- There are many other instances showing that a devotee needn't practice anything but Krsna consciousness; all the good qualities of the demigods automatically develop within him
- There are many phases of spiritual knowledge and transcendental bliss. On one platform are the ritualistic sacrifices recommended in the Vedas, the execution of austerities and pious duties, and the practice of mystic yoga
- There are many tantric followers who, wishing to eat meat and drink wine, practice the black art of worshiping the goddess Bhavani in a crematorium. Such fools also consider this bhavani-puja to be as good as worship of Lord Krsna in devotional service
- There are prescriptions for fasting on certain days of the month. One may not be inclined to practice such fasting, but because of his determination to make advancement in the science of KC, he should accept such bodily troubles. BG 1972 purports
- There are the eternal associates, the associates who have become perfect by devotional service, and those who are practicing devotional service and are called sadhakas, of whom there are two varieties
- There are two different platforms, the material and the spiritual. Followers of the Vedic civilization, which is practiced in India - although nowadays it is distorted - actually, these people are not lazy
- There is a solitary garden where Krsna enjoys His pastimes, and in one corner of a pavilion in that garden, the yogi of My mind, along with his disciples, practices mystic yoga
- There is no impediment to become divine. Simply you have to practice for the post. Just like everyone can become high-court judge. Everyone can become the president of United States. There is no bar. But you have to be qualified
- There is no need (to end material life) to first undergo severe penance and austerity, practice celibacy, control the mind and the senses, give in charity, perform great sacrifices and become very truthful and clean
- There is no peace in the world. If men at all want peace in the world, they must practice sacrifice in the interest of the supreme proprietor and friend of all
- There is no possibility of checking this tendency by any artificial means under material conditions; it can be checked only by awakening the spiritual sense of the human being by practice of spiritual regulations
- There is no question of meditating on something void or impersonal. One can meditate on the transcendental form of Lord Visnu even without practicing involved sitting postures. Such meditation is called perfect samadhi
- There is no question of meditating on something void or impersonal. When one can meditate on the transcendental form of Lord Visnu even without practicing involved sitting postures, such meditation is called perfect samadhi - CC Preface
- Thereafter the brahmana took his bath in the water and controlled his speech by practicing trance, meditating on the eternal effulgence and chanting the holy Gayatri hymns within his mouth
- Thereafter, within a very few days, by the influence of the mantra that Citraketu had practiced, his mind became increasingly enlightened in spiritual progress, and he attained shelter at the lotus feet of Anantadeva
- These (illicit-sex, meat-eating, intoxication and gambling) are not wanted. It is not that without these things a man cannot live. It is a practice only
- These (the practice of yama, niyama, asana, pratyahara, dhyana, dharana, pranayama, and samadhi) only preface perfection by devotional service, which alone can award peace to the human being. It is the highest perfection of life. BG 1972 purports
- These all (austerities, pious duties, and mystic yoga) reward different results to their performer. The rewards of these practices, however, appear to be very glittering as long as one is not elevated to the transcendental loving service of the Lord
- These are to be practiced. Etan vegan yo visaheta dhirah (NOI 1): "One who has become successful in controlling the urges of all these things," prthivim sa sisyat, "now he's free to make disciples all over the world
- These different methods for liberation are generally only a professional practice and means of livelihood for those who have not conquered their senses. Because such persons are falsely proud, these procedures may not be successful
- These matters are the subject of study for the empiric philosopher or the sankhya-yogi. To come to the right conclusion, sankhya-yogis undergo severe austerities and penances, practicing control of the senses and renunciation
- These practices (sańga-tyaga etc.) greatly help the devotee remain fixed on the path of DS & avoid the tendency to enjoy temporary, material things. Thus the activities of a devotee remain always pure and without any contamination of the material world
- These proud mlecchas (persons who are less than sudras), representing themselves as kings, will tyrannize their subjects, and their subjects, on the other hand, will cultivate the most vicious practices
- These roads (not frequently used) are exactly like a brahmana who is not accustomed to studying and practicing the reformatory methods of the Vedic injunctions - he becomes covered with the long grasses of maya
- They (a class of priestly persons) further claimed that the practice and spreading of devotional service belonged only to their particular class, which was known as Nityananda-vamsa
- They (all children and youths) should be taught to hear the instructions of Bhagavad-gita, to put them into practice in their lives, and thus to become strong in devotional service, free from fear of being degraded to animal life
