A
- A class of ksatriya must be there, a class of vaisya must be there. This is called varnasrama. For the peaceful execution of material life these things are required, division

- First class of men will not want to take to spiritual knowledge. But the person who is inquisitive and is not satisfied with this material life, he can hear this knowledge submissively and derive great benefit from it

- Just like to cure disease, you have to follow some regulative principle of, prescribed by the physician, similarly, in order to cure yourself from this material disease, you have to accept. Nivrtti. Nivrttitah means ceasing this process of material life
- Just performing these five activities (serving the devotees, hearing Srimad-Bhagavatam, chanting Hare Krsna, worshiping the Deity and living in a place of pilgrimage) can deliver one from the miserable condition of material life

- Krsna consciousness movement is how to increase detachment for this material life. Therefore it is called vairagya-vidya
- Krsna is so kind that if one wants material prosperity but at the same time wants to become a devotee, Krsna makes him a failure in material life

- Maharaja Yayati was eager to serve Vasudeva, Krsna, and therefore as soon as he wanted to renounce material life, Lord Vasudeva helped him
- Man is attached to woman, and woman is attached to man. Not only in human society - in animal society also. That attachment is the basic principle of material life
- Many people are becoming very great in the estimation of material life. From very poor man, they are becoming millionaires. How? They have got intelligence, certainly. Without intelligence they cannot improve. But that intelligence is also given by Krsna

- Materialistic persons think that the path of religion is meant for improving their material conditions. The materialist goes to a temple to worship many varieties of demigods just to receive some benediction to improve his material life
- Maya inflicts the miseries of material life upon the jiva. If a person artificially tries to be something he is not, then he can expect only misery
- Maya means to give sufficient punishment to the living entities who have forgotten Krsna and want to enjoy material life independently. They are called conditioned soul
- Mayavadi philosophers think that it is sufficient to stop all material activity, and the Buddhist philosophers advocate nirvana, cessation of material life. Neither give more information
- Miseries and mixed happiness are two features of material life, and they are obtained in Brahmaloka and in other lokas also. They are obtained in the life of the demigods and also in the life of the dogs and hogs

- Narottama dasa Thakura herein says that he repents for having spoiled his human life and knowingly drunk poison. By not being Krsna conscious, one willingly drinks the poison of material life

- Nirvana, the Buddha philosophy, is just above the material conditional life but on the margin of spiritual existence

- People are enamored by this material life to have high parentage. They are enamored by these things. "I must have birth in high family, in brahmin family, in king's family, in heavenly planet, in demigod's family." They think this is life
- People are so foolish that they simply waste time in temporary pursuits of material happiness, eating, sleeping, defending and enjoying sex life. Especially sex life. The sum and substance of material life is attraction for the opposite sex
- People are thinking that advancement of civilization means improving eating, sleeping, mating and defending, but actually these activities have nothing to do with civilization. They simply tighten our bondage to material life
- People generally think that religion should be pursued for material profit. This may be suitable for persons interested in material life, but one who is interested in spiritual life should be attached to paro dharmah
- People want to be cheated, and therefore they go to yogis and svamis who play tricks, but tricks do not mitigate the miseries of material life
- People were very, very happy, even in this material life, because everyone was confident that he was making progress to go back to home, back to Godhead. That is human civilization. But the aim was Visnu
- People who are very attached to material life do not generally become devotees of Krsna or Visnu. Instead they become devotees of the demigods
- Persons who are householders without Krsna consciousness are constantly tarrying in material life, in spite of all kinds of inconveniences. In family life, or any life, one cannot be perfectly happy without being Krsna conscious
- Persons who are strongly entrapped by the consciousness of enjoying material life, and who have therefore accepted as their leader or guru a similar blind man attached to external sense objects, cannot understand that the goal of life is to return home
- Prahlada Maharaja said to his father, - My dear father, if somebody quits this scene of grham andha-kupam, a dark well of this material life, and goes to the forest and takes shelter of Krsna, oh, that is very nice thing
- Princes offered prayers to Krsna, "We now have sufficient experience of the miserable material life in which we are fully absorbed & having tasted its bitterness, we have come to take shelter under Your lotus feet. Therefore please give us protection"
- Puranjana, the living entity, wanders in different types of bodies, but everywhere meets frustration in his attempt to enjoy. In other words, the spiritual spark covered by matter cannot fully enjoy the senses in any circumstance in material life

