- By the ascending process one is elevated by knowledge acquired by himself. In this way one thinks - I don't care for any authorities or books. I will attain knowledge myself by meditation, philosophy, etc. In this way I will understand God
- By the grace of a spiritual master like Sukadeva, unto whom the King (Pariksit) gave himself up as a most humble disciple one is able to understand the actual position of the Lord His eternal abode & His transcendental paraphernalia in that dhama or abode
- By the grace of the Lord, a devotee can very easily understand how the Lord can appear in any form He likes. Therefore the devotee is never afraid of such a form
- By the grace of the Lord, a devotee like Brahma, or one in his chain of disciplic succession, can understand the almighty Personality of Godhead eternally engaged in His transcendental pastimes in the region of different energies

- Generally the chanting of om is recommended because in the beginning one cannot understand the Personality of Godhead
- Generally, when we think of service, we think of our hand and legs, that "By..., I can render service with my hands, with my legs." No. The science of understanding God - the service begins with the tongue

- He (a liberated soul) is wholly freed from all kinds of material desires, yet still he is irresistibly attracted by the desire to hear and understand the pastimes of the Lord
- He (a person) does not know what is good. Real goodness is to understand God. That is real goodness

- He (Vasudeva) could immediately understand (by seeing a newborn child decorated so nicely with valuable garments & gems) that the Supreme Personality of Godhead had appeared, not as an ordinary child but in His original, fully decorated, four-handed form
- He assumed a bluish complexion like that of a tamala tree, and thus the sages, headed by Brahma, could understand Him to be the Supreme Personality of Godhead and offered respectful obeisances unto the Lord
- He got the chance of understanding God - he doesn't care for that. He's unnecessarily laboring whole day in the sea, so that he's developing a mentality, he'll think of swimming in the water, and the subtle body will carry him to the fish yoni
- He is never tainted in the slightest degree by the flaws of ordinary living beings. Everyone must therefore understand the Absolute Truth to possess inconceivable potencies

- Hindu dharma or Vedic dharma means varnasrama-dharma. One must first of all accept the principles of varnas and asrama. Then there is question of understanding God
- His activities are transcendental and are enacted for the understanding of all persons. Otherwise, since the Lord is transcendental to all material modes, what purpose could He serve by coming to earth?
- How can one understand this knowledge (of God)? It must be imparted by God Himself or a bona fide representative of God. Therefore Sri Krsna says that whenever there is a discrepancy on understanding the science of God, He incarnates Himself
- How can we describe God or understand His glories? It is not possible. God is unlimited. Regardless of our finite limitations, however, we can express our own feelings and say, "My God, my Lord." This will be accepted
- How do you understand that God is great? What is your calculation, that from, on this point, God is great? Just like in your Bible it is said, "God said 'Let there be creation,' and there was creation." Is it not? Is it not statement? So here is greatness
- How he is greater than everyone and nobody is equal to Him - everyone is subordinate, everyone is creation of Him - If you understand these factors of the greatness of God perfectly well, then you become fit for being transferred to the spiritual world

- Human being, human life, is meant for understanding God and become God conscious
- Human civilization is especially meant for understanding God. Therefore in any civilized human society there is system of religion
- Human form of life, is only meant for understanding God. If we divert our attention to any other business, that means we are spoiling our energy
- Human life is especially meant for taking advantage of this form of life and understand, - What is God? What I am? What is my relationship with God? How to act? Why I am conditioned by so many miserable condition of life
- Human life is meant for self-realization. First of all one has to realize his own self, which is described in this verse as nijam. Then he has to understand or realize the Supersoul, or Paramatma, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Human life is meant for understanding the Absolute Truth, God, the background of everything. Immediately answer is there: "The Brahman means janmady asya yatah (SB 1.1.1), the origin of everything
- Human life should be utilized to understand God, because forgetting God we are in this material world and suffering so many miserable condition of life. That is our problem

- I am not the Proprietor even of this body, yet I say that I am this body. Actually, this is ignorance. And how can one have peace? Peace can be had when one understands that God is the proprietor of everything
- I am placing my love in so many things, and I am becoming frustrated. So when we understand the love is meant for God, that is our perfection of life. And if you love God, then you love everything. That is perfect love
- I have already explained, the problem is that at the present moment there is no proper understanding of God
- I have got this human form of life for understanding Krsna, understanding God, my position, what I am. I am not this body. I am spirit soul. I have been put into this body, & because I have been put into this body - the body is material - it must finish

- If anyone is serious to understand God, so there is no objection. Just like if one is serious to understand some particular science, he goes to some other university in other country. That does not mean that person is fallen
- If anyone understands that Krsna, or God, is not under any rules and regulation and laws of this material world, then he understands Krsna perfectly

