- A person, who is one hundred percent engaged in Krsna consciousness, is accepted as sadhu, even though such a person may neither be learned nor well cultured. BG 1972 purports

- A sadhu is not the friend of a particular society, community or country but is a friend of all - not only of human beings, but of animals and lower forms of life
- A sadhu like Vidura is meant to awaken such blind persons and help them go back to Godhead, where life is eternal. Once going there, no one wants to come back to this material world of miseries
- A sadhu means one who follows the principles of scripture and at the same time is a devotee of the Lord
- A sadhu simply takes pleasure in hearing about Krsna and talking about Him
- A sadhu simply teaches, "My dear human being, my dear friend, just surrender to Krsna." Enemies arise due to man's envious nature
- A sadhu will teach one to become a devotee, a worshiper and a sincere servitor of the Lord. These are the gifts of a sadhu
- A sadhu's business is for the benefit of all living entities. A sadhu does not like to cut even a tree, because he knows, "Here is a living entity. He is standing here for many years by his karma, and he has to continue this for many years more"
- A sadhu, a devotee, is never angry. Actually the real feature of devotees who undergo tapasya, austerity, is forgiveness
- A sadhu, a saintly person, a righteous person, a religious person, will never be happy by other's killing. But killing of persons like scorpion and serpent
- A sadhu, a saintly person, never approves of killing, not even the killing of an animal, but Prahlada Maharaja said, modeta sadhur api vrscika-sarpa-hatya: (SB 7.9.14) - Even a saintly person is pleased when a scorpion or a snake is killed
- A sadhu, a Vaisnava, offers respects to everyone, and he is ready to give up relatives and everything else for Krsna's sake
- A sadhu, does not require deliverance, but because he is very much anxious to see the Supreme Lord face to face, Krsna comes not to deliver him from the clutches of matter, from which he has already been delivered, but to satisfy his inner desire

- Accepted as a sadhu
- According to Bhagavad-gita, a sadhu (holyman) is a man in Krsna consciousness. BG 1972 purports
- Adau sraddha tatah sadhu-sangah (Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu 1.4.15). This is the way to make spiritual advancement. One has to associate with a sadhu
- All the members of this Krsna consciousness society must themselves be perfect sadhus in order to give a chance to fallen conditioned souls. This is the best humanitarian work
- All the saintly persons, Pitas (denizens of Pitrloka) and demigods who were present at the meeting and heard Prthu Maharaja expressed their good will with the words sadhu, sadhu. They all accepted the good mission of Prthu, and they were fully satisfied
- Allegation against the sadhus

- Although we find in the neophyte devotee some bad behavior, so we should not take him as nondevotee. Sadhur eva sa mantavyah (BG 9.30). He is sadhu - if he sticks to Krsna consciousness. And the bad habits which are visible now, it will disappear
- Ananya-bhavena, without any deviation, unflinching, staunch devotee, they are called sadhu. So we have to associate with sadhu. Satam prasangat. When you discuss about Krsna with sadhu or devotees, it becomes very pleasing
- Another symptom of a sadhu or spiritually advanced man is described in Srimad-Bhagavatam by Lord Kapila: titiksavah karunikah suhrdah sarva dehinam (SB 3.25.21). The symptoms of a sadhu is that he is tolerant, merciful, and friendly to all living entities
- Any literature, simply, simply trying to describe the glories of the ananta. Yaso anki, yasah ankitani yat srnvanti gayanti grnanti sadhavah. Those who are sadhu, those who are devotees, they hear that literature
- Anywhere, those who are actually sadhu, saintly persons, they are very tolerant. Ksama-rupa tapasvinam. That is the qualification of sadhu: titiksava. At the same time karunika, merciful. The others are torturing him, but still he is merciful
- Apart from Bhagavad-gita, which is spoken by Krsna, we can read these other books. In this way, one can learn the art of becoming a sadhu
- Api cet suduracaro bhajate mam ananya-bhak, sadhur eva sa mantavyah (BG 9.30). He is sadhu. He is saintly man. Even if you find some defect in his character, because he is sticking to Krsna consciousness, he is saintly
- As confirmed by Krsna in Bhagavad-gita (9.30), bhajate mam ananya-bhak sadhur eva sa mantavyah: anyone fully attached to Krsna is a sadhu

- Because Narada Muni is the most elevated of sadhus, devotees, to deliver Prajapati Daksa he silently tolerated the curse
- Because one has concentrated himself simply in Krsna consciousness and devotional service, even though sometimes there are some discrepancies in the matter of his work, still he should be accepted as sadhu, as purified soul
- Become sadhu simply by chanting the Hare Krsna mantra
- Being very dear to the devotees and sadhus, I am attained through unflinching faith and devotional service. This bhakti-yoga system, which gradually increases attachment for Me, purifies even a human being born among dog-eaters

E
- Engaged constantly in chanting and hearing about Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the sadhus do not suffer from material miseries because they are always filled with thoughts of My pastimes and activities
- Envious people create many impediments to the Krsna consciousness movement, but we have to tolerate them. There is no alternative. One must be peaceful and depend on Krsna in all circumstances. These are the ornaments of a sadhu

F
H
- He (a sadhu) does not simply think, "I shall just take care of my brother." He looks on all living beings as his brothers because Krsna says that He is the father of all living entities

- If he is Krsna conscious strictly - he does not deviate, he does not forget Krsna - then he is to be accepted as sadhu. Krsna says. That, only for that qualification. Bhajate mam ananya-bhak. That is the qualification of Krsna consciousness movement
- If he's approved sadhu, you can read his book
- If somebody's sadhu is speaking against sastra, then he's not sadhu. If somebody's guru, if he's going against sastra, then he's not guru. And sastra means the original guru and sadhu
- If we want to make the whole world sadhu, perfect human being, then we have to push on this movement without any hesitation
- If you associate with a really sadhu, if you execute really devotional service, these anarthas will be vanquished. That is the symptom. No more illicit sex. No more intoxication. No more gambling. No more meat-eating, fish-eating, egg-eating

- It is said that we have to accept knowledge through saintly person. Through sastra and guru we have to understand. So Krsna is accepted by all the sadhus and acaryas
- It is the sadhu's business to be very tolerant. When one becomes a devotee, many people become one's enemy, because in this age people are asuric, demoniac
- It is the sadhu's business to teach this (divert one's thoughts to Krsna), and one can learn this in the association of a sadhu. Actually a sadhu will not teach anything else
- It is very difficult to find a sadhu for association. We have therefore started this Krsna consciousness movement to create an association of sadhus so that people may take advantage and become liberated. There is no other purpose for this society