- They (demoniac persons) advise that one can satisfy the senses and at the same time, by reciting some mantra and by some practice, can aspire for perfection. Such persons are described here as hata-medhasah, which means those whose brains are spoiled
- They (exalted kings who practiced austerities & penances namely Dhruva, Ambarisa and so on) set the example for those who have acquired this good opportunity of a beautiful human form of life with all the facilities for economic development & good living
- They (fruitive activities, philosophical speculations and salvation) are more or less practiced by persons who have no information of the ultimate goal of life
- They (nondevotees) do not realize that they themselves, because of their practice of eating all kinds of nonsense in this life, will be destined to eat the most abominable things in their next life
- They (the inhabitants of the topmost planetary systems) do not have to learn and practice the mystic processes of yoga perfection and achieve the power of becoming small like a particle -anima-siddhi-, or lighter than a soft feather -laghima-siddhi
- They (trees in the heavenly planets) must live for more than many ten-thousands of years, and sometimes, as practiced even now, some valuable trees are taken from one place to another
- They (yogis and jnanis who in the beginning take to the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra as a way to begin their various practices) do not consider that the ultimate goal is the form of the Lord or the name of the Lord
- They (yogis and mystics) meditate in secluded places to attain yogic trance. Yoga has to be performed in a secluded place, not in public or in a demonstration on stage, as nowadays practiced by many so-called yogis
- They have got so much transcendental spiritual pleasure, this sex pleasure - they are astonished: is that pleasure? Phu! (makes spitting sound) That stage is possible. Still there are so many brahmacaris. So everything depends on practice
- They very devotedly began to worship the deity of Lord Siva and Ambika. It is the general practice that wherever there is a temple of Lord Siva, there must be another temple, of Ambika (or Durga)
- Thinking is not to be stopped. That is not possible. You cannot stop thinking even for a moment. Simply you have to practice. Instead of thinking these material things, you think of Krsna. That is wanted
- This (practicing sitting postures) is a great technique which one has to practice to attain the highest perfectional stage of yoga, but such practice is not meant for this age
- This age of Kali is not at all suitable for self-realization by the methods practiced in Satya-yuga, the golden age, or Treta- or Dvapara-yugas, the silver and copper ages
- This black art of witchcraft is still practiced by some women in the remote northwestern side of India
- This cheating practice is there in the conditioned souls because the conditioned souls are primarily in the material world imbued with an unnatural desire to lord it over the material world
- This custom of a would-be bride's going to the temple of a demigod is still practiced in India. As the procession continued, various musical sounds were heard
- This formula, Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, this sound vibration, you can practice it. It is not difficult. There is no secret
- This is brahminical qualification, to practice how to fix up the mind at the lotus feet of Krsna & that is the perfection of yoga. Yoga means not to show some magical feats. No. Real perfection of yoga means to fix up the mind at the lotus feet of Krsna
- This is not a very difficult process (always remembering the Supreme Lord). However, one must learn it from an experienced person, from one who is already in the practice. BG 1972 Introduction
- This is practice of yoga. Not to allow the mind to go away from Krsna
- This is the perfect system. Anyone who is thinking of Krsna always within himself is a first-class yogi. If you want perfection in yoga, don't be satisfied only by practicing codes. You have to go further
- This is to be practiced, that we should not be disturbed by the ethereal transformation in touch with the skin and be disturbed in our regular activities in devotional service. That is called sthita-prajna
- This Krsna consciousness movement is for educating people how to think of God constantly. And if we practice like that, then, after giving up this body, we are going to get a body which is exactly like God. This body is called sac-cid-ananda
- This mental condition naturally is there what I practice throughout my whole life. So if we practice this chanting of Hare Krsna name, then there is chance of chanting Hare Krsna at the time of death. That is the examination
- This opportunity (of a beautiful human form of life) should be used to attain an even better life, and this can be actualized by practice of penance
- This practice (Demons eating meat and flesh without discrimination) is still prevalent in India, and those who eat meat and fish are generally called demons and Raksasas
- This practice (of chanting Hare Krsna) will purify him (the devotee), and at the end of his life, due to his constant chanting, he will be transferred to the kingdom of God. BG 1972 purports
- This practice (of doing everything for Krsna's satisfaction) will not only save one from the reaction of work, but will also gradually elevate one to transcendental loving service of the Lord, which alone can raise one to the kingdom of God. BG 1972 p
- This practice (offering everything to Lord Visnu and distributing prasada to all the demigods) is still followed in the temple of Jagannatha at Puri
- This practice (the wife serves personally the husband) is also followed by the wives of the demigods, and in days past the wives of men also followed this same principle
