- I am in due reciept of your letter dated October 13rd, 1974 in which you request to become married. You can consult this matter with Hamsaduta who is my representative. He is Grhastha and he can advise you in this matter
- I am now confident that at least one dozen of you have understood the philosophy and the matters by which it can be handled
- I am so pleased to learn about your staunch faith in Krishna and your Spiritual Master. May Krishna bless you more and more in the matter of advancement of Krishna Consciousness
- I am spirit, I have got my spiritual body, but that body is now covered by this matter
- I am thinking I am matter, I am American, I am this, I am that, I am . . . but when the heart is cleansed, then I understand that I don't belong to this material world. Aham brahmasmi: I am brahma. I am the spiritual spark
- I am very glad that you are already working on the model. Finish it nicely and when I go to Calcutta on the 24th we shall take up the matter of engineering work, consulting with others
- I am very much pleased that you are interested in my scheme at Jyotisar, I think that I shall require your help when this plan is in action. If you have time you can come to Vrindaban to discuss some important matters
- I beg to inform you of one matter which may be of interest to you, namely that we have now got thousands of disciples and well-wishers in the Western countries and out of them many are desiring to travel to India in the near future
- I beg to inform you that I am coming to Bombay by the 15th of March, 1971, and I wish to see you on some important matter
- I did not know anything about this incident. I am very sorry for it however, and I am inquiring into the matter further
- I do not know what I can do in these legal matters. You try your best in consultation with Tamala Krishna. I think that perennial watch-dog is playing some mischief
- I have already informed you what is our purpose in the matter of the Nelore establishment. The ladies must be clearly informed that we are not at all interested to be dictated by them
- I have read it, and am glad that you have understood the matter so thoroughly, and have now substantiated your conclusions with so much scriptural proof. Actually, that is our method of preaching, simply to repeat the message as it is
- I have requested that these type of matters be brought before the GBC instead of me. I am trying very hard to find time to write my books, so I want to be relieved from so many questions
- I have seen this special Rathayatra issue of "Back to Godhead" written by you, and I am so much pleased that so intelligently you have assorted the matter to completely understand our philosophy in a nutshell
- I may instruct you, if somehow or other this Scindia Steam Navigation Company delays the matter, you may advise your shipping agents to dispatch without delay
- I request you to simply translate into the French language our Back To Godhead and send the matters to Jaya Govinda for composing. In due course of time you will get the magazines, by selling which you try to pay part of the composing machine
- I sent Bhavananda there to Bombay to do the needful, and he was silent and went away. Enclosed also find my reply to Giriraja's letter. Now I want that both of you shall go to Bombay immediately for finishing up this conveyance matter immediately
- I shall be glad to hear from you about your other progress in the matter of Sankirtana Party and selling BTGs. That is our main strength for preaching work
- I shall place the matter to my American disciples for consideration; they are eager to do something at Vrndavana according to my direction
- I surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, descended in the form of Kapila, who is independently powerful and transcendental, who is the Supreme Person and the Lord of the sum total of matter and the element of time
- I surrender unto You because whereas I am proud of my material body and senses, Your Lordship is the cause of the cosmic manifestation and yet You are untouched by matter
- I thank you once more for your assurance of service to Krishna and it is very enlightening for me that we have got so many nice souls to serve the cause of Krishna, and in the matter of pushing Krishna consciousness in this country and all over the world
- I think it is best if you consult with Prajapati prabhu on these points. He is in charge of the dramas, so take his advice on these matters
- I think you should not think of relinquish your job without meeting me and discussing the matter deeply. Don't do anything out of sentiment
- I want to know if Nectar of Devotion is coming along at proper pace. So you will kindly manage in Columbus that the printing matters are substantially ready for the press
- Idle talks regarding future development of matter into spirit are actually foolish because no matter has ever developed the power of seeing or moving in any part of the world
