- Arjuna submitted the three different questions (BG 14.21), & the Lord answers them one after another. In these verses (22-25), Krsna first indicates that a person transcendentally situated neither envies anyone nor hankers for anything. BG 1972 purports
- Arjuna summarized the purpose of the Bhagavad-gita by his realization of Lord Sri Krsna and thus said, "My dear Lord, You are the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Original Person in the eternal form of bliss and knowledge, and this is confirmed by Narada

- Arjuna's acceptance of Krsna as the supreme pure complies with the injunctions of Vedic literature. This is also confirmed by great personalities, of whom Narada is the chief. BG 1972 purports

- Arya-samaj means one who knows his duty, how to do it in proper time. So ksatriya, his duty is to fight, to defend from the hands of the enemy. So he was declining to fight, so He chastised him, - Non-Aryans. You are not Aryan
- Arya-samaja does not mean to become rascal and fool and deny the existence of God. No. That is Anarya. Just like Krsna rebuked Arjuna: anarya-justa. "You are talking like anarya"
- Aryan civilization means this Vedic civilization. Just like Arjuna, a ksatriya, belonged to the Aryan civilization, and because he was denying to fight, Krsna accused him, "Oh, this is just like non-Aryans." Anarya-justam, non-Aryans
- Aryan means "advanced." Formerly, those who claimed to be Aryans had to be devotees of the Lord. For instance, in Bhagavad-gita (BG 2.2) Krsna chastised Arjuna by saying that he was speaking like a non-Aryan
- Aryan means advanced in knowledge. He's called Aryan. And anarya means uncivilized. So immediately He (Krsna) rebukes him, anarya-justam - You are talking just like non-Aryan, uncivilized person

- At that time (when he witnessed the universal form) Arjuna forgot himself and could not understand that he was Arjuna, Krsna's friend, although he was always dependent upon Krsna's mercy. This incident is an example of inferior dependence

- Because Krsna was the well-wisher of the Pandavas, He also acted as guru by becoming the spiritual master of Arjuna. Arjuna accepted Krsna as his spiritual master (sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam tvam prapannam (BG 2.7)), and Krsna sometimes chastised him

- Do those who do not follow the rules and regulations of the scriptures but who have faith in something and worship gods and demigods and men attain success in their effort? Arjuna is putting these questions to Krsna. BG 1972 purports

- Even after being liberated from illusion, the living entity remains a separate identity, as is evident from the teachings of the Lord to Arjuna. BG 1972 purports
- Even at the present moment those who do not accept Krsna as the Supreme Lord are accepting the knowledge given by Krsna to Arjuna. So in this way they are accepting Krsna indirectly

- Even the most intelligent men will be bewildered regarding the standard actions of Krsna consciousness. For this reason, the Lord (Krsna) decided to instruct Arjuna in Krsna consciousness directly. BG 1972 purports

- Every man is in difficulty in so many ways, as Arjuna also was in difficulty in having to fight the Battle of Kuruksetra. Arjuna surrendered unto Sri Krsna, and consequently this Bhagavad-gita was spoken. BG 1972 Introduction

- Everyone in the flames of material miseries can find the path of liberation in You (Krsna)
- Externally we can see that both parties are engaged in fighting, but we should understand that Arjuna is not bound by reactions because he is fighting under the order of Krsna

- Following him were his young brothers Nakula and Sahadeva, along with Arjuna, and they all became so overwhelmed at seeing Krsna that with full satisfaction they embraced the Lord, who is known as Acyuta (the infallible)
- Following in the footsteps of Sri Arjuna, who is a personal devotee of the Lord, one should accept the supremacy of Lord Krsna, as supported by Nimbarka and Visnu Svami and still later by the greatest acarya, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- Following in the footsteps of Sri Arjuna, who is a personal devotee of the Lord, one should accept the supremacy of Lord Krsna, as supported by Vyasa, Devala, Asita, Narada and later by the acaryas Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya
- For himself there was no desire to fight, but for Krsna the same Arjuna fought to his best ability. Desire for the satisfaction of Krsna is really desirelessness; it is not an artificial attempt to abolish desires. BG 1972 purports
- For his doing so (Arjuna changing his decision to serve Krsna) so, he became a famous devotee of the Lord, for it is declared in all the scriptures that Arjuna attained spiritual perfection by devotional service to the Lord in friendship

- For them (the demons who do not like the idea that Krsna should be accepted as the Supreme Personality of Godhead) only Arjuna inquires on this point (BG 4.4), as if he were himself not aware of the Personality of Godhead, or Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- For those who are sleeping in the darkness of ignorance, it is not possible to understand how the Supreme Godhead manifests Himself in the material and spiritual worlds. Thus this address by Krsna to Arjuna is significant. BG 1972 purports

- Give up all varieties of religiousness, and just surrender unto Me; and in return I shall protect you from all sinful reactions. Therefore, you have nothing to fear. - This verse is actually the essence of the whole Bhagavad Gita

- He (Arjuna) asks Krsna to become his spiritual master and teach him. The lessons given by Sri Krsna are not simply meant for Arjuna but for everyone
- He (Arjuna) became perfect by his own profession. How? Because he satisfied Krsna. So you can be situated in any position. That does not matter. But try to satisfy Krsna. That is Krsna consciousness movement: how to satisfy Krsna. It is not very difficult
- He (Arjuna) belonged to the royal family and was highly elevated in terms of numerous qualities; he was a great warrior, he had great longevity, &, above all, he was the most intimate friend of Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. BG 1972 purports

- He (Jarasandha) thought, "Under the circumstances, I am prepared to give them (Krsna, Arjuna and Bhima) anything. Even if they ask for my body, I shall not hesitate to offer it to them." In this regard, he began to think of Bali Maharaja

- He (Krsna) is the original spiritual master because He was accepted by Arjuna. So what is the difficulty? Sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam tvam prapannam (BG 2.7). Arjuna told the Lord, - I am Your disciple, & a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct me
- He (Krsna) may be speaking Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna, but at no time was He ever taught Bhagavad-gita. One who can understand that this is Krsna's position does not have to return to the cycle of birth and death in this material world
- He (Krsna) played the part of the charioteer, while Arjuna was given the chance to play the fighter and thus become the hero of the Battle of Kuruksetra
- He (Krsna) plays exactly like an equal friend with the cowherd boys or even with friends like Arjuna

- He is within everything, even within the atom (andantara-stha-paramanu-cayantara-stham (Bs. 5.35)). Krsna is within and He is also without. Thus Krsna showed Arjuna His external feature as the visva-rupa, the gigantic cosmic manifestation
- He said, yadrcchaya copapannam svarga-dvaram apavrtam: Arjuna, you are hesitating to fight, but it is a great opportunity for you. Because as a ksatriya, if you kill these cheaters and rogues, that will be a great achievement for you
- He very intelligently appointed Krsna as his spiritual master. Because everyone is in perplexity about the problem of life. So this very thing happened to Arjuna, and he wanted to go to spiritual master for solution
- He who meditates on Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his mind constantly engaged in remembering Me, undeviated from the path, he, O Arjuna, is sure to reach Me
- He who meditates on the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his mind constantly engaged in remembering Me (Krsna), undeviated from the path, he, O Partha (Arjuna), is sure to reach Me
- He who meditates on the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his mind constantly engaged in remembering Me, undeviated from the path, he, O Partha (Arjuna), is sure to reach Me. BG 8.8 - 1972

- He's (the brahmin) simply thinking of the activities of Krsna and Arjuna. That's all. That is perfect reading of Bhagavad-gita. It does not require to read Bhagavad-gita by your academic education
- He(Krsna) accompanied Arjuna to see how he was practicing because in the future he would have to kill many enemies
- Here (in BG 1.15) on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra the Lord directly controls the transcendental senses of Arjuna, and thus His particular name of Hrsikesa. BG 1972 purports
- Here (in BG 18.63) Lord Krsna telIs Arjuna that he can do as he chooses. God does not interfere with the little independence of the living entity. BG 1972 purports

- Here Krsna is addressing Arjuna, anarya: non-Aryan. - You are ksatriya. Your service is now required to fight with persons who have created injustice. So what is this, that you are denying to fight
- Here, Bhagavad-gita, He's revealing Himself to Arjuna, because he's a devotee. So if we take the words of Arjuna, then we also realize God
- His (Arjuna's) work, although appearing material, was not material at all. Any action sanctioned by Krsna - regardless of what it may be - has no reaction
- His (Krsna's) body is called here (in BG 9.11) manusim because He is acting just like a man, a friend of Arjuna's, a politician involved in the Battle of Kuruksetra. BG 1972 purports
- His (Krsna's) diminishing the duration of life of Arjuna's enemy does not mean that He was partial to the cause of Arjuna
- His (Lord Krsna) name is Partha-sarathi because He worked as charioteer of His friend Arjuna. Similarly, His name is Hrsikesa because He gave direction to Arjuna on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra. BG 1972 purports
- His (Yudhisthira) actual arms were Krsna and Arjuna, and thus he surpassed everyone's opulence. Duryodhana, being envious of this opulence, planned so many schemes to put Yudhisthira into difficulty, and at last the Battle of Kuruksetra was brought about
- His friendship with Arjuna was so intimate that when Arjuna prepared himself to die by entering a fire, Krsna wanted to give him complete protection