- If by philosophical research one cannot come to the point of understanding Supreme Person, then his task is not finished. His search in knowledge is still to be continued until he comes to the point of understanding the Supreme Lord in devotional service
- If by the Lord's grace one can understand Him, one will immediately be delivered, even within his material body. The material body will no longer have any function, & whatever activities take place with the body will be activities of Krsna consciousness
- If he (the living entity) comes in contact with a pure devotee and is intelligent enough to take instructions from the pure devotee regarding the process of devotional service, he can understand God, the origin of Brahman and Paramatma without difficulty
- If I do not know you, you do not know me, when we live ten thousand miles away, there is no question of love. Love means when there is intimacy. So to understand God is very difficult
- If living entities are engaged in hearing about the unlimited potencies of the Supreme Lord, they are factually connected directly to the unlimited. Such understanding of the unlimited becomes unlimited by hearing and chanting
- If one accepts the real or direct meaning of these Vedic statements, one can understand that the Supreme Personality of Godhead has a spiritual body - sac-cid-ananda-vigraha - Bs. 5.1
- If one agrees to put himself under the guidance of a devotee of God, he can also understand the science of God and can become like the transcendental pure devotee of the Lord and thus get his liberation back to Godhead, back home for eternal happiness
- If one can see the Supreme Personality of Godhead as He appears in different incarnations and understand that He has not assumed a material body but is present in His own eternal, spiritual form, then one can understand the nature of the PG
- If one can somehow or other, by the grace of the Lord, understand the transcendental position of the Lord, one becomes eternal. This is further confirmed by the Lord Himself in Bhagavad-gita - BG 4.9
- If one can understand the position of the living entity as a separated portion of the SPG, by studying the nature of the living entity one can understand the nature of the Supreme Godhead, since the living entity is a fragmental sample of the Godhead
- If one can understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead and engage in His service, there is no more need of severe austerities, penances and so on
- If one can understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one can automatically understand everything else. Because of not taking shelter of the Lord's lotus feet, even great scholars, scientists, philosophers and religionists are always bewildered
- If one desires to enter into the spiritual world, he must try to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead by practicing bhakti-yoga
- If one develops love for Krsna by Krsna conscious activities, one can know the Supreme Absolute Truth, but he who tries to understand God simply by logical arguments will not succeed, nor will he get a taste for unalloyed devotion
- If one does not take to this process (of devotional service), one imagines or manufactures some form of God according to material qualities and can never awaken a real understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- If one fortunately understands the Supreme Lord in this way (by devotional service), after giving up his material body, he no longer has to take birth in this material world. Instead, he returns home, back to Godhead. That is the ultimate perfection
- If one is fortunate enough to have received the knowledge in the transcendental disciplic succession, surely he will have the chance to understand the mystery of the Lord and that of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the sound incarnation of the Lord
- If one is fortunate enough to understand his relationship with God, knowing that God is great (vibhu) whereas the living entity is small (anu), he is perfect in knowledge
- If one is interested to understand God, then he must take all these items (sravanam kirtanam visnoh, smaranam pada-sevanam, arcanam vandanam dasyam, sakhyam atma-nivedanam) or some of them or at least one of them
- If one is serious about understanding God, he should not think, "I am Christian," "I am Hindu," or "I am Muslim." If one is serious about understanding love of God, he should consider which process is practical
- If one is serious about understanding the Supreme, one must receive enlightenment from Him, as instructed in Bhagavad-gita. One cannot understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead by one's mental, physical or intellectual powers
- If one is serious about understanding what God is, then he will accept Krsna as the Supreme Lord. Once he knows what God is, he'll understand, - Here is God-Krsna
- If one is slightly favored by the mercy of the Lord, if the Lord is pleased, one can understand Him. But who are the candidates eligible to receive the mercy of the Lord? Only the devotees. They alone can understand what is the SPG
- If one properly understands God, he can understand any subject matter very nicely
- If one reaches the transcendental platform of understanding the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he becomes well acquainted with everything, material and spiritual. This is confirmed in another Vedic mantra: tam eva viditvati mrtyum eti
- If one sees or understands the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the other two features of the Absolute Truth - namely impersonal Brahman and localized Paramatma - are also automatically understood
- If one takes advantage of the Krsna consciousness movement, one can understand God perfectly and completely
- If one understands that the Supreme is situated in His Paramatma manifestation everywhere, if one can see the presence of the Supreme PG in every living thing, he does not degrade himself, & he gradually advances in the spiritual world. BG 1972 purports
- If one understands the Supreme Lord through devotional service with faith in the disciplic succession and then advances further, he awakens his natural love for God, and then his success in life is assured

- If one wants to understand the Supreme Personality factually, he must take to the path of devotional service and not waste time in profitless philosophical speculation, fruitive activity, mystic yogic practice or severe austerity and penance
- If simply by chanting the holy name of the Lord one becomes sanctified instantly, then what can be said of those persons who see the Supreme Lord face to face and who understand the descent of the Lord, as Devahuti understands Kapiladeva