- If a ksatriya engaged in his own occupation kills an enemy, there is no sin incurred. In the Third Chapter (of BG) these matters have been clearly and elaborately explained; every man should work for the purpose of yajna, or for Visnu, the SPG. BG 1972 p
- If a man could manufacture a set of machines capable of producing other machines without the man giving the matter any further attention, then a man could be said to equal the intelligence of God. Of course this is not possible
- If in the inferior quality, matter, it is possible, how much it is possible in the superior quality
- If it were possible to create the living substance by chemical or physical combination or permutation of matter, then surely some disciple or other of these great scientists (Sri Jagadish Chandra Bose, Isaac Newton) would have brought them back to life
- If matter were accepted as the original cause of creation, all the authorized scriptures would be useless, for in every scripture, especially the Vedic scriptures like the Manu-smrti, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is said to be the ultimate creator
- If one is fixed in devotional service, he realizes his own self without false identification with matter and without affection for material possessions
- If one looks further into the matter with a little intelligence, he can understand that it was not the body that was enjoying at all but the small spiritual spark that was within
- If personally I (Prabhupada) have any credit in this matter (of Krsna consciousness movement), it is only that I have tried to present Bhagavad-gita as it is, without adulteration. BG 1972 Preface
- If somehow or other we are able to give up this false dress (of matter), we can reach that spiritual kingdom. If once we can attain that spiritual world, return is not necessary - yam prapya na nivartante
- If the mind of the father is not sober, the semen discharged will not be very good. Thus the living entity, wrapped in the matter produced from the father and mother, will be demoniac like Hiranyaksa and Hiranyakasipu
- If there is devanagari character it is still better. Otherwise, correct transliterations will do. So you think over this matter seriously and train your wife for composing, and help her to the best possible way
- If there is no life, the body will not grow. So it's natural conclusion that matter grows upon life
- If there is some very urgent matter, I am always happy to hear from my beloved disciples
- If they accept that everything comes from the living being, then they will have to accept God. So they want to avoid this. "Everything matter." But that is not the fact. Origin is life - that is explained in the BG. Krsna says, aham sarvasya prabhavah
- If this was true of Ajamila (who always remained transcendental to his activities simply by chanting the name Narayana), what is to be said of the Supreme Lord? When the Lord comes to this material world, He does not become a product of matter
- If we divide the tip of a hair into a 100 parts and then take 1 of these parts and divide it again into a 100 parts, that very fine division is the size of but one of the numberless living entities. They are all cit-kana, particles of spirit, not matter
- If we go deeply into the matter and consider it in the light of modern science, it is possible for us to see that sanatana-dharma is the business of all the people of the world. BG 1972 Introduction
- If you argue that, "Cow is an animal. So animal stool is impure. How the cow stool can become pure?" that is puzzling, but it is ordered by the Vedas, it is fact. You analyze cow stool, you find all antiseptic matter
- If you eat, you understand that your hunger is satisfied. Similarly, actually if you follow this principle of Krsna consciousness movement, you'll see yourself that you are advancing in the matter of self-realization
- If you inquire from our students carefully, you will come to understand that these superficial matters are not very serious in the long run & that the students are becoming very happy by their acquiring spiritual knowledge & serving Krsna in so many ways
- If you simply try to understand that two things are visible: one, matter, and one, living force . It is very easy. Simply we require a little intelligence
- If you take up the matter seriously, I can help you also very seriously in cooperation with all important gentlemen who will arrive at Japan from every corner of the world. Please therefore think of a programme for execution by your good Foundation
- If you want My happiness, please return to Nilacala. You will simply condemn Me if you say any more about this matter
- If you want to learn something, you have to approach some expert in the matter, similarly, if you want to learn what is dharma, how to execute it, then you have to approach such gurus or their representative
- If, some way or other, the living spark is gone . . . suppose a dead child is born. It will not grow. It will not change. So this is very simple thing, that on this living being the matter grows, not from matter living being comes in