- His thighs are compared with the trunks of elephants, and his eyes are always reddish. When Krsna and Arjuna are together on a chariot, they become celestial beauties, pleasing to the eyes of everyone
- How could Arjuna act impiously? He could not, because Krsna's service is transcendental to pious and impious activity. At midnight, when the gopis heard the sound of Krsna's flute, they ran to the forest to join Him
- How He instructed him? Just like exactly Arjuna was instructed by Krsna. Krsna is person and Arjuna is person. Person-to-person talk
- How is it possible to prove nonviolence from Bhagavad-gita? The very theme of Bhagavad-gita involves Arjuna's reluctance to fight and Krsna's inducing him to kill his opponents
- How is it that Krsna is asking Arjuna to become a yogi and at the same time participate in a ghastly civil war. That is the mystery of Bhagavad-gita
- How should I meditate on You? In what various forms are You to be contemplated, O Blessed Lord? BG 10.17 - 1972
- Human life is meant for understanding our situation, and we should take instructions from Bhagavad-gita. Arjuna is personally teaching us by accepting Krsna as his guru
I
- I (Arjuna) am now unable to stand here any longer. I am forgetting myself, and my mind is reeling. I see only causes of misfortune, O Krsna, killer of the Kesi demon
- I (Arjuna) fall down to offer You my respectful obeisances and ask Your mercy. As a father tolerates the impudence of his son, a friend the impertinence of a friend, or a husband the familiarity of his wife, please tolerate the wrongs I may have done You
- I (Arjuna) have just lost Him (Krsna) whose separation for a moment would render all the universes unfavorable and void, like bodies without life
- I (Arjuna) offer my respect to Him (Krsna), because understanding Him means understanding the Vedas and He is therefore the supreme spiritual master
- I (Krsna) have heard that after King Pandu's death, his young sons - Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva - along with their widowed mother, have come under the charge of Dhrtarastra, who is to look after them as their guardian
- I (Krsna) have personally heard you (Arjuna) promise Draupadi that you would bring forth the head of the killer of her sons
- I am not this body... As Krsna wanted to impress upon Arjuna in the beginning of His teaching of Bhagavad-gita: "First of all try to understand what you are."
- I am the strength of the strong, devoid of passion and desire. I am sex life which is not contrary to religious principles, O Lord of the Bharatas (Arjuna) - BG. 7.11
- I am the strength of the strong, devoid of passion and desire. I am sex life which is not contrary to religious principles, O Lord of the Bharatas (Arjuna). BG 7.11 - 1972

- I must present things exactly in the same way as it was presented by Krsna, as it was presented by Arjuna, as it was presented by our acaryas, Caitanya, and at last my spiritual master. So, similarly, if you take up the K.C. movement in the same spirit
- I shall now declare unto you in full this knowledge both phenomenal and noumenal, by knowing which there shall remain nothing further to be known. BG 7.2 - 1972
- I shall now explain the knowable, knowing which you will taste the eternal. This is beginningless, and it is subordinate to Me. It is called Brahman, the spirit, and it lies beyond the cause and effect of this material world. BG 13.13 - 1972
- If Arjuna abandoned the battle, he would be committing an infamous act; therefore Krsna said that such an attitude in Arjuna did not fit his personality. BG 1972 purports
- If both of them (Krsna and Arjuna) are deluded by the illusory energy (maya), then there is no need of one being the instructor and the other the instructed. BG 1972 purports
- If by dying one can be elevated to the higher planetary systems and be ever-famous after his death, who is so foolish that he will refuse such a glorious death? Similar advice was also given by Krsna to Arjuna
- If endowment of powers and withdrawal of powers by the Lord are possible even for a great devotee like Arjuna, or even the demigods in heaven, then what to speak of the ordinary living beings who are but figs compared to such great souls
- If it is possible we can do that, but that does not make any difference if I cannot argue with others or if I cannot teach very nicely Bhagavad-gita to others. Simply if I remember this picture (Arjuna hearing BG from Krsna), that is perfection
- If one is pure devotee, then Krsna, from within, He will give knowledge. The Krsna . . . just like Krsna is giving knowledge to Arjuna. He's a grhastha. He's a soldier. He's not even a brahmin
- If one is pure devotee, then Krsna, from within, He will give knowledge. The Krsna... Just like Krsna is giving knowledge to Arjuna. He's a grhastha. He's a soldier. He's not even a brahmana. But who can be greater man of knowledge than Arjuna?
- If one, with faith, follows some rules which are not mentioned in the scriptural injunctions, what is his position? This doubt of Arjuna is to be cleared by Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- If Sri Krsna is called caturbhujah, there is no contradiction. If need be He can display hundreds of arms, as He exhibited in His visva-rupa shown to Arjuna
- If there is any reluctance (on the part of Arjuna) to execute such a stern order (from Krsna) which is without consideration of so-called kinsmen in the bodily relationship, that reluctance should be thrown off. BG 1972 purports
- If there is little doubt, he can submissively make question. Just like Arjuna made question to Krsna
- If we accept the words of Arjuna and Krsna, it may be possible for us to understand Bhagavad-gita, but if we want to interpret it in our own way, the results will be nonsensical
- If we approach a perfect person and submissively hear from him, then the knowledge is perfect. So Krsna is accepted as the supreme authority, as Arjuna quoted Ahus tvam rsayah sarve - All the rsis, great saintly persons, they have accepted You
- If we follow Arjuna and Krsna, then we get the perfect knowledge. May not be cent per cent perfect, but as far as possible, if we follow the instruction as it is, that much perfect. In this way one will get perfection
- If we follow Arjuna, Arjuna's decision should be taken. Arjuna decision is - Krsna is param brahma
- If we take Bhagavad-gita seriously, then we should follow the footprints of Arjuna as he understood. He accepted Krsna as the Parambrahman
- If we take the position of Arjuna - sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam - then Krsna will speak to the disciple like Arjuna, and everything will be clear
- If we think that because Krsna acts in a particular way - as on the battlefield He gave instructions to Arjuna to fight - He is bound by the reactions of His activities, we are mistaken. "Works do not defile Me," Sri Krsna says - na mam karmani limpanti
- If we think that we can be happy without Krsna consciousness, Krsna does not object to that. Yathecchasi tatha kuru (BG 18.63). After advising Arjuna, He simply said - Now I have explained everything to you. Whatever you desire, you can do
- If we want to curb lamentation for good, then we have to take shelter of Krsna, as Arjuna is seeking to do. So Arjuna asked Krsna to solve his problem definitely, and that is the way of Krsna consciousness. BG 1972 purports
- If You (Lord Krsna) think that I (Arjuna) am able to behold Your cosmic form, O my Lord, O master of all mystic power, then kindly show me that unlimited universal Self
- If you become conscious of Me, you will pass over all the obstacles of conditional life by My grace. If, however, you do not work in such consciousness but act through false ego, not hearing Me, you will be lost. BG 18.58 - 1972
- If you begin this process (chanting Hare Krsna & eating Krsna prasadam) of service, then it will be possible - one day Krsna will reveal Himself to you: "I am like this." just as Krsna is revealing to Arjuna
- If you do not act according to My direction and do not fight, then you will be falsely directed. By your nature, you will have to be engaged in warfare. BG 18.59 - 1972
- If you want Krsna as loving friend, He's friend of Arjuna. Just like Arjuna and Krsna. So there are twelve kinds of humors. Krsna can be accommodated with all the humors, therefore His name is Akhila-rasamrta-sindhu
- If, however, you do not fight this religious war, then you will certainly incur sins for neglecting your duties and thus lose your reputation as a fighter. BG 2.33 - 1972
- If, however, you think that the soul is perpetually born and always dies, still you have no reason to lament, O mighty-armed. BG 2.26 - 1972

- It (hearing submissively) is the way Arjuna received it from Krsna, and it is the way we must receive it from the disciplic succession stemming from Arjuna
- It (the Bhagavad-gita) was respoken by God again to Arjuna about five thousand years ago. That is the rough estimate of the history of the Gita, according to the Gita itself and according to the version of the speaker, Lord Sri Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- It (universal form of Krsna) was exhibited to Arjuna only, yet some great devotees could also see the universal form of Krsna when it was shown to Arjuna, and Vyasa was one of them. BG 1972 purports

- It is due to Arjuna only that the great philosophical discourses of the Bhagavad-gita were again spoken by the Lord on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra
- It is found in Bhagavad-gita: Although Krsna was doing everything for Arjuna, Arjuna never sat down idly as a nonviolent gentleman. Rather, he tried his best to fight the battle and be victorious
- It is necessary to follow carefully in the footsteps of Arjuna. In previous ages, due to interpretation and mental speculation, the real purport of Bhagavad-gita was lost; therefore Krsna re-established the teachings by giving them to Arjuna - BG 4.2-3
- It is not because Krsna is an intimate friend of Arjuna that he is flattering Him by calling Him the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth. Whatever Arjuna says in these 2 verses (of BG 10.12-13) is confirmed by Vedic truth. BG 1972 purports
- It is not possible for the Brahman realized impersonalist or the Paramatma realized yogi to understand Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the son of mother Yasoda or the charioteer of Arjuna. BG 1972 purports
- It is not possible for the Brahman-realized impersonalist or the Paramatma-realized yogi to understand Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the son of mother Yasoda or the charioteer of Arjuna
- It is not that because Krsna is Arjuna's intimate friend Arjuna is flattering Him by calling Him the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth
- It is not that BG rejects the meditational yoga process; it recognizes it as a bona fide method, but it further indicates that it is not possible in this age. Thus the subject in the Sixth Chapter of BG is quickly dropped by Sri Krsna and Arjuna
- It is not that Krsna is speaking Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna for the first time. It is estimated by Vedic authorities that the Lord imparted these divine instructions to Vivasvan some 400 million years ago
- It is not that they (Krsna, Arjuna and the assembled kings) did not exist as individuals in the past, and it is not that they will not remain eternal persons. BG 1972 purports
- It is said that all the living entities who died on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra attained their original constitutional position (svarupa) because they had the chance to see Krsna face to face riding in the chariot of Arjuna
- It is said that once Arjuna was lying in his bed with his head upon Krsna's lap and was talking and joking with Krsna in great relaxation and was enjoying Krsna's company with smiling and great satisfaction
- It is to be concluded that we are not going to die. Krsna said not only He, but also Arjuna and all other who were present in the battlefield, they will continue to exist. So how we shall exist? That is also discussed
- It is to be understood that all 8,400,000 species of bodily forms originate from the Lord, who is always adi, or the beginning. In Bhagavad-gita Arjuna addresses the Lord as adyam, or the original
- It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am (Krsna) the seed-giving father - BG 14.4. For a further explanation, one may refer to the Brahma-samhita - BS 5.10-13
- It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father. BG 14.4 - 1972