- Nature has given the fertile brain, but they are misusing it, duskrtina, only for sense gratification. The brain was given to understand God, but the rascal is using for illicit sex, meat-eating, drinking, and gambling
- Neither I (Lord Siva), nor Brahma, nor the Asvini-kumaras, nor Narada or the other great sages who are Brahma's sons, nor even the demigods can understand the pastimes and personality of the Supreme Lord
- Neither the demigods and sages nor the unintelligent can understand the features of the Lord, nor can they express in words His actual position. May that Supreme Personality of Godhead give me protection

- Paramatma realization - realization of the plenary expansion of the Absolute Truth within everyone’s heart - is also an incomplete understanding of the Absolute Truth
- Partial realization of the Absolute Truth as impersonal Brahman denies the complete opulences of the Lord. This is a hazardous understanding of the Absolute Truth
- Partially understanding of God, that is also understanding, but it will again take time, because unless you fully understand what is God, you cannot go back to home, back to Godhead. That is the formula
- People cannot understand this (that God as the proprietor of everything) because they have no sense of God, but the Krsna consciousness movement can help them to understand God and to understand that everything belongs to God
- People in general must be guided to the destination or goal of life, and therefore they must understand Visnu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- People in the material modes of passion and ignorance generally cannot understand the plan of the Supreme Personality of Godhead with its 8,400,000 forms of life, but the human form affords one the special privilege to understand this plan

- Religion means when one understands Krsna, or God, he understands automatically that all living entities are Krsna's part and parcels. Some way or other, they have been put into this maya
- Religion where there is no discrimination of foodstuff, what is that religion? What is that religion? This is fanaticism. That is not religion. Religion is to understand God. And one cannot understand God, the purest of all pure, unless one is pure
- Removal of ignorance involves the reestablishment of the eternal relationship between the worshiper and the worshipable and the consequent understanding of the difference between the part and parcel living entities and the SP of Godhead. BG 1972 purports

- Sanatana Gosvami said, "I am a very insignificant living entity. I am low and poorly behaved. How can I understand who is the incarnation for this Age of Kali"
- Santi, peace, real peace, can be achieved simply by understanding that God is the proprietor and God is the enjoyer of everything
- Scientists try to be the masters of material nature, life after life, not caring to understand the Supreme Person, under whose direction everything within this material world is moving
- Seasonal changes may come and go in life - sometimes they may please us, and sometimes they may pinch us - but our duty in human life is to understand God. We shouldn't care for all these catastrophes that come and go
- Self-realization ultimately means to understand the Personality of Godhead and the living entities; to know the individual self and the reciprocal exchanges of loving service between the Supreme and the living entity is real self-realization
- Similarly, originally God is person, and then, when He expands, all-pervasive, that is Paramatma. And when He expands by His energy, that is Brahman. This is understanding
- Simply by advancing one's knowledge, one cannot be accepted as an expert in understanding the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Supreme Personality of Godhead can be understood not by advanced knowledge, but by pure devotional service
- Simply by devotional service one can understand everything about the Supreme Lord
- Simply by practicing bhakti-yoga one can understand the Supreme Lord in truth, but without such understanding, one cannot enter the spiritual kingdom
- Simply by the activities of bhakti-yoga, he (one with limited senses) can understand that the Lord and His activities are always transcendental
- Simply by the association of pure devotees one can understand the transcendental name, fame, quality and activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Simply by understanding - even not engaging yourself in transcendental service of the Lord - simply by understanding the process of appearance and disappearance. So why don't you try that
- Simply by understanding the Lord's appearance and disappearance in truth, one can attain the perfectional stage of eternal life. Therefore, Maharaja Yudhisthira also began to consider going back to Godhead
- Simply by understanding the Supreme Lord, one goes beyond birth, death, old age and disease. Srila Sukadeva Gosvami advised Maharaja Pariksit in Srimad-Bhagavatam - in SB 2.1.5
- Simply engaging tongue in the service of the Lord, I shall understand. - So this is also blind faith. But actually it is happening. Chant Hare Krsna and take prasadam. That's all
- Since a devotee engages in philosophical research to understand the Supreme Person as He is his activities may thus appear to be like those of a mental speculator, but actually he is trying to understand the spiritual nature and transcendental activities
- Since all the Lord's energies are simultaneously existing, one must understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. But although He is everything, He is not present in everything