- In Bhagavad-gita Krsna admits that it is He only who superintends the creative energy, the sum total of matter. Thus Vyasadeva neither worships Brahma nor the sun but the Supreme Lord, who guides both Brahma and the sun in their creative activities
- In Bhagavad-gita Krsna began His teachings by distinguishing the soul from matter and in the Eighteenth Chapter concluded at the point where the soul surrenders to Him in devotion
- In Bhagavad-gita we are informed that the constitutional nature of the individual entity is spirit soul. He is not matter. As spirit soul, he is part and parcel of the supreme soul, the Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead
- In Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krsna states that it is He only who superintends the creative energy, prakrti, which constitutes the totality of matter. Therefore, Sri Vyasadeva does not worship Brahma, but the SL, who guides Brahma in his creative activities
- In Bhagavad-gita, matter is analyzed as apara, or inferior nature, whereas beyond this inferior nature there is another, superior nature - the living entities
- In every publication house all printing matters are edited at least three times. So we should be very much careful about grammatical and printing mistakes. That will mar the prestige of the press and the institution
- In future if there is money sufficient I wish to print each volume of my book, 5000 copies. Now, very soon we shall get 5000 copies of TLC and we have to organize the sales propaganda. If there is sale, then there is no scarcity of matter for printing
- In his eternal conditioned existence the jiva is full of the desire to enjoy matter, while in his eternal liberated state he is full of the desire to render devotional service to the Lord. Thus the jiva can never become God
- In Hrshikesha, the westerners are attracted for finding out some recluse, for practicing so-called yoga. So if you can attract them in India in that way, it will be a great service, and I am repeatedly requesting you to take up this matter seriously
- In Lord Sri Krsna's transcendental pastimes, He reciprocates with spirit, not matter. When He is in the mortal world, the material qualities cannot work upon Him
- In material consciousness, his (living entity's) nature is to try to be the lord of matter, but in spiritual (Krsna) consciousness, his position is to serve the Supreme. BG 1972 purports
- In material nature, everyone is under the stringent laws of matter and must pass through six stages of existence: birth, growth, maintenance, production of by-products, deterioration and finally death
- In my opinion we should print more than 1000 copies every month and distribute them in large scale. I think you will reconsider the matter and let me know your further opinion
- In order to perform real yoga one must realize his constitutional position as being distinct from matter. The purpose of seeking out a secluded place and executing the meditational process is to come to this understanding
- In our daily experience we find so many transformations of matter from one form to another, but we do not lament such changing features
- In our original constitution we are made to love God, but because we have forgotten God, we love matter
- In our village even today, if there is a mutual fight between persons, they go the temple. Why? Even today, earlier it was more prevalent, in the temple no one lies. The matter is resolved
- In refuting this argument (that material nature produces varieties of manifestations. Thus matter is the cause), we may say that an animal of the same species as the cow - namely, the bull - also eats straw like the cow but does not produce milk
- In reply to this argument (matter produces material things on its own), the same proposition of the Brhad-aranyaka Upanisad-that different kinds of living creatures are put into different kinds of bodies by the management of a superior power-is repeated
- In some of the palaces He (Krsna) was found (by Narada) consulting with ministers like Uddhava on important matters of business
- In spite of their (mundane wrangelrs') pride in speculation, they can never appreciate the simple potential activities of the banyan tree. Such speculators are poor souls destined to remain in matter perpetually
- In such a laughing ecstasy of love, Krsna or matters pertaining to Krsna are the cause of the laughter. In such laughing devotional service, there are symptoms of jubilation, laziness, concealed feelings and similar other seemingly disturbing elements
- In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna begins His teachings by distinguishing the soul from matter, and in the Eighteenth Chapter He concludes at the point where the soul surrenders to Him in devotion - CC Intro
- In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna describes the material universe as a nonpermanent place full of miseries. Why, then, would He seek pleasure in matter? He is the Supersoul, the supreme spirit, and His pleasure is beyond the material conception - CC Intro