- It was a fact that he (Arjuna) wanted to see them (those who joined the side of Duryodhana) to make an estimate of the strength which he had to face, although he was quite confident of victory because Krsna was sitting by his side. BG 1972 purports
- It was a family fight - so Arjuna was not willing to fight, but Krsna wanted to fight. And after learning from Him the essence of Bhagavad-gita, sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja (BG 18.66), he agreed to fight. That is bhakti-yoga
- It was by His (Krsna's) mercy only that my enemies neglected to kill me (Arjuna) when I descended from my chariot to get water for my thirsty horses
- It was due to my lack of esteem for my Lord (Krsna) that I (Arjuna) dared engage Him as my chariot driver, for He is worshiped and offered services by the best men to attain salvation
- It was during this time that Lord Sri Krsna, with the help of Arjuna, allowed the fire-god, Agni, to devour the Khandava forest for his satisfaction
- It was He (Krsna) who played the trick of taking away the brahmana's baby as well as the arrows, including the one given by Lord Siva, of which Arjuna was so proud

- It was Krsna's program that the warriors were all destined to die, and Krsna gave Arjuna the opportunity of taking the credit of conquering them
- It's better to live in this world by begging than to live at the cost of the lives of great souls who're my teachers. Even though they are avaricious, they're nonetheless superiors. If they are killed, our spoils will be tainted with blood. BG 2.5 - 1972
J
- Jarasandha, being very charitable toward the brahmanas, asked them (Krsna, Bhima & Arjuna) what they wanted & they expressed their desire to fight with him. Then Krsna, dressed as a brahmana, declared to be the same Krsna who was the King's eternal enemy
- Just as Arjuna and Krsna were victorious in the Battle of Kuruksetra, this Krsna consciousness movement will surely emerge victorious if we but remain sincere devotees of the Lord and serve the Lord according to the advice of the predecessors
- Just as Arjuna was made to be illusioned by family affection & thus the Bhagavad-gita was spoken, so the Yadu dynasty was made to be intoxicated by the will of the Lord, nothing more. The devotees & associates of the Lord are completely surrendered souls
- Just as one can cross with no exertion over the little bit of water contained in the hoofprint of a calf, so Arjuna, by the grace of Krsna, was able to very easily jump over the ocean of the Battle of Kuruksetra
- Just as when there is war one person or nation may side with another person or nation and show partiality, Lord Krsna on the battlefield shows some partiality and sides with Arjuna
- Just like Arjuna is hearing from Krsna. Krsna is the most authoritative personality. So similarly, everyone has to hear either from Krsna or from His bona fide representative. That is srotriyam
- Just like Arjuna was asked to fight by Krishna, so it was Prabhupada's dream to make Mayapur a transcendental city
- Just like Arjuna. He fought. He killed. Killing is not good business, but he killed on the advice of Krsna, and he became a bhakta by killing
- Just like in the Bhagavad-gita the master, Krsna, orders Arjuna to fight. He was not willing to fight for his personal interest, but when Krsna ordered him that "You must fight," he fought. That is service
- Just then Arjuna could understand the motive of the Lord by His equivocal orders, and thus with his sword he severed both hair and jewel from the head of Asvatthama
K