- So Bhagavad-gita is the right book to understand about that brahma, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or the Absolute Truth, whatever you call. The Absolute Truth is known in three phases: Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan
- So even one has no experience, if he goes to the experienced man, experienced person, then you can understand and you can love God, and that is perfection of life
- So everyone is inquisitive, every one of us, even the animals, birds, beasts, everyone, inquisitive. But when one becomes inquisitive to understand God, then his human life is fulfilled. Then he is actually in human life
- So far we are concerned we are following the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and we see the knowledge given in the Bhagavad-gita is quite perfect in the matter of understanding God
- So here it is suggested that if you are actually serious about tattva-jijnasa, to understand the Absolute Truth, this is the process. What is that? Tat sraddadhanah. Sraddha
- So how we can think that there is no control, there is no government, everything has come out of its own course? There is controller, and He is called Isvara. Isvara means God. There is management of God. It is very commonsense understanding
- So if you are actually serious to understand how God created, why don't you come to Vedic literature? That is the duty of every student
- So if you have got any other method to understand yourself & God, you can follow. We have no objection. But our method is that. We want to test that by following some method, either call it religious or cultural, whether you have understood yourself & God
- So long one is accustomed to kill animals, he will never be able to understand what is God. That is Buddha philosophy. He situated the atheistic people on the line of understanding God
- So spiritual education means, spiritual enlightenment means, first of all, we must try to understand the jiva. Because jiva is the small particle of the Lord. So that we can understand the quality of the Lord
- So the Vedanta-sutra says, athato brahma jijnasa, unless one is inquisitive to understand about Brahman or the supreme spirit or the basic principle of our life
- So this Krsna consciousness movement is a great science of understanding what is God. Simply with vague idea, "There is God," that is not sufficient
- So we cannot speculate about God, but we can understand about God from authorities. This is the conception of Bhagavata-dharma. So the human life is especially meant for understanding God. That is the version of the Vedanta-sutra, Vedanta philosophy
- So we have to save ourself from this misconception of life. Then we can make progress in the matter of understanding what is God
- So we should give up this habit of speculating to understand God. One should become submissive, jnane prayasam udapasya namanta eva, that very submissive to hear from the right person
- So when we become free from all designations, then we are pure, and in that pure state we can understand what is God. So God is pure, and when you become pure you can understand what is God
- Some scholars argue that because Narayana has four hands whereas Sri Krsna has only two, Narayana is the original Personality of Godhead and Krsna is His incarnation. Such unintelligent scholars do not understand the features of the Absolute
- Sometimes we are misled by misleaders; therefore we still remain in darkness in spite of cultivating knowledge. But actually, when we cultivate knowledge under the guidance of real guru, then we can understand vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma su-durlabhah
- Soul is a minute particle of God. If one cannot understand about this minute particle, then what he'll understand of the Supreme?
- Spiritual knowledge means fully understanding the Absolute Truth in three features - impersonal Brahman, localized Paramatma and the all-powerful Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra must be understood to be devoid of all offenses
- Sri Narada Muni was hearing from Him. So in the statement given by Narayana Rsi to Narada Muni, as narrated by Kumara Sanandana in the form of the Veda-stuti, it is understood that God is the one supreme and that all others are His servants
- Srila Madhvacarya says that less intelligent nondevotees think that their conclusion is the ultimate, but because devotees are completely learned, they can understand that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the ultimate goal

- The Absolute Truth exists in three phases of spiritual understanding - Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan (brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate (SB 1.2.11)). Bhagavan, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the cause of Brahman and Paramatma
- The Absolute Truth is explained as Brahman, the all-pervading spiritual effulgence; as Paramatma, the localized Supersoul; or as Bhagavan, the Supreme Lord. Understanding these is what Vedanta-sutra means when it says, athato brahma jijnasa
- The Absolute Truth is one, but according to our understanding, some are accepting the Absolute Truth as impersonal Brahman, some of them accepting the Absolute Truth as the localized Paramatma
- The Absolute Truth is ultimately understood as Bhagavan, partially understood as Paramatma and vaguely understood as the impersonal Brahman
- The Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, is at least partially understood by devotees of the Lord, but the Mayavadi philosophers, who unnecessarily speculate to understand the Absolute Truth, simply waste their time
- The Acarya continued, "If one receives but a tiny bit of the Lord's favor by dint of devotional service, he can understand the nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead"
- The active manifestation of the virat-purusa is described. Persons who are in the lower grade of understanding regarding the Supreme Personality of Godhead may think of the universal form of the Lord, for that is advised in the Bhagavatam
- The activities of devotional service are suddha-sattva; in other words, they are on the transcendental platform. Only by devotional service can one understand the Supreme
- The aim of Vedic knowledge is to understand God. Therefore those who are actually following Vedic knowledge and searching after God cannot commit sinful activities against the Supreme Lord’s order

- The Bhagavad-gita confirms that anyone who understands the transcendental nature of the Lord's appearance, activities and disappearance becomes eligible for freedom from material bondage upon quitting the present material tabernacle
- The Bhagavad-gita is the ABCD. It is just beginning of understanding of what is God. ABC. When one has passed the entrance examination, then he gets the opportunity of studying Srimad-Bhagavatam

- The distinction between the Lord and the living entity is definitely experienced when there is sufficient intelligence to understand His internal potency, as distinguished from the external potency by which He makes possible the material manifestation
- The duty of human life is to understand God, Krsna. In the Vedanta-sutra, the first aphorism is athato brahma jijnasa. Athah, "therefore." Because we have got this human form of body, so this is the time for inquiring about the Absolute Truth

- The goal of life is Visnu, or the Supreme Lord, or God. That one has to understand what is the Supreme Lord, what is Absolute Truth, - What is my relationship with Him and what is my duty towards Him
- The highest intellectual and pious living entities live in those planets (Janaloka, Tapoloka and Satyaloka), and when they heard the extraordinary voice of the boar, they could understand that the specific sound was vibrated by the Lord and no one else
- The highest perfectional knowledge is knowledge of the Supreme Lord. He cannot be understood by any process of religion other than devotional service; therefore, the immediate result of perfect knowledge is achieved by executing devotional service