- In the Bhagavad-gita the Lord says that He descends by His own potency (atma-maya). His form, name, fame, paraphernalia, abode, etc., are not, therefore, creations of matter
- In the Bhagavad-gita we find that this is our brahma-bhuta (SB 4.30.20) (highest stage of goodness) situation. The Vedas teach us that we are not this matter. We are Brahman. Aham brahmasmi
- In the brahma-bhutah stage one no longer identifies with matter. The first symptom of one's having become established on the brahma-bhutah platform is that one becomes jolly (prasannatma). On that platform, there is neither lamentation nor hankering
- In the conditioned state, the living entity is known as jiva-bhuta, or "the living force within matter"
- In the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth one works without fruitive result, meditates and cultivates knowledge to understand spirit and matter. This is necessary as long as one is not in the association of a pure devotee. BG 1972 purports
- In the maha-kalpa the Lord assumes the first purusa incarnation as Karanodakasayi Visnu with all the potencies of the mahat-tattva and the sixteen principles of creative matter and instruments
- In the material world also we have various paraphernalia for our pleasures in life, but because all this paraphernalia is made of matter, it is all destructible at the end
- In the matter of protecting the cows, the meat-eaters will protest, but in answer to them we may say that since Krsna gives stress to cow protection
- In the meantime I have ordered the third printing of KRSNA Volume I, so I am confident of our distribution program's success if you all work on diligently. I am so pleased with your humble and sincere efforts in all these matters
- In the second chapter of this canto (second canto), this matter (the best type of body is a spiritual body) will be broadly discussed, but as far as the change of body is concerned, one must prepare now for the next life
- In the spiritual world the body is not made of matter; therefore there is no change. BG 1972 purports
- In the Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.2.37), bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syat. Dvitiya refers to matter, which is beyond spirit
- In the virat-rupa the material manifestations of different planets have been conceived as His legs, hands, etc. Actually all such descriptions are for the neophytes. The neophytes cannot conceive of anything beyond matter
- In this material world, the mother, prakrti, which is material nature, supplies us with the body, and the Supreme Father impregnates this matter with living souls
- Inert matter cannot be the ultimate cause of the creation, maintenance and destruction of the material world
- Inert matter, in association with dynamic spirit, manifests a false representation or a perverted reflection of that very spiritual variegatedness which is so adamantly denied by the monist class of so-called swamis
- Instead of wasting his energy in matter, which is sure to be destroyed in due course by the supreme will, the conditioned soul should utilize his energy in the devotional service of the Lord so that he can be transferred to the other, eternal nature
- Intelligence refers to the power of analyzing things in proper perspective, and knowledge refers to understanding what is spirit and what is matter. BG 1972 purports
- Intelligent persons must go there (the holy places) at the end of life, and for that matter, after fifty years of age, to live a life of spiritual regeneration for the sake of being freed from family attachment
- Is (matter) also another form of the Lord's manifested energy. Thus the Bhagavad-gita, or any authentic scriptural sound representation of the Lord, is also the incarnation of the Lord
- ISKCON is trying to train people to be situated in that pure condition of life by simple methods, encouraging them to associate always in the matters of God consciousness or Krishna Consciousness
- It (body) was dead matter, and it will remain dead matter. - I am living in this apartment; you are living in this apartment. I am not this apartment. When I vacate, when you vacate this apartment, the apartment remains; we go to another apartment
- It (matter) cannot work unless the superior energy, the living entity, touches it. So how can we conclude that life develops from matter? Rascal scientists may say this, but they do not have sufficient knowledge
- It (the Srimad-Bhagavatam) is powerful reading matter in the Sanskrit language, and it is now rendered into English elaborately so that simply by a careful reading one will know God perfectly well
- It doesn't matter whether a devotee comes from a brahmana family or non-brahmana family; if he is fully devoted to Krsna, he is a sadhu
- It doesn't matter whether it is Christian religion or Hindu religion. No. If the followers are trained up how to love God, how to serve God, that is perfect. That is being taught here. In this KC movement, there is no such teaching to ask from God. No