- King Pariksit was especially interested in hearing krsna-katha because he knew that his forefathers, particularly his grandfather, Arjuna, were victorious in the great Battle of Kuruksetra only because of Krsna
- King Yudhisthira once said, "Krsna, the chariot driver of Arjuna, is the only relative of mine within the three worlds"
- Krsna acted as the chariot driver of Arjuna, but when Arjuna wanted to see Krsna's universal form, Krsna immediately showed him a cosmic form with thousands and millions of heads, legs, arms, and weapons. This is Krsna
- Krsna addressed Jarasandha as follows: "My dear King, please note that we are not actually brahmanas, nor have we come to ask for food or grain. We are all ksatriyas, & we have come to beg a duel with you. We hope that you will agree to this proposal"
- Krsna addressed Jarasandha as follows: "You may note that here is the second son of King Pandu, Bhimasena, and the third son of Pandu, Arjuna. As for Myself, you may know that I am your old enemy Krsna, the cousin of the Pandavas"
- Krsna addressed the inhabitants of Vrndavana, "My dear Stoka Krsna, Varuthapa, Bhadrasena, Sudama, Subala, Arjuna, Visala, and Rsabha - just look at these most fortunate trees of Vrndavana. They have dedicated their lives to the welfare of others"
- Krsna addressed to Arjuna, "My dear Partha, one who claims to be My devotee is not so. Only a person who claims to be the devotee of My devotee is actually My devotee"
- Krsna advised Arjuna that "You fight," not that we shall not fight. We shall fight to the best. And this is good, they are feeling the pressure of this movement
- Krsna advised Arjuna to perform devotional service, which is the process of transcendental religion
- Krsna advised him to fight. He was, rather, because he was a Vaisnava, he was not willing to fight, to kill. Vaisnava does not like to kill. But if there is necessity . . . just like Arjuna had to kill. That is by the order of Krsna, not by his own will
- Krsna advises Arjuna, traigunya-visaya veda nistraigunyo bhavarjuna: one has to transcend these three modes of material nature, and then one will be released from the cycle of birth and death
- Krsna and Arjuna are related in friendship. As the father tolerates, or the husband or master tolerates, so Krsna tolerates. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna appeared for the mission of diminishing the burden of the world, & Arjuna was assisting Him by fighting on His behalf. Arjuna personally declined to fight, & the whole instruction of the Bhagavad-gita was given to Arjuna to engage him in the fight
- Krsna asked His friend Arjuna to go forward and ask the girl (Kalindi) who she was. By the order of Krsna, Arjuna immediately approached the girl, who was very beautiful
- Krsna assured Arjuna that He sustains the entire universe with just a fragment of Himself. He is the source of everything in this material manifestation, and Arjuna has heard of this from the Lord in detail. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna began this teaching to Arjuna first of all, asocyan anvasocas tvam prajna-vadams ca bhasase (BG 2.11): You are talking like learned scholar, but you are lamenting on the body, which is not at all important
- Krsna bestowed His causeless mercy upon Arjuna just to get him out of the bodily conception. This was done at the very beginning of the Second Chapter of the Bhagavad-gita (BG 2.13), where Krsna says, dehino ’smin yatha dehe kaumaram yauvanam jara
- Krsna confirms this in Bhagavad-gita, wherein He tells Arjuna: Always think of Me and become My devotee. Worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend
- Krsna convinced Lord Balarama that Subhadra was attached to Arjuna, and thus Balarama became pleased to know that she wanted Arjuna as her husband
- Krsna did not deny what Arjuna said. "Yes," He replied. - That's a fact. Because you are in the bodily concept of life, there must be suffering. So you must tolerate it, that's all. There is no other remedy
- Krsna did not encourage him that you should stop fighting. Rather Arjuna was trying to stop fighting. Krsna said, - No. You are ksatriya. You cannot stop fighting
- Krsna did not go to teach Bhagavad-gita to a Vedantist. He went to teach to Arjuna. He was a family man, he was a soldier, but why he was selected? He, Krsna said, bhakto 'si - you are My devotee
- Krsna did not select a so-called Vedantist to understand BG. Because Arjuna was not a Vedantist. He was a military man. He's not supposed to become a great philosopher. He was a grhastha. But the real qualification is to become a devotee of Krsna
- Krsna disappeared along with Baladeva prior to the disappearance of Vasudeva, and Arjuna (Vasudeva's nephew) undertook the charge of the funeral ceremony after Vasudeva's disappearance
- Krsna does not advise Arjuna simply to remember Him and give up his occupation. No, the Lord never suggests anything impractical
- Krsna does not say that ordinary scholar or so-called philosopher can understand. Only the rajarsayo viduh. So Arjuna is one of the rajarsis. So he understood Krsna
- Krsna encouraged Arjuna that "Don't be disappointed, because your mind is always engaged in Me." Arjuna might be anything, but he was always thinking of Krsna. He was always associating with Krsna. He did not know anything else, Krsna
- Krsna engaged Arjuna on the battlefield under His order, and so the fighting became devotional service. Therefore, Arjuna was not subjected to any sinful reaction
- Krsna especially selected Arjuna for instruction in spiritual knowledge because Arjuna happened to be a great devotee and confidential friend. Similarly, great personalities also speak to the advanced, not to sudras, vaisyas, women or unintelligent men
- Krsna essentially told Arjuna that he was fool number one for lamenting for those things for which one should not lament
- Krsna exhibited His causeless mercy when He was present at the departure of Grandfather Bhisma. During the Battle of Kuruksetra, Bhismadeva, the grandfather of Arjuna, was lying on a bed of arrows before departing from this mortal world
- Krsna first informs Arjuna that He is the Self or soul of the entire cosmic manifestation by dint of His primary expansion. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna first of all slapped Arjuna: "You do not know what is the fact, and talking like a very learned man. Just try to understand what is truth." First thing is that, we never die
- Krsna gives Arjuna the following reasons for His descent upon the world (BG 4.8) - In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to re-establish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium
- Krsna gives him the power to see anything he wants to see, past, present and future. Thus by the mercy of Krsna, Arjuna is able to see everything. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna gives His instruction directly to an associate like Arjuna, just so that the people in general may take advantage of this spiritual knowledge
- Krsna had promised that in the Battle of Kuruksetra He would not even touch a weapon to help either side; He would remain neutral. Although Krsna was Arjuna's charioteer, He had promised that He would not help Arjuna by using any weapons
- Krsna has already been accepted by Arjuna as the Supreme. He was accepted in the Tenth Chapter (of BG) as param brahma param dhama. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna Himself did not want to take credit; rather, He wanted Arjuna to take credit. Therefore He asked him to fight and win fame
- Krsna Himself explains the forms of the living entities in the Second Chapter of Bhagavad-gita, where He clearly says to Arjuna that He, Arjuna and all other living entities, who were previously in their original forms, are separate individual identities
- Krsna Himself is guiding him and becoming the chariot driver, and He saw that "Arjuna is declining fight?" He became surprised. So He chastised him, - So this is not for a gentleman, business. You are behaving like non-Aryans
- Krsna Himself is on the battlefield and He is trying to induce Arjuna. Arjuna is declining, and He is inducing, "No, you must fight." Yad yad acarati sresthah (BG 3.21). So we have to follow the footprints of great personalities
- Krsna Himself reveals His infallibility when he says to Arjuna, "When I appear in this world, I do so by My own internal potency" - CC Intro
- Krsna immediately executed this order (of Arjuna to place his chariot between the two armies of soldiers (BG 1.21)), and therefore one may argue that Krsna also is not independent. But this is one's ajnana, ignorance
- Krsna imparted to Marshal Arjuna the vitally important teachings of Bhagavad-gita only when He saw that Arjuna had surrendered to Him without any vanity regarding his own erudition, and without any other reservation
- Krsna induced him (Arjuna) that "You are a ksatriya. It is your duty to fight. Why you are deviating from your duty?"
- Krsna informed that "This heat is due to the Asvatthama's release of brahmastra," and Arjuna was advised, "Counteract it." Now they do not know how to counteract this nuclear weapon. Formerly they knew
- Krsna instructed Arjuna, mam anusmara yudhya ca: (BG 8.7) "Think of Me and fight." We should fight our enemy to the best of our ability, but for victory we must depend on the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Krsna instructed Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna for the benefit of the entire human society. Intelligent men should therefore seriously consider this Krsna consciousness movement and fully utilize the instructions of Bhagavad-gita
- Krsna is accepted in the Bhagavad-gita by the statement of Arjuna: param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan (BG 10.12). Krsna is param pavitra, pure, the purest, apapa-viddha
- Krsna is addressing Arjuna, anarya: "Non-Aryan. You are ksatriya. Your service is now required to fight with persons who have created injustice. So what is this, that you are denying to fight?"
- Krsna is advising Arjuna that either goodness or passion or ignorance, after all, they are activities of this material world. You have to come above, transcend this position of goodness also. So goodness is not qualification for spiritual advancement
- Krsna is advising Arjuna to establish himself in his pure constitutional position as spirit soul, beyond the dualities of material nature
- Krsna is assuring Arjuna that, "What I'm talking to you is not a religious sentiment, but it is jsanam." Jsanam means it is practical knowledge. Jsanam. Jsanam means theoretical knowledge, and vijsanam means practical knowledge
- Krsna is born, He takes part in a battle with Arjuna, He has a father by the name of Vasudeva & a Mother Devaki and a family - what can be considered transcendental? Krsna says, evam yo vetti tattvatah - we must know of His birth and activities in truth
- Krsna is criticizing Arjuna, maha-bahu. Actually he is maha-bahu. Maha-bahu means mighty-armed. One who has got a very strong, mighty arm, he can fight very strongly. Then also, why should you give up your fighting spirit?
- Krsna is described by Arjuna in Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.12) as follows: "You are the Supreme Brahman, the supreme abode and purifier."
- Krsna is encouraging Arjuna to kill Asvatthama on so many grounds. First of all, he has killed the boys who were sleeping at night. And another very important point is that atatayi. Atatayi means the enemy, aggressor
- Krsna is everyone's Lord, yet because He was the transcendental friend of Arjuna, He gladly accepted the role of messenger, exactly like an ordinary friend. That is the beauty of the Lord's behavior with His pure devotees
- Krsna is here (in BG 8.27) advising Arjuna that he should not be disturbed by the different paths the soul can take when leaving the material world. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna is instructing Arjuna in more confidential knowledge of His opulences and His work. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna is instructing Arjuna, and we have to understand how Arjuna has understood Krsna. And if we follow the understanding of Arjuna, then we are following the parampara system, or the disciplic succession
- Krsna is so kind and merciful that in spite of such opulence He played with Arjuna as a friend. Such is the transcendental loving reciprocation between the devotee and the Lord. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna is so merciful that simply by aiming His instructions at Arjuna, He has given protection to the whole world
- Krsna is speaking as the spiritual master of Arjuna, and Arjuna says, "Whatever You are saying I accept." Read it like that - not: "I like this, so I accept it; this I don't like, and so I reject it." Such reading is useless nonsense
- Krsna is the fountainhead of the Supersoul also, as it will be disclosed in the following chapters, & Arjuna is the atomic soul, forgetful of his real nature; therefore he requires to be enlightened by Krsna, or by His bona fide representative. BG 1972 p
- Krsna is the master of all mysticism. It is to be understood, however, that as Arjuna was fortunate enough to understand Krsna directly, similarly, by the grace of Vyasa, Sanjaya was also able to hear Krsna directly. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna is the original cause of everything. Arjuna recognized Lord Sri Krsna as the original person, and the Brahma-samhita describes Him as the original person. He is the cause of all causes, whether at the beginning, at the end or in the middle
- Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and Arjuna knows that, "I am not controller; I am controlled." He is devotee, he knows his position. Therefore he is now trying to control Krsna. He is ordering Krsna
- Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as admitted by Arjuna in Bhagavad-gita; therefore wherever the word brahma is used, it must refer to Krsna, not to the impersonal Brahman effulgence. Brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate
- Krsna knew that Arjuna was not interested in seeing a four-handed form of Krsna, but since he asked to see this four-handed form, He also showed him this form again and then showed Himself in His two-handed form. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna knows everything, Arjuna is putting this question to Him about the fate of the unsuccessful yogi
- Krsna made Arjuna His representative because Arjuna was His devotee: bhakto 'si me sakha ceti
- Krsna manifested some of His universal forms (to Duryodhana). But those forms are different from this one shown to Arjuna. It is clearly said that no one has ever seen this form before. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna married 16,000 wives, Arjuna married 3 or 4 wives, Krsna's father Vasudeva, married 16 or 18 wives, like that. So according to the Vedic system polygamy is not prohibited. But it is not a farce also. Every wife must be provided for sufficiently
- Krsna never advised Arjuna that "You are My friend. You are My devotee, completely dependent upon Me. So you can sit down." Never said like that. Similarly, we should remain always completely dependent upon God
- Krsna never said that "My dear Arjuna, you are My first-class devotee. Now you sit down and I'll do everything for you." No. Krsna never said. Rather, Arjuna was not willing to fight, and Krsna was inducing him - You must fight
- Krsna never says that He, Arjuna, and all the soldiers shall eventually become one. Rather, He says that everyone will retain his own individuality
- Krsna not only theoretically or philosophically presented Himself as the Supreme but actually presented Himself as such to Arjuna. Arjuna must confirm this because Arjuna is the beginning of the parampara system. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna once had to carry out an order of Yudhisthira’s by carrying a letter Yudhisthira had written to Duryodhana regarding peace negotiations. Similarly, He also became the chariot driver of Arjuna
- Krsna promised not to fight in the Battle of Kuruksetra, but Bhisma, in order to break Krsna’s promise, attacked Arjuna in such a vigorous way that Krsna was obliged to take up a chariot wheel and attack Bhisma
- Krsna promises, "My dear Arjuna, My pure devotee is never lost to Me." So don't be lost to Krsna. That is perfection of life
- Krsna remembered acts which were performed by Him millions of years before, but Arjuna could not, despite the fact that both Krsna and Arjuna are eternal in nature. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna replied, "It is said that Bhima was born of the demigod Vayu and that Arjuna was born of the demigod Indra, whereas King Yudhisthira himself was born of the demigod Yamaraja"
- Krsna replied, - My dear Arjuna, you were also present then, but you have forgotten, whereas I have not. That is the difference
- Krsna said (to Arjuna) that "You are a ksatriya. You are king. It is your duty to fight"
- Krsna said - My dear Arjuna, how have these impurities come upon you? They are not at all befitting a man who knows the value of life. They lead not to higher planets but to infamy
- Krsna said to Arjuna - Give up this cowardice habit. You get up and prepare for your fight. This is ksatriya's business. You should not go behind
- Krsna said to Arjuna, "My dear Pandava, Arjuna, don't be afraid"
- Krsna said to Arjuna, "You are fighting for Me; therefore you are not asura." Those who are fighting for their sense gratification, they're asuras, but if need be fighting for, for cause, right cause...
- Krsna said to Arjuna: "This is not for the Aryan. You are ksatriya, you are meant for fighting for justice, and you are denying to fight? Oh, this is not good. This kind of proposal, cowardice, can be proposed by the anarya
- Krsna said, "It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father" - CC Intro