- The impersonalists' understanding of God is called nirakara. Nih means "negative" and akara means "form," so nirakara means "negative form." The impersonalists are mistaken when they think that God has no form at all
- The intermediate devotee understands who God is, who is a devotee, who is a nondevotee and who is innocent, and he deals with such persons differently
- The knowledge of the self and Supreme Self is very confidential and mysterious, but such knowledge and specific realization can be understood if explained with their various aspects by the Lord Himself
- The living entity can take advantage of such guidance (of spiritual master externally to understand God) and make his life successful
- The Lord (Krsna) says in BG 7.1, asamsayam samagram mam yatha jnasyasi tac chrnu. In other words, if one wants to understand the SPG in completeness, one must follow the prescriptions given by Krsna by following in the footsteps of Maharaja Ambarisa
- The Lord (Krsna) says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 15.15), vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyah: understanding the Supreme Personality of Godhead through the process of the Vedas is perfect and conclusive
- The Lord affirms in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.54-55): One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is only by devotional service. And when one is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God
- The Lord existed before the creation, and consequently He is eternal and unchanging. Therefore how can any human being, however great a scientist or philosopher he may be, understand the ways of the Supreme Personality of Godhead?
- The Lord has no material form, but His form is always understood in terms of the Vedas. The Vedas are said to be the breath of the Lord, and that breath was inhaled by Brahma, the original student of the Vedas
- The Lord has nothing to do with material activities. One who understands the appearance, disappearance and activities of the Lord is immediately liberated
- The Lord is always possessed of an eternal form of knowledge and bliss, and that is the difference between the Lord and the living entity. One can understand this difference by the process of bhakti-yoga
- The Lord is by nature the reservoir of all pleasures, and because He wants to enjoy pleasure, there must be energies to give Him pleasure or supply Him the impetus for pleasure. This is the perfect philosophical understanding of the Absolute Truth
- The Lord is glorified as one without a second and as the supreme truth who has no beginning. Therefore He is called Anantadeva (unlimited). Who can understand Him
- The Lord is one and that He is expanded in everything. This is understood by the Vedic version: sarvam khalv idam brahma. One who knows this concentrates all his energy in worshiping Lord Visnu
- The Lord is the cause of everything. The living entities are innumerable, but the Lord is one. No one is greater than Him, and no one is equal to Him. Thus the Lord is the supreme worshipable object, as understood from the Vedic mantras
- The Lord is the master of material nature, & the conditioned souls are under the stringent rules of material nature. Unless one understands these bare facts, it is not possible to achieve peace in the world either individually or collectively. BG 1972 p
- The Lord is the purest, and thus anyone who wants to serve the Supreme Lord must also be pure. Unless a person is pure, he can neither understand what the Personality of Godhead is nor engage in His service in love
- The Lord is very kind and He awards right understanding of His transcendental Supreme Personality to His faithful devotee. And there is no such thing as material pangs for such a pure devotee of the Lord, because the Lord protects His devotees
- The Lord never says that one can understand Him by performing mystic yoga or by philosophically speculating. Bhakti is above all such material attempts
- The Lord personally says that no one can understand Him but the bhaktas, who are transcendental to all material qualities
- The Lord says that any person who simply understands His transcendental activities and His appearance and disappearance in this material world becomes liberated, and that after quitting his present body he at once reaches His abode
- The Lord says that not even the great rsis and suras can know Him. And what to speak of the asuras, for whom there is no question of understanding the ways of the Lord?
- The Lord says, "I am not exposed to anyone and everyone." When Krsna came, He was actually present on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, and everyone saw Him. But not everyone could understand that He was the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- The Lord should be understood by the context of this verse. Nondependence of both the energies of the Lord is explained as maya, or illusion
- The Lord's glories and the Lord Himself are identical. One has to be qualified to understand this absolute truth; therefore one should be given a chance to associate with a pure devotee. Our Krsna consciousness movement is meant for this purpose
- The Lord's purpose was to cheat him, Bali Maharaja took pleasure in understanding how the Lord will cheat His devotee to glorify the devotee's position
- The Mayavadi philosophers understand Visnu to be a product of material nature, but if Visnu is a product of material nature, He can only be counted amongst the demigods. One who considers Visnu to be a demigod is certainly mistaken and misled
- The members of the Bhagavata school, adopting the perfect conception of the Lord, accept His inconceivable potencies and thus understand that He is both personal and impersonal
- The more we become advanced in understanding God, KC, then we are human being. And if we are more advanced, then you are devata, demigods. And when you more make advance, then you become fit for going back to home, back to Godhead. This is the process
- The offenses against the chanting of the holy name are as follows: (10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter
- The oneness of understanding that the Supreme Lord is spiritual and that in full spiritual realization one can understand what He is - Supreme Personality of Godhead - is called kaivalya, or, in the language of Patanjali, realization of spiritual power
- The only way to understand the Lord as He is, is by devotional service to the Lord, or by approaching the devotee of the Lord who always has the Lord in his heart

