- A brahmacari is supposed to engage in the service of a sannyasi and accept him as his guru. Mayavadi sannyasis therefore declare themselves to be not only gurus but jagad-gurus, or the spiritual masters of the entire world

- No one can render devotional service to an impersonal entity because such service implies a reciprocal personal relationship between the servant and the master
- Nobody is master here, but when we falsely claim that, "I am master," that is maya. Everyone is serving, but under the impression that he is master
- Now we are training boys who are spiritually inclined and they are unnecessarily being forced into military service. The foolish have no knowledge that some boy is being trained up in higher science. Why should he be destroyed when he is being perfected
- Nowadays the education is that nobody can live independently. Higher education means if he does not get a suitable service, then it is useless

- Of course, he should not be foolish, that "God is giving me everything without asking, so why should I bother God, asking?" That is advanced devotion. Therefore pure devotee, they do not ask anything from God. They simply want to give service
- One can become rich only by trying his luck in business. It is not possible by serving other. One should have independent source of income that is possible only if one is engaged in business or in land lordship

- Pure devotee, they do not ask anything from God. They simply want to give service. Why shall I ask? God knows my necessities

- Sanatana Gosvami was a minister in the service of Nawab Hussain Shah. He was always mixing with materially inclined people, particularly with Muslims, meat-eaters
- Sanatana Gosvami was born in a very respectable brahmana family, but because he accepted the service of Muhammadan king, actually he lost his all brahminical culture. He did not lose, but superficially it appeared
- Service means to the senses. That's all. We are servant of our senses. We give service to the master . . . not to the master. I give service to the money - he pays me - not to the master. I have no love for the master
- Service means whatever the spiritual master wants, "You do this," you must do it, just like a menial servant
- Service spirit is your constitutional position. You have to serve. But because you have placed your service spirit in a wrong place, you are frustrated. You have to put it into the right place, and that is Krsna consciousness movement

- Tad viddhi pariprasnena, pranipatena, and sevaya. The questions should be put, guided by two principles: surrender and service. That is the way
- Temporary time-serving devotional service is not accepted as pure devotional service. Actual devotional service continues even after liberation. BG 1972 purports
- The arca-murti we are serving. It is not that. . . Don't think. . . Arcye visnau sila-dhih. If you are rascal, they will think that "These people are serving a stone statue." The rascals will think like that, but that is not the fact

- The Lord (Caitanya) is more pleased when one serves the servant of the Lord
- The Lord accepted this cursing of His servants (Jaya and Vijaya) and agreed that they would have to go to the material world and would then return to Vaikuntha after serving the term of the curse

- We are explaining this morning: antavanta ime dehah. This body is perishable. It is material. What is the use of serving it? However you serve it, it will destroy. Try to save the soul who is put into this body and embarrassed

- While in the prime of life, the great Maharaja Bharata gave up everything because he was fond of serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Uttamasloka. He gave up his beautiful wife, nice children, great friends and an enormous empire
- Why do they (thieves) risk their lives? Only to get some money. Similarly, a professional soldier is recruited into the army, and he accepts such service, with the risk of dying on the battlefield, only for the sake of money
- Why India is fallen down? Because the so-called rascals, they are claiming that "I am brahmana." But what is our occupation, sir? "Oh, I am serving as a coolie." Is that brahmana's business?
- Why not becoming the servant of the Supreme instead of serving on the servant of the senses? You cannot become master. Actually, you become master of the senses when you are actually servant of Krsna; otherwise it is not possible
- Wife should get enlightenment from the husband, and she should give service. The husband is well situated; she is not discomforted, always looking to the comfort of the husband. And it is the duty of the husband to enlighten the wife always
- Without Krsna consciousness everything will be failure. Therefore Bharata Maharaja, er, Rsabhadeva Maharaja is advising that, You concentrate your service to Bharata
- Without service, our inquiries will be futile, but even before making inquiries, we should have some qualification

- You can become a perfect devotee simply by service. There is no other method. Bhaktya mam abhijanati (BG 18.55). Bhakti means service, simply. That is bhakti
- You cannot abolish that system (training brahmanas to serve the social body). That is a false attempt
- You cannot be free from service. That's a fact. Either you serve the society or serve your family, serve your country or somebody, somebody, somebody, cats, dogs - you have to serve. That is your position. But this service is confusing, frustrating
- You go to the president, Johnson. Ask him, "Don't you serve anybody?" "Oh, yes, I am serving the country." So who is out of service? Nobody is out of service. But he's serving the illusion. And as soon as he serves the Supreme, he becomes mahatma