- Krsna said, you (Arjuna) are talking like a learned man, but you do not know that one who is learned - one who knows what is body and what is soul - does not lament for any stage of the body, neither in the living nor in the dead condition. BG 1972 pur
- Krsna said: "O Arjuna, there are no greater receptacles of deep love for Me than the gopis, who cleanse and decorate their bodies because they consider them Mine"
- Krsna said: "O Partha, in all the three planetary systems, this earth is especially fortunate, for on earth is the town of Vrndavana. And there the gopis are especially glorious because among them is My Srimati Radharani"
- Krsna sarcastically addressed Arjuna as maha-bahu, mighty-armed, because He, at least, did not accept the theory of the Vaibhasikas, which leaves aside the Vedic wisdom. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna says (to Arjuna) that - Don't try to imitate the business of a sannyasi or a Brahmin. You are ksatriya. You . . . your duty is to fight, so you should follow your own prescribed duty. Don't try to imitate others
- Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.61): The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy
- Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita, - My dear Arjuna, you should know that you, I, and all the persons assembled on this battlefield were individuals in the past, we are individuals at present, and in the future we shall continue to remain individuals
- Krsna says that "Arjuna, you see that still, I have engaged Myself in the worldly duties." Why? Just to become the ideal man. Although He was not man, He was God
- Krsna says that "I shall explain to you jnanam, theoretical knowledge, with practical experiment." Not that you have to accept this knowledge blindly. Practical experiment
- Krsna says to Arjuna "You are My very dear friend, you are My devotee. Therefore I'll reveal unto you. Not to others." This is the qualification of understanding God, to become devotee
- Krsna says to Arjuna, "Because you are My very dear friend, I am explaining to you the most confidential religion." Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja: (BG 18.66) Give up all other duties and surrender unto Me
- Krsna says to Arjuna, "This science of God, Bhagavad-gita, krsna-tattva..." Caitanya Mahaprabhu said: yei krsna-tattva vetta sei guru hay. Guru does not become. Guru is not so cheap thing. One must know what is krsna-tattva
- Krsna says, "It is (varnasrama) introduced by Me for very good management of the social order." Brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra. So Arjuna belonged to the ksatriya family. Therefore his hesitation to fight in the battlefield is not befitting the Aryans
- Krsna says, - No. You must be dutiful. Never mind who is that, your grandfather or your teacher. You are a ksatriya. A ksatriya has no other consideration in the fight. He must fight

- Krsna says: "Even in future also, we shall continue to exist like this. You are individual. You are Arjuna. I am Krsna. And all other living entities" That is real understanding
- Krsna says: "My dear Arjuna, you are My friend, personal friend, and you are proposing this, which is befitting to the anarya"