- The paramahamsa stage of existence is the highest perfectional stage of spiritual values. According to Srimati Kuntidevi, the Lord is factually understood by the paramahamsas only
- The perfection of life is to be spiritually educated and to understand the existence of the Lord and how He creates, maintains and annihilates the cosmic manifestation
- The person who understands this (BG 4.14) transcendental nature of the Lord is an experienced man in Krsna consciousness, and thus he is never subjected to the laws of karma. BG 1972 purports
- The personified Vedas continued to pray. "Dear Lord," they said, "from all Vedic information it is understood that You are the supreme controller and all living entities are controlled"
- The personified Vedas continued, "Although it is not befitting to say that You do not know Yourself, it is practical to understand that because You have unlimited qualities and energies"
- The philosophy of Lord Caitanya, upholding that the Lord is simultaneously one with and different from His creation (acintya-bhedabheda-tattva), is very easily understandable
- The pleasure feature of the Lord is understood by the pure devotees only, and not by others. The impersonalist is satisfied simply by understanding the all-pervasive influence of the Lord. This is called Brahman realization
- The primary principle, to understand God - God is great; we are small, tiny; we are subordinate; we are maintained by God - this idea is everywhere
- The primary principles of Krsna consciousness movement have been briefly described by my disciple Sriman Brahmananda Brahmacari. It is a very important science of God, understanding what is God
- The principles of religion by which one can actually understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead are called bhagavata-dharma. In this narration, therefore, which deals with these principles, actual transcendence is properly described

- The process of understanding the Absolute Truth adopted by the misguided nondualist is very difficult, whereas the devotee's way of understanding the Absolute Truth comes directly from the Lord, who is pleased by devotional service
- The process of understanding the Lord is bhakti. Without bhakti, simply following the Vedic injunctions to understand the Absolute Truth will not be helpful at all
- The purpose of religion is to understand God. And to learn how to love God. That is the purpose. Any religious system. If it teaches you how to love God, then it is first-class

- The purusa, the original person - Bhagavan, Visnu - can be understood only by devotional service. Bhaktya mam abhijanati yavan yas casmi tattvatah: (BG 18.55) only by devotional service can one understand the Supreme Person, who is behind everything
- The quadruple forms have a spiritual existence that can be realized in vasudeva-sattva (suddha-sattva), or unqualified goodness, which accompanies complete absorption in the understanding of Vasudeva
- The question (about God) may be offered in the beginning, but if the question is sincere, and if he takes the answer sincerely, then he will understand about God
- The real human body, the intelligence should be utilized to understand God consciousness, Krsna consciousness
- The real identity of the Absolute Truth must be understood in terms of both His knowledge and His characteristics. Simply to understand the Absolute Truth to be full of knowledge is not sufficient
- The real necessity of human life is to understand God. Not only to understand God superficially, but to understand our eternal relationship with Him, and then prayojana, the ultimate goal of life, is to go back to home, back to Godhead

- The science of God has to be understood in disciplic succession from Brahma, who was first instructed about knowledge of God by God Himself
- The secret of success in understanding the intricacies of knowledge of the Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, is the causeless mercy of the Lord
- The so-called philosopher, theosophists, theologists, these are useless. You cannot speculate to understand the Absolute Truth. That is not possible. Therefore Brahma recommends that one should give up this nonsense practice
- The so-called scientists say that nature acts independently, but they cannot explain what nature is. Nature is nothing but a machine operated by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. When one understands the operator, his problems of life are solved
- The social classes can be further characterized as follows: (1) He whose aim is to understand the Supreme Lord, the Personality of Godhead, and devote himself to the learning of the Vedas and similar literatures is called a brahmana
- The society of varnasrama-dharma - composed of brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas, sudras, grhasthas, vanaprasthas, brahmacaris and sannyasis - is meant to elevate people gradually to the perfect stage of understanding God
- The solution is that the Lord has nothing to do with anything mundane. All His activities are transcendental. This cannot be understood by the mundane speculators
- The soul is important. And if you can study the soul, then you can understand what is God
- The special feature of this human form of body is that he has developed consciousness how to understand God. The animal hasn't got this. And the process of understanding God and to revive our relationship with God is called bhagavata-dharma
- The SPG orders, "Supply Me this," & the devotee directly serves the Lord by supplying what He wants. There are different realizations of the Absolute Truth, & although He is equal to everyone it is up to us to understand Him according to our advancement
- The spiritual activities of bhakti-marga-sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam (SB 7.5.23) - lead one to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- The spiritual life means to understand yourself and understand God and understand your relationship with God and act accordingly. That is spiritual life. It is not difficult
- The success of human form of life is to understand this thing: our relationship with God. And we should act in relationship with God. Then our success of life will be achieved. This is the main purpose of Krsna consciousness movement
- The supreme cause can be understood only by devotional service, as stated in Bhagavad-gita (bhaktya mam abhijanati) - BG 18.55
- The Supreme Lord is eternally distinguished from the living entities by His internal potency, although He is also understood in His impersonal feature by self-realized intelligence
- The Supreme Lord is the Supersoul of all the demigods entrusted with the task of constructing the cosmic manifestation. Being thus prayed to (by the demigods), He thought to Himself and thus manifested the gigantic form for their understanding
- The Supreme Lord, by His plenary portion as Paramatma, is present in everyone's heart. Such an understanding of the Supreme is real knowledge. BG 1972 purports
- The supreme man is the first-class man, and the others, who are below God understanding, or Krsna consciousness, they are second class, third class, fourth class, fifth class, like that. This is the classification
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead appears in order to teach us Vedic principles intended for understanding Him (vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyah) - BG 15.15
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead cannot be understood by any means except bhakti. The Lord confirms this in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.14.21). Bhaktyaham ekaya grahyah: "only by executing devotional service can one appreciate Me
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead has His eternal form, which cannot be seen by material eyes or mental speculation. Only by transcendental devotional service can one understand the transcendental form of the Lord
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is always trying to give the individual soul the intelligence to understand about Himself
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is full with six opulences. All of these potencies are on the transcendental platform. To understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead as impersonal and devoid of potency is to go completely against Vedic information
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is principally not divided, but He is understood under six primary features. The primary, first feature is guru
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is situated in everyone's heart as Paramatma. A wise man who can understand Him is eligible to attain the perfect peace, not others. BG 1972 purports