- It is a different commodity, material - spiritual identity, which is different from this combination of matter, this body. So it requires little training to understand. Although it is very simple fact, but their brain is very dull, material
- It is a great mistake on the part of the material scientists and philosophers to think that matter moves independently
- It is a very important question, and I am glad that you have asked me, but I think from now on the GBC men may be consulted in all such matters of temple management and affairs
- It is an unfortunate civilization in which these matters are not plainly discussed to make people understand the precarious condition of material existence
- It is better to have a learned enemy than a foolish friend, I feel encouraged in this matter. An intelligent opponent will present reasonable rebuttals, but an ignorant friend may bring about disaster with his floundering
- It is customary with this verse (om ajnana-timirandhasya, jnananjana-salakaya, caksur unmilitam yena, tasmai sri-gurave namah) to offer obeisances to the spiritual master who enlightens his disciples in the matter of transcendental knowledge
- It is easy to discern the superiority of spirit over inert matter. The jiva principle is setting into motion and sustaining everything in this material world
- It is my plan that in my old age I am handing over all matters of temple management to you and you may simply carry on and expand the programs which I have introduced, and in this way I will be free to translate
- It is not possible to come to this understanding (one's constitutional position is to be distinct from matter) if one executes the process improperly
- It is said that Krsna has a sac-cid-ananda body - isvarah paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah (Bs. 5.1) - and we also have a similar body of eternity, knowledge, and bliss, but it is very small and is covered by the dress of matter
- It is said that varnasrama-dharma is external, and Caitanya Mahaprabhu requested Ramananda Raya to proceed deeper into the matter and uncover the spiritual platform
- It is the actual guidance that matters in the process of becoming a brahmana, even without change of body, or in going back to Godhead without change of body
- It is very difficult to find a few human beings who believe in the scriptures and the existence of God, or, for that matter, in proper behavior
- It is very difficult to find a few human beings who believe in the scriptures and the existence of God, or, for that matter, in proper behavior. Those who do believe in the value of these things are known as arya
- It is very simple to understand. Machine is matter. It cannot work out of its own accord. It is working under some spiritual direction
J
- Jariwala's letter is not very encouraging. He is prepared to some silver Murtis; Murtis we have already got. Therefore we should not take him for the present very seriously. Later on we shall thank over the matter
- Jayananda is a very sincere and intelligent boy & I think his decision should be accepted as final in the matter. Not only in this case, but in every complicated case, the elected authorities in the management of the temple should be the final authority
- Jnanis and hatha-yogis can only gradually ascend to the spiritual platform by nullifying their material discrimination on the platform of psychology and nullifying the false ego, by which one thinks, "I am this body, a product of matter"
- Just as the Supreme Personality of Godhead accepts various incarnations, He takes on forms made out of matter - clay, wood, metal and jewels
- Just as when an electric current is passed into some metal, the whole metal becomes surcharged with electricity; so too, when Krsna is interested in some matter, that matter becomes Krsna-ized
- Just like a big machine, computer, or any other machine, it is combination of matter, but it cannot work independently until and unless there is touch of the spiritual nature, a human being
- Just like a man and woman becomes lusty and their combination brings forth a child, a third matter. They think like that. They are thinking everything is matter. No. There is good brain within the combination
- Just like the matter created by the male and female, the jiva soul enters and then the body develops
- Just like we don't keep any furniture in our hou... What is the use of furniture? We can lie down on the floor. So many things, materialistic persons they possess. But we try to simplify matters, plain living. Well-wisher to all
- Just like we have to increase our love for Krsna. The proportionately we increase our love for Krsna, we decrease our love for matter
K
- Kala is identical with the Lord Himself, and therefore the influence of kala indicates the inexplicable wish of the Lord Himself. There is nothing to be lamented when a matter is beyond the control of any human being
- Kamsa begged Devaki's pardon by analyzing the matter deeply. He was not the cause of the death of Devaki's sons. Rather, this was their own destiny. Under the circumstances, Devaki should excuse Kamsa and forget his past deeds without lamentation