- Krsna showed how He fulfills His promise by delivering the parijata flower to Satyabhama, by saving Draupadi from being insulted and by freeing Arjuna from the attacks of all enemies
- Krsna similarly chastised Arjuna (as Jada Bharata chastises King Rahugana). Asocyan anvasocas tvam prajna-vadams ca bhasase: "While speaking learned words, you are lamenting for what is not worthy of grief" - BG 2.11
- Krsna spoke Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna not for Arjuna. He came for everyone, because He loves everyone. Everyone is son
- Krsna started this movement five thousand years ago and taught this subject matter to Arjuna in the Battlefield of Kuruksetra. But unfortunate as we are, we could not take up the mission of Krsna
- Krsna taught Arjuna in the Bhagavad-gita, and Arjuna also accepted Him as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but for our understanding Arjuna requested the Lord to manifest His universal form, thus testing whether He was actually the Supreme Lord
- Krsna taught to the whole world that Arjuna was a soldier, he was a fighter, and in his fighting also he can be Krsna conscious. It is not that he has to cease from fighting and then become Krsna conscious. No
- Krsna teaches in Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.27): O son of Kunti, all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me
- Krsna tells Arjuna at the beginning of the Fourth Chapter: I (Krsna) instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun-god, Vivasvan, and Vivasvan instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Iksvaku - BG 4.1
- Krsna tells Arjuna in Bhagavad-gita (2.14): O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons
- Krsna tells Arjuna of the knowledge of yoga whereby one can work without fruitive results. "O son of Prtha, when you act by such intelligence, you can free yourself from the bondage of works"
- Krsna tells Arjuna of the knowledge of yoga whereby one can work without fruitive results: "O son of Prtha, when you act in such knowledge you can free yourself from the bondage of works" - CC Preface
- Krsna tells Arjuna that although they both took birth many, many times before, Krsna remembers everything about His previous appearances but Arjuna does not remember
- Krsna tells Arjuna that he should act in yoga. And what is that yoga? Yoga means to concentrate the mind upon the Supreme by controlling the ever-disturbing senses. And who is the Supreme? The Supreme is the Lord
- Krsna tells Arjuna that the battle had already been decided by the Supreme, that the people who were assembled on the battlefield were predestined never to return
- Krsna tells Arjuna, "Because you are My friend, I am revealing to you the most confidential dharma." What is that? "Simply surrender unto Me." This is the dharma taught by the SPG, and Krsna's incarnation and His devotee will teach the same dharma
- Krsna tells Arjuna, one enters into the supreme abode. "By meditating in this manner, always controlling the body, mind and activities, the mystic transcendentalist attains to peace, the supreme nirvana which abides in Me." - Bg. 6.15
- Krsna told Arjuna: Be free from all dualities and from all anxieties for gain and safety, and be established in the Self
- Krsna told Arjuna: The Vedas mainly deal with the subject of the three modes of material nature. Rise above these modes, O Arjuna. Be transcendental to all of them
- Krsna tried to make Arjuna understand that he was not his body. This instruction was not for Arjuna exclusively, but for everyone
- Krsna understands that Arjuna wants to see the universal form to set a criterion, for in the future there would be so many imposters who would pose themselves as incarnations of God. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna wanted Arjuna to fight, and although Arjuna did not want to fight, he fought because Krsna desired it. We have to learn to follow this example
- Krsna wanted to establish Arjuna and the five Pandavas, who were the most pious ksatriyas and devotees, as rulers of the world, and He also wanted to vanquish the atheistic party of Duryodhana
- Krsna wanted to explain to Arjuna that by killing the body of his grandfather (Bhismadeva) he would not be killing the soul proper. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna was doing everything; still he was to fight. He was inducing, "You must fight." Neither Arjuna said, "Krsna, You are so, my friend. Better You do it. I sit down. Let me smoke ganja." No. Arjuna also did not say. This is not Krsna consciousness
- Krsna was inducing him (Arjuna): Never mind. According to ksatriya rules and regulation, even the opposite party is your own son, you should not hesitate to kill him. This is ksatriya's business
- Krsna was never ungrateful to the gopis, for as He declares to Arjuna in this verse from the Bhagavad-gita (4.11), He reciprocates with His devotees in proportion to the transcendental loving service they render unto Him
- Krsna was sent by Arjuna into the assembly as the spiritual master of the whole world, & although His words were heard by some (like Bhisma) as pure nectar, it was not so for the others, who were completely bereft of the last farthing of past pious works
- Krsna was similarly present before Arjuna, and even though He could have given him all facilities for victory over the opposing party without a fight, He did not do so
- Krsna was taking part in the Battlefield of Kuruksetra and inducing Arjuna that, "You fight." Arjuna was not willing to fight, but He was inducing to fight
- Krsna was teaching Bhagavad-gita, and Arjuna was seeing Him face to face, but seeing Krsna and reading Bhagavad-gita are the same
- Krsna will now (in BG 2.39) tell him (Arjuna) about the working process in buddhi-yoga, or karma-yoga, or in other words, the practice of devotional service only for the sense gratification of the Lord. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna's acceptance of the post of charioteer for Arjuna was an exhibition of another opulence. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna's knowledge is so perfect that He remembers all the incidents of His appearances some millions and billions of years in the past, but Arjuna's memory and knowledge are limited by time and space, for he is an ordinary human being
- Krsna, Bhima & Arjuna together went to Jarasandha in the dress of poor brahmanas & begged charity from King Jarasandha. Jarasandha never refused charity to any brahmana, & he performed many sacrifices also, yet he was not on a par with devotional service
- Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the ideal spiritual master, spoke the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita to Marshal Arjuna, His disciple. Here is a perfect example of the relationship between the spiritual master and the disciple
- Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He played just like an ordinary human being as friend of Arjuna
- Kunti addresses Lord Krsna as krsna-sakha because she knows that although Arjuna, who is also known as Krsna, is her son and therefore subordinate to her, Lord Krsna is more intimately related with Arjuna than with her
- Kunti remembers all the dangers through which she passed before the Pandavas regained their kingdom. In BG Lord Krsna says, kaunteya pratijanihi na me bhaktah pranasyati - My dear Arjuna, you may declare to the world that My devotee is never vanquished
- Kunti, after overhearing Arjuna's telling of the end of the Yadu dynasty & disappearance of Lord Krsna, engaged in the devotional service of the transcendental P of G with full attention & thus gained release from the course of material existence
- Kuntidevi also addresses Krsna as visva-murti, the personality of the form of the universe. When Arjuna wanted to see Krsna's universal form, Krsna immediately manifested it. This is another of Krsna's opulences - vibhuti
- Kuntidevi did not say that, "You are my nephew." No. That is not spiritual relationship. But Krsna-sakha, Arjuna, is related with Krsna eternally. Eternally as friend
L
- Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much for your coming here and participate in this great movement. So this evening I shall present before you topics between Krsna and Arjuna. I think most of you know the Bhagavad-gita
- Later it was proved that Arjuna's taking shelter of Lord Siva instead of Krsna was not at all successful. Arjuna, however, did his best by chanting different mantras, and he shot arrows up and down to guard the maternity home from all directions
- Later on the teaching of the Bhagavad-gita came down by disciplic succession from Maharaja Iksvaku, but in course of time the chain was broken by unscrupulous persons, and therefore it again had to be taught to Arjuna on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra
- Let my ultimate attraction be to Sri Krsna, the P of G. I concentrate my mind upon the chariot driver of Arjuna who stood with a whip in His right hand and a bridle rope in His left, who was very careful to give protection to Arjuna's chariot by all means
- Liberation is open for everyone (samam carantam (SB 1.8.28)). In Bhagavad-gita Krsna does not say to Arjuna, "Only you may come to Me and become liberated." No, the Lord is available for everyone
- Like Arjuna - in the beginning, he was declining to fight, on account of his individuality. But when he accepted Krsna as his spiritual master, he became sisya (a disciple). Whatever Krsna ordered, he said yes. That doesn't mean he lost his individuality
- Like Arjuna, we should also accept Krsna as the guru who can instruct us in how to get relief from our perplexed position. So Krsna is the guru not only for Arjuna, but for everyone
- Lord (Krsna) pointed out all the important men on the opposite side, saying, "Here is Bhisma, here is Drona," and so on
- Lord Caitanya quotes a verse from Bhagavad-gita in which Krsna, telling Arjuna of His different opulences, points out that He Himself enters into each universe as the Ksirodakasayi Visnu, and then expands Himself as the Supersoul in everyone's heart
- Lord Caitanya quotes a verse from Bhagavad-gita in which Krsna, telling Arjuna of His different opulences, points out that He Himself enters this universe by one of His plenary portions, Garbhodakasayi Visnu
- Lord Krsna advised Arjuna : "If you want to be perfect, just always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your obeisances to Me. In this way you will understand Me, the PG, & ultimately you will come back to Me, back to Godhead, back home
- Lord Krsna advised Arjuna: O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons
- Lord Krsna advised Arjuna: They (happiness and distress) arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed - BG 2.14
- Lord Krsna and Arjuna then offered their obeisances to Lord Maha-Visnu, and, taking back the brahmana's children, they returned to Dvaraka via the same route by which they had entered the spiritual world
- Lord Krsna continued to give His verdict to Arjuna: Do not think that the great generals like Duryodhana, Karna, and other contemporaries will think that you have left the battlefield out of compassion for your brothers and grandfather. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna continued to give His verdict to Arjuna: They (Duryodhana, Karna, and other contemporaries) will think that you have left out of fear for your life. And thus their high estimation of your personality will go to hell. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna did not want Arjuna to become a pretender, but that he perform his prescribed duties as set forth for ksatriyas. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna directly instructed Arjuna. Arjuna is therefore tattva-darsi or guru. Arjuna accepted the Supreme Personality of Godhead (param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan) - BG 10.12
- Lord Krsna encouraged Arjuna by telling him that he was not born with demoniac qualities. His involvement in the fight was not demoniac because he was considering the pro's and con's. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna in His Narayana feature is always four handed. On the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, when Arjuna wanted to see His universal form, He showed this feature of four-handed Narayana
- Lord Krsna in His personal form is here (BG 7.24) speaking before Arjuna, and still, due to ignorance, impersonalists argue that the Supreme Lord ultimately has no form. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna informs Arjuna that He is disclosing the secrets of the Bhagavad-gita to him because he is His devotee. Arjuna was not a sannyasi, nor was he a Vedantist or brahmana. He was, however, a devotee of Krsna
- Lord Krsna instructed Arjuna in the Bhagavad-gita because He found Arjuna to be a devotee and friend. Without such qualifications, one cannot enter into the mystery of the Bhagavad-gita
- Lord Krsna instructs Arjuna that one who renders loving devotional service to Him, the Supreme Lord, is the highest among all yogis, and that Arjuna should thus strive to become such a bhakti-yogi
- Lord Krsna is Rama Himself, and wherever Lord Rama is, His eternal servitor Hanuman and His eternal consort Sita, the goddess of fortune, are present. Therefore, Arjuna had no cause to fear any enemies whatsoever. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna killed the demon Madhu, and now Arjuna wanted Krsna to kill the demon of misunderstanding that had overtaken him in the discharge of his duty. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna made an analytical description of the soul just to bring Arjuna to the point of buddhi-yoga, or bhakti-yoga. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna now (in BG 2.38) directly says that Arjuna should fight for the sake of fighting because He desires the battle. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna persuaded Arjuna not to enter the fire in disgrace. Krsna indicated that since Arjuna was His friend, if he were to enter the fire in hopelessness, indirectly it would be a blemish on Him