- The Supreme Truth is realized in 3 aspects: as impersonal Brahman, localized Paramatma and as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. So at the last stage of understanding the Absolute Truth, one comes to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. BG 1972 purports
- The Supreme Truth is so great that it is not possible to understand Him or to achieve Him simply by making a mental effort. BG 1972 purports
- The symptoms of the Lord's activities are all mentioned in the sastras, and after one understands them one can accept the Lord as He is
- The test is how much you are advanced in understanding God. If you do not understand God, if you have no obedience to God, that is not dharma
- The transcendental forms of the Lord are beyond the reach of the impersonalists, who can only understand, through the studies of the Upanisads, that the Absolute Truth is not matter and that the Absolute Truth is not materially restricted
- The true understanding is that God is the supreme master and that all of us are servants of the Supreme Lord and are therefore on the same platform
- The ultimate cause, the supreme cause of creation, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who can be understood only by bhakti-yoga

- They (Mayavadis) have all missed the real point: the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or the Absolute Truth, can be understood only by devotional service
- They (the great sages Kavi, Mahavira and Savana) could understand that the Supersoul within the heart is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and they could recognize their identity with Him

- This (CC Madhya 9.158) is the way to understand the truth about the SP of Godhead. After hearing the Bhagavad-gita, Arjuna said very much the same thing: sarvam etad rtam manye yan mam vadasi kesava, na hi te bhagavan vyaktim vidur deva na danavah

- Those who are truly vipascit, learned, are those who have reached the platform of understanding and observing the Supreme Personality of Godhead in any condition of life. premanjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti - BS 5.38
- Those who are trying to capture the Supreme Personality of Godhead within the heart - yogis, - they understand Krsna, or God, as Paramatma, the Supersoul
- Those who believe in God, generally they approach God in distress, when they're in need of money, and somebody wants to study what is God out of inquisitiveness, and somebody wants to understand the science of God
- Through the principles of religion, one can understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Brahman (the impersonal feature of the Supreme Lord) and Paramatma (the localized aspect of the Lord)
- To accept the real fact, so many big, big brains, politician, but they have no sense to understand that the whole earthly planet belongs to God. It is created by God. It is the property of God
- To understand God and the devotee by the parampara system is the process of knowledge. There is no need to speculate about God and His devotee. One should accept the statements of a bona fide devotee and thus try to understand
- To understand God is not so difficult or easy job. Only the fortunate, pious, nice people can understand God. Not ordinary. But we are giving facilities to everyone to understand God. That is our mission

- Ultimately, to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead one has to accept bhakti-yoga. By executing jnana-yoga or dhyana-yoga one has to eventually approach the bhakti-yoga platform, and then Paramatma, isvara, puman, etc., are all clearly understood
- Understanding God means first of all understanding His name. Therefore from the beginning we should chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra. God is not different from His name. Krsna's name and Krsna's person are the same
- Understanding of God, or Krsna, is that one should be firmly convinced that God is never born, nor He is caused by anything. He is the cause of all causes. But He is not caused by anything. This is the difference
- Understanding of the Supreme person is called atma-tattva-avabodhena, which means "understanding of one's real constitutional position"
- Understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead without reference to these scientific books, Vedic literature, it is simply a disturbance, simply rascaldom