- This practice goes on while one is living, and the perfection is reached when one can place himself on the top of the head and then break through. Then he can transfer himself to whatever higher planets he likes. That is the perfection of the yogi
- This practice had to be stopped, but even today there are still some solitary cases where a wife will voluntarily enter the fire and die with her husband. Even after 1940 we personally knew of a chaste wife who died in this way
- This practice is not for developing something artificial. For example, a child learns or practices to walk. This walking is not unnatural. The walking capacity is there originally in the child, and simply by a little practice he walks very nicely
- This practice is recommended, sastra, that by the our these blunt senses it is very difficult to understand Krsna
- This practice is very essential for the student's advancement in spiritual life, but at the moment such brahmacari (unmarried celibate) life is not at all possible
- This practice is very old, as learned from this verse (3.22.23) of Srimad-Bhagavatam; millions of years ago, Svayambhuva Manu used to avail himself of this opportunity to live householder life in peace and prosperity of a Krsna consciousness atmosphere
- This practice of forbearance (taror iva sahisnuna) is very difficult, but when one actually engages in chanting the Hare Krsna mantra, the quality of forbearance automatically develops
- This practice we should give up: mano-dharma, mental concoction. We should immediately accept Krsna's instruction and be situated in atma-dharma. That is atmarama
- This process by which the Supreme Personality of Godhead is understood is known as abhidheya, practice of devotional service within conditional life
- This pure consciousness is awakened by the proper spiritual education and practice offered scientifically by the Krsna consciousness movement
- This shedding of tears is not actually an ecstatic loving expression, however. It is done simply by practice
- This sort of marriage, in which the girl is kidnapped by force, is known as raksasa and is practiced among ksatriyas, or men with an administrative, martial spirit
- This spiritual platform, to reach, requires gradually process of cultivation, and there is no difficulty to reach the spiritual platform. But first of all, the training of the mind is practiced by the yoga system. Yoga means to control the mind
- This system of yoga for controlling the breathing process is called pranayama, and in the beginning it is practiced in the hatha-yoga system through different sitting postures. BG 1972 purports
- This temple means to practice how to think of Krsna's lotus feet, Balarama's lotus feet, always. Man-mana bhava mad-bhaktah. Immediately you become bhakta. And as soon as you become a bhakta all kinds of disturbances will be subsided
- This theory is going on amongst the Mayavadis, that by the mystic yoga practice, one can become God. So we don't want such cheap God
- This threefold austerity, practiced by men whose aim is not to benefit themselves materially but to please the Supreme, is of the nature of goodness. BG 17.17 - 1972
- This transcendental method (hearing and chanting) practiced by the mahatmas gives them sufficient knowledge of the Lord because if the Lord can at all be known to some extent, it is only through the means of devotional service and no other way
- This we have to practice: everything on account of the Supreme. This transcendental nature we have to develop. This is the trick of doing work under these present circumstances
- This yoga practice begins simply by hearing. You have got these ears. You simply just lend your ears and you become yogi
- Those who are actually yogis practice in a secluded place, and after many, many births they become successful, provided they surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is the completion of yoga
- Those who are grossly in the concept of body, they are recommended to practice this hatha-yoga so that by this process his mind can be concentrated on Krsna
- Those who are in Krsna consciousness, or who are practicing bhakti-yoga (sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam), can return to Godhead without even practicing the muktasana process
- Those who are intentionally practicing to be vegetarians or to become nonviolent may have good qualifications by a material estimation, but these qualifications are not sufficient to make them devotees
- Those who are too addicted to sense gratification are advised to practice the mystic yoga system, or astanga-yoga system, consisting of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyhara and so on. In this way, one can control the senses
- Those who are trying to ascend on the path of mystic yoga are called aruruksu. In aruruksu yoga, various sitting postures are practiced, and the mind is concentrated
- Those who do not know the secret of success for this Age of Kali unnecessarily indulge in the cultivation of knowledge, the practice of mystic yoga or the performance of fruitive activities or useless austerities
- Those who have practiced . . . one who has practiced how to control the mind, not to go outside but hear, that is attentive
- Those who shed tears by practice but whose hearts have not changed are to be known as stone-hearted devotees of the lowest grade. Their imitation crying, induced by artificial practice, is always condemned
- Those who, out of envy, disregard these teachings and do not practice them regularly, are to be considered bereft of all knowledge, befooled, and doomed to ignorance and bondage. BG 3.32 - 1972