- Karanarnavasayi Visnu electrifies the matter to put it in motion because He is a plenary expansion of Krsna. The example of electrification is quite appropriate
- Kindly deal with such (scandalous) matters in future with great caution and tactfully so that our Movement may not get a bad reputation, especially among people who are very sensitive to such things
- Kindly inquire into this matter and do the needful. Either Indian or foreign whoever joins us they are not under any obligation, our only tie is Love of Godhead. It should be our definite policy that nobody is ill treated that he may go away
- Kindly take my word and do not leave our society. If you cannot agree with the GBC, I can take up your matter personally and do the needful
- King Pariksit said: O Sukadeva Gosvami, why did Vasistha, the spiritual master of Saudasa, curse that great soul? I wish to know of this. If it is not a confidential matter, please describe it to me
- Knowledge means knowing the distinction between spirit and matter. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna confirms in Bhagavad-gita that the living entity is eternally His part and parcel. The part and parcel is meant to serve the whole. This is individuality. It is so even in this material existence, when the living entity apparently merges in matter
- Krsna consciousness is acting according to Krsna's order. A conditioned soul illusioned by the external energy of matter does not know that the Supreme Lord is the master who is full of knowledge and who is the proprietor of everything. BG 1972 purports
- Krsna Consciousness Movement is India's original culture. Why the Government should not help in spreading this culture while they are eager to receive it? I hope you will kindly think over this matter and help me
- Krsna consciousness movement is meant for reviving that lost consciousness. We have lost this consciousness that, I am the part and parcel of Krsna, the supreme blissful enjoyer, but somehow or other, being complicated within this matter, I am suffering
- Krsna does not make such a vain attempt (to exhibit pleasure potency in matter). The object of Krsna's pleasure potency is Radharani, and He exhibits His potency or His energy as Radharani and then engages in loving affairs with Her
- Krsna does not take any pleasure in this material world, but He has a pleasure potency. Because we are part and parcel of Krsna, the pleasure potency is within us also, but we are trying to exhibit that pleasure potency in matter
- Krsna does not take any pleasure in this material world, but He has a pleasure potency. Because we are part and parcel of Krsna, the pleasure potency is within us also, but we are trying to exhibit that pleasure potency in matter - CC Intro
- Krsna is the purifying ingredient in all matters, regardless of what they are. In the mundane world, everything is impure due to its being a product of the three mundane qualities. The purifying agent, however, is Krsna
- Krsna is the source of both life and matter. There are two energies. One is superior energy; another, it is inferior energy. The material elements, they are inferior energy, and the superior energy - jiva-bhutam maha-baho
- Krsna said to Arjuna, gatasun agatasums ca (BG 2.11). Just like motorcar: with driver or no driver, what is it? It is dead matter. That's all. Why one should be busy about this motorcar? One should be busy about the driver
- Krsna, being situated in the truths of Sankhya philosophy, is detached from all kinds of matter. In the present verse (SB 3.3.20) it is described that He is the residence of the goddess of fortune. These two things are not at all contradictory
- Krsnized. Just like if there electric charges, electric current, is in some metal, the whole thing becomes surcharged with electricity, similarly, when Krsna is interested in some matter, then the whole thing becomes Krsnized
L
- Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Purusottama, Lord Krsna, who is always free from the contamination of the six material dualities; whose plenary expansion, Maha-Visnu, glances over matter to create the cosmic manifestation
- Let this couple first of all legally marry. After that we bless them by observing a fire ceremony. It is not necessary to burden me with these matters. Please consult with the local GBC
- Let us not revive this old matter, but I want to know from you what is your opinion of the matter, and how is it that Hamsaduta and Atreya Rsi were able to persuade you all senior leaders of the Society to follow their foolish activities? Kindly inform
- Life also came from life; matter also came from life. That is explained in the Vedanta-sutra: janmadyasya yatah. And it is explained in BG also: aham sarvasya prabhavah (BG 10.8). So there is no difficulty
- Lord Balarama came personally to settle the matter, and, as a powerful ksatriya, He ordered them to free Samba immediately. The Kauravas were superficially insulted by this order, so they challenged Lord Balarama's power