- Unfortunately, the living entities have forgotten that this is in their best interest (to understand the Supreme Lord), and therefore Srimad-Bhagavatam says, na te viduh svartha-gatim hi visnum - SB 7.5.31
- Unless a wise jnanavan, jnani, does not reach to the platform of understanding the personality, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his intelligence is still not very much purified
- Unless one comes to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his realization of impersonal Brahman is imperfect
- Unless one engages in the devotional service of the Lord, it is impossible to understand the ultimate form of the Lord

- Vedic knowledge means ultimately to understand the Supreme Lord, and the process of entering into His kingdom is devotional service. That is accepted by all authentic scriptures
- Very simple thing, that you are part and parcel of God. God is eternal. So if you understand God, then you become eternal

- Visnu is the Supreme Lord, Supreme Personality of Godhead. People, they do not know what is the ultimate goal of life. The ultimate goal of life is to understand the Lord

- We are given the opportunity by nature to utilize our consciousness, to utilize our intelligence, to understand God. But if we do not utilize, if we live like cats and dog, then next life we have to accept, by nature's law, the body of cats and dogs
- We are giving a great contribution to the human society, to understand God, or Krsna. This is Krsna consciousness movement. So you can understand God by becoming a devotee. That is not very difficult task
- We are part and parcel of Krsna, and our business is to satisfy Krsna. From the Vedas we understand that God, who is one, has become many. We are the many parts and parcels of Krsna
- We are preaching God's glory. We are publishing book for understanding God. We are cooking for feeding God. So many, all our activities are meant for serving the Lord, that's all
- We can better understand the mercy of God by an example: a government state is always supposed to be merciful, but sometimes, in order to keep law & order, the government employs its police force, & thus punishment is meted out to the rebellious citizens
- We can certainly imagine how deteriorated human civilization will be by the end of Kali-yuga. Indeed, there will no longer be a sane man capable of understanding God and our relationship with Him
- We can understand about the Absolute Truth by evolving transcendental knowledge, and the result of such transcendental knowledge will be manifested by renunciation. That renunciation is not temporary or artificial, but is very strong
- We can understand from Brahma-samhita that the brahmajyoti, or the Brahman effulgence, emanates from the body of the Supreme Lord. And from the Brahman effulgence, all creation takes place
- We can understand His (the Supreme Personality of Godhead's) opulences in different ways - Svet. Up. 6.8 - CC Madhya 13.65, purport
- We can understand that God created this cosmic manifestation. But in the paper we read the other day that the scientific men believe that there was a chunk in the beginning, and all of a sudden it burst out and the planets came out
- We can understand that the Lord, by the omnipresent rays of His effulgence, called brahma-jyotir, is all-pervading inside or outside of everything, like the omnipresent material sky, and thus He is also omniscient
- We can understand that when the Supreme Lord appears or disappears as an incarnation, there is no other cause than His pleasure potency. We cannot force the Supreme Personality of Godhead to appear
- We can understand the pastimes of the Lord by following one or some of the authorized devotional processes

- We cannot understand what is Krsna, or God - His name, His form, His attributes, His pastimes . . . we cannot understand by these blunt material senses. Then how it is to be understood? After all, this human life is meant for understanding God
- We foolishly see the activities of material nature without understanding the supreme order and Supreme Person behind them
- We go to the human society to speak of Krsna consciousness. We do not go to the society of animals, because they have no capacity to understand. Their body does not permit to understand what is God
- We have a chance to know about Krsna provided we read the right literature under the right direction, and if we simply know what the nature of God is, then by understanding this one fact alone we become liberated
- We have come from God; we again go back to God if we simply understand Krsna, or God. This is the whole instruction of the Bhagavad-gita
- We have to please Him (the Supreme Lord) with devotional service, and then He will reveal Himself to us. Then we can understand Him to some extent

- We have to understand how great He is. Not that simply sophistically, "God is great, and I do everything. God cannot see. Let me commit all kinds of sin." But God is great; He will see. "No, no, God cannot see. I can cheat God, although He is great"
- We have to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead from the devotees. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself says, guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija - CC Madhya 19.151
- We have to understand what God is and what He says, and we have to abide by His orders. Then there is real religion, there is real understanding of God, and everything is complete
- We hear, of course - that is most important thing. Just like every one of us heard that, "God is great." So analyzing all this sensual knowledge, this particular knowledge, by hearing, is the only way for understanding God
- We may say that we have understood God, but it is not possible to understand Him as He is, because we have limited senses, and He is unlimited
- We must understand the Supreme Person, tattvatah, in truth. Generally people are not interested in knowing about God or their relationship with Him. However, the entire Vedic instruction is for this purpose

- We should know that our aim of life should be to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We should make every arrangement - social, political, philosophical or religious - but the aim should be to approach the Supreme person
- We should not understand the process of impregnation by the Personality of Godhead in terms of our conception of sex. The omnipotent Lord can impregnate just by His eyes, and therefore He is called all-potent
- We should not understand the sleeping condition of the Lord to be the same as our sleep. Here the word yoga-nidra is specifically mentioned, which indicates that the Lord's sleeping condition is also a manifestation of His internal potency