- Lord Krsna said - Arjuna, I see that you are talking like a learned man, but you may know that you have very little knowledge - because I see that you are lamenting over something for which no one would lament if he were truly learned
- Lord Krsna says to Arjuna: For a respectable man like you, ill fame is worse than death. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna says to Arjuna: if you think that people may call you bad names but that you will save your life by fleeing the battlefield, then My advice is that you'd do better to die in the battle. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna says to Arjuna: you should not flee for fear of your life; better to die in the battle. That will save you from the ill fame of misusing My friendship and from losing your prestige in society. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna therefore checked Arjuna, assuring him that He would find the baby. He told Arjuna, "Do not foolishly commit suicide"
- Lord Krsna thought: "In whatever way My devotees surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Prtha"
- Lord Krsna thus informed Arjuna: "They (happiness and distress) arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed." All the distresses brought about by the body come and go
- Lord Krsna took Arjuna through this place (the destination of those who aspire for liberation from the material world, beyond Aloka-varsa) to bring back the sons of the brahmana
- Lord Krsna was astonished in the beginning at Arjuna's uncalled-for plea for compassion, and He described his compassion as befitting the non-Aryans. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna was in favor of Arjuna; therefore, along with other members of the family, He tried to pacify Balarama by falling at His feet and begging Him to pardon Arjuna
- Lord Krsna, Arjuna and Bhimasena were actually ksatriyas, but they dressed themselves as brahmanas, and at the time when King Jarasandha was to give charity to the brahmanas and receive them as guests, they approached him
- Lord Krsna, Bhima and Arjuna asked Jarasandha for the facility of fighting him, and it was settled that Jarasandha would fight with Bhima only
- Lord Krsna, having assured Arjuna that he was born with the divine qualities, is now (in BG 16.6) describing the demoniac way. The conditioned living entities are divided into two classes in this world. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna, He is teaching Arjuna directly the perfect form of yoga. If you actually want to perform the yoga system, then here is authoritative statement by the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Lord Krsna, however, was very kind toward Arjuna because Arjuna was the most intimate friend of the Lord
- Lord Krsna, in order to encourage Arjuna to higher and higher elevation in His potent service, describes in this Ninth Chapter (of BG) matters more confidential than any He has already disclosed. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Krsna, in the dress of a brahmana, said to the King, "We wish all glories to Your Majesty"
- Lord Krsna, who is the spiritual master of the entire universe, accepted the duty of a messenger, and, deputed by Arjuna, went to the assembly of King Dhrtarastra on a peace mission
- Lord Sri Krsna appeared again and taught Arjuna the truths of the Bhagavad-gita. At that time the Lord spoke this verse (BG 4.11) to His friend Arjuna
- Lord Sri Krsna encouraged Arjuna outwardly just to test Arjuna's sense of duty. It is not that Arjuna was incomplete in the sense of his duty, nor was Lord Sri Krsna unaware of Arjuna's sense of duty
- Lord Sri Krsna has recommended to Arjuna the practice of sat-cakra-yoga, in which one places the air of life between the eyebrows
- Lord Sri Krsna has repeatedly instructed Arjuna, or for that matter everyone concerned with becoming His unalloyed devotee. In the last phase of His instruction in the Bhagavad-gita (18.64-66) He instructed most confidentially
- Lord Sri Krsna Himself embraced the other three Pandavas, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva. The eyes of all three brothers were inundated with tears, and Arjuna embraced Krsna again and again because they were intimate friends
- Lord Sri Krsna made a plan to help Arjuna to kidnap Subhadra, sister of Sri Krsna, because Baladeva was inclined to hand her over to Duryodhana. Yudhisthira also agreed with Sri Krsna, and thus Subhadra was taken by force by Arjuna
- Lord Sri Krsna said: O Arjuna, you should not show mercy by releasing this relative of a brahmana (brahma-bandhu), for he has killed innocent boys in their sleep
- Lord Visnu said, "You are both complete in yourselves, to protect the devotees and to annihilate the demons, and especially to establish religious principles in the world so that peace and tranquillity may continue"
- Lord Visnu said, "You are teaching the basic principles of factual religion so that the people of the world may follow you and thereby be peaceful and prosperous"
M
- Magnanimity or so-called nonviolence should be given up by persons like Arjuna under the direct guidance of Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- Maha-Visnu had actually stolen the sons of the brahmana in Dvaraka so that Krsna and Arjuna would come visit Him. This verse (CC Madhya 8.146) is quoted to show that Krsna is so attractive that He attracts Maha-Visnu
- Maha-Visnu said, "My dear Krsna and Arjuna, I was very eager to see you both, and therefore I arranged to take away the babies of the brahmana and keep them here"
- Maharaja Pariksit was to become the medium for the revelation of Srimad-Bhagavatam by Lord Sri Krsna, as his grandfather Arjuna was the medium for the Bhagavad-gita
- Maharaja Yudhisthira said to his younger brother Bhimasena, I sent Arjuna to Dvaraka to meet his friends and to learn from the Personality of Godhead Krsna of His program of work
- Maharaja Yudhisthira said: Is it that you are feeling empty for all time because you might have lost your most intimate friend, Lord Krsna? O my brother Arjuna, I can think of no other reason for your becoming so dejected
- Manu: The Manu mentioned in this verse as the father of Iksvaku is the seventh Manu, of the name Vaivasvata Manu, the son of sun-god Vivasvan, to whom Lord Krsna instructed the teachings of Bhagavad-gita prior to His teaching them to Arjuna
- Marshal Arjuna is the eternal, confidential servant of the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna, and thus the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita was taught to him directly for the benefit of the people in general
- Marshal Arjuna surrendered himself as the disciple of Sri Krsna, for a disciple cannot disobey the orders of his spiritual master. That is the relationship between a disciple and his master
- Materially it may seem very pious that he (Arjuna) is giving up his claim for a kingdom and refusing to kill his relatives, but Krsna did not approve of this because the principle for Arjuna's decision was to satisfy his own senses
- Materially, it appears very nice that Arjuna is giving up his claim of kingdom for satisfying his relatives. Oh, he's very good man. But Krsna did not approve it. Why? Because the basic principle was Arjuna decided to satisfy his own senses
- Mathura and Hastinapura, the capital of the Kurus, are both puras. Personalities like Arjuna, Bhima, Draupadi and Sridama Brahmana are counted amongst Krsna's fraternal devotees in the puras
- Mayy asakta-manah pariah, yogam yunjan mad-asrayah, asamsayam samagram mamma, yatha jnasyasi tac chrnu. "My dear Partha, Arjuna, in order to know Me, God, asamsayam, without any doubt, and samagram," means in completeness
- Millions of universes emanate from the breathing of the Maha-Visnu. In the Tenth Chapter of Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.42), Krsna gives Arjuna some indication of His infinite glory, and He concludes His descriptions with the following statement
- Mother Yasoda is His lover as a parent; Sudama is His lover as a friend; Arjuna also as a friend - there are millions and billions of different kinds of direct devotees of Krsna
- My dear Arjuna, a man who does not follow this prescribed Vedic system of sacrifice certainly leads a life of sin, for a person delighting only in the senses lives in vain. BG 3.16 - 1972
- My dear Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me (Krsna), I shall impart to you this most confidential knowledge and realization, knowing which you shall be relieved of the miseries of material existence
- My dear Arjuna, one cannot perform mystic yoga if he eats more than necessary or needlessly fasts, sleeps and dreams too much or does not sleep enough
- My dear Arjuna, the reason, the mission, for which I appear is now explained, that I come here to establish the real constitutional position of the living entities. That is My mission
- My intelligence is bewildered by Your equivocal instructions. Therefore, please tell me decisively what is most beneficial for me. BG 3.2 - 1972
N
- Nakula and Sahadeva (the younger brothers of the King) and also Satyaki, Arjuna, the Personality of Godhead Lord Sri Krsna, son of Devaki, and the ladies and others all unanimously agreed with the King
- Narada Muni said, "All these activities performed by Your (Krsnas) Grace will be sung by great poets throughout the world. And at the Battle of Kuruksetra You will take part as the chariot driver of Your friend Arjuna"
- Narada Muni wanted to impress upon people in general that Krsna is fully independent. His activities, such as His appearance in the family of Yadu or His friendship with Arjuna, do not necessarily oblige Him to act to enjoy their results
- Negation is no life. Positive life is life. "Don't do this," is no life. "Do this," this is life. The whole Bhagavad-gita is "do." "Do fight for Me." There is nothing "don't." Arjuna wanted, "Don't induce me." And Krsna did not like that
- Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be. BG 2.12 - 1972
- Nihsreyasa means the ultimate benefit. Krsna also says the same thing, that param guhyatamam: I have instructed you so many things, but because you are My dear friend, I am just disclosing to you (Arjuna) the most confidential thing
- No more friendly talking because Arjuna has accepted Krsna as the teacher. So He's the teacher. It is the duty of the teacher to punish or to chastise the disciple when he is wrongly going on
- No, the printing of the Gitar Gan cover this fashion is not at all approved by me. You have done most nonsensically. Why change the cover? When people look to see the Bhagavad-gita they expect to see Krishna and Arjuna, not the picture of Krishna with cow
- Not being a cheater, being very frank and open, Arjuna tells Krsna that the system of yoga which He has described is not possible for him to execute
- Not finding any combatant, he (Banasura) struck his powerful arms against the mountains, breaking them to pieces. In contrast to this, Arjuna also possessed extraordinary powers for fighting, but he utilized them only for Krsna
- Now (here in BG 18.66), in summarizing BG, the Lord says that Arjuna should give up all the processes that have been explained to him; he should simply surrender to Krsna. That surrender will save him from all kinds of sinful reactions. BG 1972 purports
- Now (in BG 18.78) it is concluded that wherever there is Krsna and Arjuna, there is victory. BG 1972 purports
- Now (in BG 2.36) in so many words, He (Krsna) has proved His statements against Arjuna's so-called compassion. BG 1972 purports
- Now hear, O son of Prtha (Arjuna), how by practicing yoga in full consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in full, free from doubt. BG 7.1 - 1972
- Now I (Arjuna) am attracted to those instructions imparted to me by the Personality of Godhead (Govinda) because they are impregnated with instructions for relieving the burning heart in all circumstances of time and space
- Now I am confused about my duty and have lost all composure because of weakness. In this condition I am asking You to tell me clearly what is best for me. Now I am Your disciple, and a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct me. BG 2.7 - 1972
O
- O Arjuna, as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I know everything that has happened in the past, all that is happening in the present, and all things that are yet to come. I also know all living entities; but Me no one knows. BG 7.26 - 1972
- O Arjuna, best of the Bharatas, in the very beginning curb this great symbol of sin (lust) by regulating the senses, and slay this destroyer of knowledge and self-realization. BG 3.41 - 1972
- O Arjuna, I control heat, the rain and the drought. I am immortality, and I am also death personified. Both being and nonbeing are in Me. BG 9.19 - 1972
- O Arjuna, I give heat, and I withhold and send forth the rain. I am immortality, and I am also death personified. Both spirit and matter are in Me
- O Arjuna, learn from Me of the five factors which bring about the accomplishment of all action. These are declared in sankhya philosophy to be the place of action, the performer, the senses, the endeavor, and ultimately the Supersoul. BG 18.13-14 - 1972
- O Arjuna, surrendering all your works unto Me, with mind intent on Me, and without desire for gain and free from egoism and lethargy, fight. BG 3.30 - 1972
- O Arjuna, you should know this as My inconceivable opulence. This is the meaning propagated by Lord Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita
- O best among men (Arjuna), the person who is not disturbed by happiness and distress and is steady in both is certainly eligible for liberation. BG 2.15 - 1972
- O best among the Bharatas (Arjuna), four kinds of pious men render devotional service unto Me - the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute
- O best among the Bharatas (Arjuna), four kinds of pious men render devotional service unto Me - the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute. BG 7.16 - 1972
- O best of the Bharatas, hear from Me now about renunciation. O tiger among men, there are three kinds of renunciation declared in the scriptures. BG 18.4 - 1972
- O conquerer of wealth (Arjuna), there is no Truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread. BG 7.7 - 1972
- O descendant of Bharata, at that time Krsna, smiling, in the midst of both the armies, spoke the following words to the grief-stricken Arjuna. BG 2.10 - 1972
- O descendant of Bharata, he who dwells in the body is eternal and can never be slain. Therefore you need not grieve for any creature. BG 2.30 - 1972
- O Dhananjaya, all this work cannot bind Me. I am ever detached from all these material activities, seated as though neutral. BG 9.9 - 1972
- O Dhananjaya, rid yourself of all fruitive activities by devotional service, and surrender fully to that consciousness. Those who want to enjoy the fruits of their work are misers. BG 2.49 - 1972
- O Emperor, now I (Arjuna) am separated from my friend and dearmost well-wisher, the Supreme Personality of Godhead (Krsna), and therefore my heart appears to be void of everything
- O how wonderful is the influence of inevitable time. It is irreversible - otherwise, how can there be reverses in the presence of the great bowman Arjuna with his mighty weapon Gandiva; and above all, the Lord, the direct well-wisher of the Pandavas?
- O Janardana, although these men, their hearts overtaken by greed, see no fault in killing one's family or quarreling with friends, why should we (Arjuna and Krsna), who can see the crime in destroying a family, engage in these acts of sin?
- O King! His (Krsna's) jokings and frank talks were pleasing and beautifully decorated with smiles. His addresses unto me as "O son of Prtha, O friend, O son of the Kuru dynasty," and all such heartiness are now remembered by me, and thus I am overwhelmed
- O King, as I repeatedly recall this wondrous and holy dialogue between Krsna and Arjuna, I take pleasure, being thrilled at every moment. BG 18.76 - 1972
- O Krsna, I (Arjuna) totally accept as truth all that You have told me. Neither the demigods nor the demons, O Lord, can understand Your personality - BG 10.14
- O Krsna, I totally accept as truth all that You have told me. Neither the gods nor demons, O Lord, know Thy personality. BG 10.14 - 1972
- O Krsna, maintainer of the people, I have heard by disciplic succession that those who destroy family traditions dwell always in hell. BG 1.43 - 1972
- O Krsna, O friend of Arjuna, O chief amongst the descendants of Vrsni, You are the destroyer of those political parties which are disturbing elements on this earth. Your prowess never deteriorates
- O Lord of lords (Krsna), O refuge of the worlds, please be gracious to me (Arjuna). I cannot keep my balance seeing thus Your blazing deathlike faces and awful teeth. In all directions I am bewildered
- O Lord of lords (Krsna), so fierce of form, please tell me (Arjuna) who You are. I offer my obeisances unto You; please be gracious to me. You are the primal Lord. I want to know about You, for I do not know what Your mission is
- O Lord of the universe, O universal form, I (Arjuna) see in Your body many, many arms, bellies, mouths and eyes, expanded everywhere, without limit. I see in You no end, no middle and no beginning
- O mighty-armed Krsna, - Arjuna continues, "does not such a man, being deviated from the path of Transcendence, perish like a riven cloud, with no position in any sphere?" When a cloud is torn apart by the wind, it does not mend back together again
- O mighty-armed one (Krsna), all the planets with their demigods are disturbed at seeing Your great form, with its many faces, eyes, arms, thighs, legs, and bellies and Your many terrible teeth; and as they are disturbed, so am I (Arjuna)
- O Partha, how can a person who knows that the soul is indestructible, unborn, eternal and immutable, kill anyone or cause anyone to kill? BG 2.21 - 1972
- O sage amongst the brahmanas, Lord Sri Krsna, the Personality of Godhead, also followed, seated on a chariot with Arjuna. Thus King Yudhisthira appeared very aristocratic, like Kuvera surrounded by his companions (the Guhyakas)
- O Saunaka, thereafter the Lord (Krsna), having bade farewell to King Yudhisthira, Draupadi and other relatives, started for the city of Dvaraka, accompanied by Arjuna and other members of the Yadu dynasty
- O scion of Bharata (Arjuna), O conquerer of the foe, all living entities are born into delusion, overcome by the dualities of desire and hate. BG 7.27 - 1972
- O scion of Bharata, you should understand that I am also the knower in all bodies, and to understand this body and its owner is called knowledge. That is My opinion. BG 13.3 - 1972
- O sinless one, the mode of goodness, being purer than the others, is illuminating, and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode develop knowledge, but they become conditioned by the concept of happiness. BG 14.6 - 1972
- O son of Bharata, as the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the living entity, one within the body, illuminate the entire body by consciousness. BG 13.34 - 1972
- O son of Kunti (Arjuna), I am the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable om in the Vedic mantras; I am the sound in ether and ability in man. BG 7.8 - 1972
- O son of Kunti, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes. O son of Prtha, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth-women, vaisyas (merchants) as well as sudras (workers) - can attain the supreme destination
- O son of Kunti, learn from Me in brief how one can attain to the supreme perfectional stage, Brahman, by acting in the way which I shall now summarize. BG 18.50 - 1972
- O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. BG 2.14 - 1972
- O son of Kuru, when there is an increase in the mode of ignorance madness, illusion, inertia and darkness are manifested. BG 14.13 - 1972
- O son of Prtha, do not yield to this degrading impotence. It does not become you. Give up such petty weakness of heart and arise, O chastiser of the enemy. BG 2.3 - 1972
- O son of Prtha, in this world there are two kinds of created beings. One is called the divine and the other demonic. I have already explained to you at length the divine qualities. Now hear from Me of the demoniac. BG 16.6 - 1972
- O son of Prtha, when you act by such intelligence (one works without fruitive result), you can free yourself from the bondage of works. BG 2.39 - 1972
- O winner of wealth, please listen as I tell you in detail of the three kinds of understanding and determination according to the three modes of nature. BG 18.29 - 1972
- Of all creations I am (Krsna) the beginning and the end and also the middle, O Arjuna. Of all sciences I am the spiritual science of the self, and among logicians I am the conclusive truth
- Of all people, why did Sri Krsna select Arjuna as a recipient of this knowledge? Arjuna was not a great scholar at all, nor was he a yogi, meditator or a holy man. He was a warrior about to engage in battle
- Of course Krsna was present to tell Arjuna what his work was, but what about us? Sri Krsna was personally directing Arjuna to act in such and such a way
- Of course, Arjuna knew everything, but for our education he said to Krsna, - Krsna, we are contemporaries, and since we were born at practically the same time, how can I believe that You spoke this philosophy so long ago to the sun-god
- Of course, Arjuna was not an ordinary living entity, but because of his friendly dealings with Krsna he thought that Krsna was unable to give protection to the brahmana and that he would do better to remember Lord Siva
- Of course, everyone thinks right cause; therefore it should be confirmed. Just like Arjuna. Arjuna fought when he understood that "This fighting is right cause, it is sanctioned by Krsna." Then it is right cause
- Of course, it has become a fashion to accept a guru in this way, but this will not help anyone. As soon as Krsna became Arjuna's guru, Krsna immediately chastised him
- Of these two birds - although they are the same in quality - one is captivated by the fruits of the material tree, while the other is simply witnessing the activities of His friend. Krsna is the witnessing bird, and Arjuna is the eating bird. BG 1972 pur
- On the battlefield (where Sri Krsna attended Arjuna out of friendship), the flowing hair of Lord Krsna turned ashen due to the dust raised by the hoofs of the horses. And because of His labor, beads of sweat wetted His face
- On the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, Arjuna said to Krsna, - Whatever You are saying is all right. I am not this body. I am a soul, and this is also true of everyone else. So when the body is annihilated, the soul will continue to exist
- On the battlefield of Kuruksetra, Arjuna was very much afraid of being entangled in his activities by engaging in warfare. Krsna therefore assured him that if he fought for His sake there would be no possibility of entanglement
- On the other side, both Lord Krsna and Arjuna, stationed on a great chariot drawn by white horses, sounded their transcendental conchshells. BG 1.14 - 1972
- Once the divine vision is revealed, the relationship between Krsna and Arjuna changes immediately. BG 1972 purports
- One can become a dhira only by submissively hearing from a bona fide spiritual master. Arjuna, for example, became a dhira by submissively hearing from Lord Krsna, the Personality of Godhead Himself
- One cannot know the Supreme Lord unless one is graced by the Lord Himself. Lord Krsna exhibited this specific mercy towards Arjuna and Uddhava while He was in the material world
- One day Bhisma, in order to nullify Krsna's promise, exhibited his fighting spirit so magnificently against Arjuna that Krsna was obliged to get down from His chariot
- One day, while Krsna was staying with the Pandavas, He and Arjuna prepared themselves to go to the forest to hunt. Both of them sat down on Arjuna's chariot, which flew a flag with a picture of Hanuman
- One Dr. Rele of Bombay, he has interpreted Bhagavad-gita as the talks between the patient and the medical practitioner. Yes. He has imposed on Krsna as the physician and Arjuna as the patient
- One may argue that Arjuna was acting under the personal direction of Krsna, but, when Krsna is not present, how should one act? BG 1972 purports
- One may think that because Krsna was the friend of Arjuna, Arjuna was telling Him all this by way of flattery. BG 1972 Introduction
- One must approach a guru. That is the Vedic injunction. That Arjuna has already done. When he was he was to fight or not to fight, But he could not make solution. So to make a solution we must approach Krsna as guru, or Krsna's representative
- One must sacrifice everything to realize Krsna, just as Arjuna did. He did not want to kill his family members, but when he understood that these family members were impediments to Krsna realization, he accepted the instruction of Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- One of His (Krsna's) final instructions to Arjuna indicates total dependence on Him: In all activities, and for their results, just depend upon Me, and work always under My protection. In such devotional service, be fully conscious of Me. BG 18.57
- One of the real devotees of Krishna was Arjuna during the appearance of Lord Krishna and as such the parampara of the Bhagavad-gita, which was broken prior to the occurrence of the battle of Kuruksetra, was reestablished at the battlefield
- One should act to satisfy the Supreme Lord. For example, Arjuna was a ksatriya. He was hesitating to fight the other party. But if such fighting is performed for the sake of Krsna, the SP of Godhead, there need be no fear of degradation. BG 1972 purports
- One should not guess or speculate about an incarnation of God or the Personality of Godhead. One has to learn from the bona fide person or from the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, as Arjuna did, by the mercy of Krsna
- One verse is sufficient for understanding the essence of Bhagavad-gita. One must be engaged in "My work." And what is this work? It is indicated in the last instruction in Bhagavad-gita in which Krsna tells Arjuna to surrender unto Him - BG 18.66
- One who believes, he becomes, oh, puffed-up with pleasure, "Oh, my Lord is so powerful." And those who do not believe will say: "Oh, it is simply bluffing. Krsna is a person, driving the chariot of Arjuna, and He says . . ." They are imitating
- One who is not taught by a bona fide spiritual master cannot understand the Vedic literature. To emphasize this point, Krsna clearly said that it was because Arjuna was His devotee and confidential friend that he could understand the mystery of the BG
- One who is surrendered, he can understand. Arjuna is surrendered. In every case he surrendered to Krsna. As soon as there is any problem... Problem or no problem, he surrendered
- One who knows the transcendental nature of My (Krsna) appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna
- One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna - explained by Lord Krsna in Bhagavad-gita 4.9
- Only by His (Krsna) merciful strength was I able to vanquish all the lusty princes assembled at the palace of King Drupada for the selection of the bridegroom. With my bow and arrow I could pierce the fish target and thereby gain the hand of Draupadi
- Only the material body of the indestructible, immeasurable and eternal living entity is subject to destruction; therefore, fight, O descendant of Bharata. BG 2.18 - 1972
- Originally the order is from Krsna. Comes by disciplic succession. Just like Krsna said this knowledge to Arjuna, and Arjuna said to others. And it is open. Everyone can take it; there is no secrecy. We have to accept only, that's all