- Lord Balarama, being able to understand the destiny awaiting them (Bhimasena and Duryodhana), was not eager to go further in the matter. Therefore, instead of staying, He decided to return to the city of Dvaraka
- Lord Buddha did not say about the activities of spiritual life. He simply gave hint that there, that matter is false. Matter is generated by spirit. Spirit is the real, principal thing
- Lord Buddha preached that there is no God and no soul, that this body is a combination of matter, and that when we dissolve this material combination, sensations of misery and happiness will no longer exist
- Lord Caitanya wanted this business, so by the parampara system through my Guru Maharaja and my humble self, the matter is handed over to you. Now it is up to you American boys and girls to do the needful
- Lord Caitanya was very strict in advising His followers in this matter of celibacy. One of His personal attendants, Chota Haridasa, was severely punished by Lord Caitanya because of his failure to observe the vow of celibacy
- Lord Krsna, in order to encourage Arjuna to higher and higher elevation in His potent service, describes in this Ninth Chapter (of BG) matters more confidential than any He has already disclosed. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Narayana is not born of anything material. Matter is generated from matter, but He is not born of matter. Brahma is born after the creation, but since the Lord existed before the creation, the Lord has no material body
- Lord Sankaracarya preached this gospel (Bhagavad-gita) to the world. We are not this matter; we are Brahman, spirit. When spiritual realization is actually accomplished, then our symptoms will change. What are those symptoms
- Lord Sri Krsna has repeatedly instructed Arjuna, or for that matter everyone concerned with becoming His unalloyed devotee. In the last phase of His instruction in the Bhagavad-gita (18.64-66) He instructed most confidentially
- Love is there. Either we love matter, or we love God. But in no case can we get out of this loving propensity; indeed, we often see that when one doesn't have children, he loves a cat or a dog. Why? Because we want and need to love something
- Lusty intelligence influences the spirit soul to acquire the false ego and identify itself with matter, and thus with the mind and senses. The spirit soul becomes addicted to enjoying the material senses and mistakes this as true happiness. BG 1972 pur

- Maharaja Pariksit inquires about this very important matter for the benefit of all classes of candidates on the path of self-realization and devotional service to the Lord
- Many people come in our Society not in the beginning as devotee - as a matter of inquisitiveness. Then gradually he wants to become initiated. He approaches, "Kindly initiate me. Make me a disciple." Bhajana kriya. This is called bhajana-kriya
- Mass of people may be poor, but we want to approach respectable persons. They are not poor. They will pay. Why third-class printing, fourth-class matter? Our first-class matter, first-class printing. We have got better scope than Gita Press
- Material bondage is caused by putting oneself under the control of matter because of the false ego of lording it over material nature. Bhagavad-gita (BG 7.27) states, iccha-dvesa-samutthena. Two kinds of propensities arise in the living entity
- Material nature is inert, and as such it cannot be the cause of matter, neither as the material nor as the efficient cause
- Materialistic philosophers accept matter to be the material and efficient cause of creation; for them, matter is the cause of every type of manifestation
- Materialistic scientists, they are studying the brain substance, but what is this brain substance? This is also matter. Brain substance actually do not work. That is something else. Within this body there is the proprietor of the body
- Matter also has the potency to manifest living entities in the form of vegetables. In this sense, life comes out of matter, but matter also comes out of life
- Matter can never work automatically, without a living hand, and therefore we must admit the existence of God, the supreme living being, behind the laws of nature
- Matter cannot act independently or automatically. Machines may be very wonderfully constructed, but unless a man touches that machine, it cannot work. And what is that man? He is a spiritual spark
- Matter cannot work without being directed by a living being. We cannot say that matter works independently
- Matter does not increase or decrease unless it is spiritually touched. Matter is a product of spirit and increases only by the touch of spirit
- Matter grows and develops because of the presence of the spirit soul, and this principle has been followed from the very beginning of the creation
- Matter interacts with matter, but the soul does not belong to the material world. This means that the soul is above material action and reaction
- Matter is activated by the spirit soul; it is not that the soul is created by matter
