- Summarizing this chapter (CC Antya 2), Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura says that one should derive from it the lessons
- Suppose a man is already married and Prahlada says, "Take to Krsna consciousness." He will think, "Oh, how can I leave my wife? We talk so nicely together, sit together and enjoy. How can I leave?" Family attraction is very strong
- Surrender means that one will accept whatever the guru says. It is not that one thinks, "I do not care for my guru's order. Still I am a disciple." That is not actually accepting a guru
T
- The Brahma-samhita also gives us information regarding Jagadisa, the Supreme. In that work, Lord Brahma says that the supreme controller is Lord Krsna Himself - isvarah paramah krsnah - Bs. 5.1
- The brahmana replied, - I am reading Bhagavad-gita, or, rather, I am trying to read Bhagavad-gita. I happen to be illiterate, but my guru-maharaja has said that I must read the eighteen chapters of Bhagavad-gita daily
- The devotee Prahlada says - My dear friends, this is the time, in this young age, to prosecute Krsna consciousness - SB 7.6
- The devotee, on the positive side, wants to possess something, and this is very nicely described by Prahlada , who says, "If I must take some benediction from You (Nrsimhadeva), I pray that within the core of my heart there may be no material desires"
- The duty of a spiritual master is to say give up all dharma and surrender unto the lotus feet of Krishna. He is a spiritual master. Otherwise the rest are cheaters. One who himself becomes Krishna, he is a cheater
- The guru is the confidential servant of Krsna because he canvasses from door to door, saying, "Please become Krsna conscious and surrender unto Krsna." Krsna tells Arjuna that such a person is very dear to Him
- The Krsna conscious person can go even to hell and still be happy. Therefore Prahlada Maharaja said, naivodvije para duratyaya-vaitaranyah: "O best of the great personalities, I am not at all afraid of material existence"
- The living entity is the smallest. Jiva Gosvami says in this connection that the living entity within the body is extremely difficult for materialistic scientists to find, although we understand from authorities that the living entity is within the body
- The son of Sukracarya, Hiranyakasipu's spiritual master, said: O enemy of King Indra, O King! Whatever your son Prahlada has said was not taught to him by me or anyone else
- The spiritual master does not have to say anything beyond that (the spiritual master is he who has captured the words of a particular disciplic succession whatever he has been taught). This is the qualification
- This human form of life is very rare. It is a great opportunity. Therefore Prahlada says - My dear friends, you are born as civilized human beings, so although your human body is temporary, it is the greatest opportunity
- This is acceptance of spiritual master. You don't say: "Oh, I am such a great scholar, and unjustly my spiritual master says that I am fool." Then you lose the connection at once. He is, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is speaking about His own discipleship
- This is required, that everything engaged in Krsna's service. That is called yukta-vairagya. Not phalgu-vairagya. Rupa Gosvami says, "Motor car is material; therefore we should not touch it" - this is phalgu-vairagya
- This is the verdict of all sastras. The guru never says, "I am Krsna, I am God, I am Bhagavan." Rather, the guru says, - I am the most humble servant of the servant of the servant of God
- Thus (commentary of BG, Sankaracarya says that Narayana is transcendental to this manifested & unmanifested creation, and in the same commentary he says that the SPG, Narayana, is Krsna) in this respect there is little difference of opinion about Krsna
- To save oneself, one must take shelter of a pure devotee. Narottama dasa Thakura therefore says, chadiya vaisnava-seva nistara payeche keba
W
- Whatever the spiritual master says must be accepted by the disciple. Only then is success certain. This is the Vedic system
- When a child is five or six years old - as soon as his consciousness is developed - he should be sent to school to be trained, and Prahlada Maharaja says that his education should be Krsna conscious from the very beginning
- When Brahma said, "Yes, let it be so," the most fortune Drona, who was equal to Bhagavan, appeared in Vrajapura, Vrndavana, as the most famous Nanda Maharaja, and his wife, Dhara, appeared as mother Yasoda - SB 10.8.50
- When Prahlada Maharaja says manye, "I think," it has to be taken as authoritative statement. We have to follow. If we follow the footprints of great personalities, then there is no danger
- When Prahlada Maharaja was a five-year-old boy, he was sent to school. As soon as there was a recreation period, when the teacher was away, he would say to his friends - My dear friends, come on. We shall speak about Krsna consciousness
- Why should we be very anxious to know Visnu, or God? Prahlada Maharaja gives a reason: Visnu is the dearmost person. That we have forgotten
- Why you are giving so much importance to the man, even if he is born in a lower family? He (Prahlada Maharaja) says, manye tad-arpita-mano-vacana iha. Iha means endeavor
Y
- Yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says that if one pleases the Vaisnava spiritual master, all of one's desires will be fulfilled
- You can become master, even God you can become - this is cheating. The real spiritual master says that "You can never become master. You are always servant"