- Thus by not engaging in the service of the modes of material nature but by developing KC, knowledge in renunciation, & by practicing yoga, in which the mind is always fixed in DS unto the SPG, one achieves My association in this very life
- Thus practicing constant control of the body, mind and activities, the mystic transcendentalist, his mind regulated, attains to the kingdom of God (or the abode of Krsna) by cessation of material existence
- Thus practicing control of the body, mind and activities, the mystic transcendentalist attains to the kingdom of God (or the abode of Krsna) by cessation of material existence. BG 6.15 - 1972
- To actually practice yoga, one should keep his eyes half-open and gaze at the tip of his nose
- To attain liberation, one must be completely purified of perverted forms of desire. A living being cannot snuff out desires, and to practice artificially erasing the actions of desire is more dangerous than the active desires themselves
- To attain perfection in transcendental knowledge is to accept the disciplic succession, the spiritual line, by culture, practice, and education in that line
- To be agitated in the mind, that is not unnatural, but if you practice, then you'll not be agitated anymore. If you practice by your knowledge, then you'll not be agitated. That is called dhira. Dhiras tatra na muhyati (BG 2.13). You have to become dhira
- To become God conscious is not difficult. Simply one has to learn how to practice it. That's all
- To come to the right conclusion, sankhya-yogis undergo severe austerities and penances, practicing control of the senses and renunciation
- To endeavor to be situated in the shade of the lotus feet of the Lord is not an ordinary task because even the great brahmacaris headed by Sanandana, who practiced astanga-yoga in trance, attained the shelter of the Lord's lotus feet
- To know exactly the permanency of spiritual existence, one must voluntarily practice possessing less or only the minimum to maintain one's material existence. One should not create artificial needs. That will help one be satisfied with the minimum
- To perform that yoga, Krsna says, mayy asakta-manah partha yogam yunjan mad-asrayah. One has to take shelter of Krsna. You cannot practice krsna-yoga by taking shelter of anything else. You have to take shelter of Krsna
- To practice concentration of the mind, one has to sit with the head and the back in a straight line, and one must practice in a secluded place, sanctified by a sacred atmosphere
- To practice yoga, one should go to a secluded place and should lay kusa grass on the ground and then cover it with a deerskin and a soft cloth. The seat should neither be too high nor too low and should be situated in a sacred place
- To rise early in the morning - for those who are not practiced, it is a little painful, but one has to do it. So according to the Vedic injunctions, there are some tapasyas that must be done
- To sit down in a place and always fix up in Krsna the mind, that is not very easy job. One who is not practiced to it, if he simply imitates, then he will be confused
- To understand this (real identification, I am servant of the servant of Krsna) knowledge one has to approach acarya. Acarya means one who knows the purpose of Vedic literature, sastra, asrnoti yah sastram, and practices and teaches his disciple. He knows
- Tolerance means that one should be practiced to bear insult and dishonor from others. BG 1972 purports
- Trained in the guru-kula to adhere to a life of renunciation and sense control by practicing brahmacarya

U

- Unless one practices devotional service to the Lord, one cannot know Krsna as He is (tattvatah), even though one is a great scholar or philosopher
- Unless one practices penances and austerities in his student life, he cannot understand the existence of God. Without realizing Krsna, one cannot make his life perfect
- Unless we get that stage, we should not imitate personalities like Haridasa Thakura and others. We should wait for. That is the ultimate stage. But we should practice and work actively for understanding Krsna. That is Krsna consciousness movement
- Up to twenty-fifth year you remain a brahmacari, learn from guru how to become brahmacari, gurukula. Brahmacari gurukule vasan danta, how to practice self-control, sense control

- Vaisnavas do not require to practice any yogic power to become materially powerful. He doesn't require. Simply his surrender to Krsna makes him all-powerful. This is the position of Vaisnava
- Veda-vadis generally practice the Caturmasya system. Aksayyam ha vai caturmasya-yajinah sukrtam bhavati: one who performs the caturmasya-yajna becomes pious. By becoming pious, one may be promoted to the higher planetary systems
- Vedic civilization is so nice that you accept the platform which is suitable for you: brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, sannyasa. These are called asrama. Asrama means where spiritual culture is practiced

- We can directly experience the results of this science of Krsna consciousness because it is very easy to practice and is very pleasurable
- We have got Bhagavad-gita and all Vedic literatures. By learning, by practicing, we can make our life perfectly and then distribute the knowledge. This is India's business

- Whatever austerity, pranayama and mystic yoga practices Prthu performed were performed for the sake of worshiping Krsna. Prthu Maharaja serves as a perfect example for yogis also. Whatever he did, he did to please the Supreme Personality of Godhead Krsna
- Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, that state he will attain without fail. If one practices chanting the Hare Krsna mantra, he is naturally expected to chant Hare Krsna when he meets with some accident
