mode of passion. BG 1972 purports

- Clearly these statements (of CC Madhya 1.91) are a real account of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s acceptance of the renounced order of life. His acceptance of this renounced order is not at all comparable to the acceptance of sannyasa by Mayavadis
- Combined, these are called tritayatmaka, the three causes (time, the ingredient and the creator). Everything in this material world is created by these three causes. All of these causes are found in the Personality of Godhead

- Confirming the potency of the sankirtana movement, these words (of CC Adi 17.217) from the very mouth of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu express how people can be purified simply by chanting the holy name of Lord Krsna

- Contrasting these statements of a great politician in the modern age with those of Maharaja Pariksit, we find a vast difference

- Desiring to create these universes, You create them, maintain them and again wind them up by Your own energies, which are under the control of Your second energy, called yogamaya, just as a spider creates a cobweb by its own energy and again winds it up
- Despite being worshiped (Brahma is admitting his failure to know the Supreme Lord) by the great Prajapatis, the forefathers of the living entities. So these qualifications are not sufficient to know the Supreme Lord