- Real knowledge means knowing that however great one may be, the four principles of material life are present: birth, old age, disease and death. These exist in the highest planetary system (Brahmaloka) and in the lowest - Patalaloka
- Real knowledge means understanding the miserable condition of material life. One should take shelter of a liberated soul, the spiritual master, and gradually elevate himself to the spiritual platform and thus become detached from the material world
- Real success is to get out of the clutches of maya, means this material conditional life which comprehends birth, death, old age and disease

- Some of the living entities are relatively happy in better conditions of life, whereas others are in distressed conditions of life. But factually, none of them are actually happy in material conditional life
- Some philosophers think that in response negatively to the nasty consciousness of material life we should become "thoughtless" but this is not Krsna Consciousness, nor is it possible to become void or like a stone
- Some philosophies maintain that after liberation from material life, after the nirvana of this material body, we become zero, void. That is a dangerous theory. By nature the living entity is not attracted to zero
- Sometimes one is elevated to higher planetary systems, and sometimes one is thrown into the hellish condition of material life
- Sometimes, due to misery, one becomes very hardened toward his affectionate sons, daughters and wife. This is but part of the blazing fire of the forest of material life
- Spiritual life means anxiety-less. This is the difference between material life and spiritual life. In the BG it is described what is spiritual life. As soon as you are identified with the Absolute Truth, Brahman, then symptoms will be jubilation

- Taking shelter of devotional service to the Lord in full Krsna consciousness is therefore the only way to become free from the contamination of material, conditioned life, especially in this age

- The miserable condition of material life is compared with the blazing fire in the forest. As it is very difficult to extinguish the forest fire, similarly, the problems of material life cannot be extinguished simply by material benefits
- The miserable conditions of material life have been pointed out by Sri Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita. Krsna says that the problem of life is janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi (BG 13.9), meaning that birth, death, old age and disease

- To attain freedom from material life, one must take to Krsna consciousness. Otherwise, if one very busily engages in the so-called advancement of science, what benefit will he derive?

- Under this system (varnasrama-dharma), the regulative principles are so nice that even if one has the tendency to enjoy material life, he is so nicely molded that at last he achieves liberation and goes back home, back to Godhead. This is the process
- Unfortunately nobody will be allowed to stay, even if you want to stay. That is the miserable condition of material life
- Unfortunately, in this material, conditional life we are changing different bodies, but we are not getting situated again in that spiritual platform where there is no birth, no death. There is no science

- Vaisnavas preach only devotional service, not encouraging karmis, jnanis and yogis, because if one must liberate oneself from material, conditional life, one must ultimately become a Vaisnava

- Voidness philosophy has created atheism. Because, just try to understand clearly, I am spiritual being. I want enjoyment. That is my life. I want enjoyment. But as soon as my future is void, I must be inclined to enjoy this material life

- We are not impersonalists or voidists. Our program is to enter into the association of Krishna. But we cannot enter within this association without being completely disinfected from the contamination of material sinful life
- We are spiritual beings, and we want enjoyment, but as soon as our future is void, we will become inclined to enjoy this material life
- We are suffering in this material life on account of these three modes of material nature, especially the modes of passion and ignorance
- We are to end this material life only after finding out the true blissful life of eternity
- We are very proud that we are happy and are improving our civilization. The result, however, is that although we try to enjoy material life, the duration of our life is shortened

- You are trying to prolong your life by scientific method, but what is the use of such life? This material life, there is suffering

- You may be very much advanced in knowledge or so-called science, but because God says that in the material life you must die, you cannot avoid this law
- You may go on for some time trying to become happy, but happiness will never come from materialistic life. That is a fact. Those who are trying to be happy by making material adjustments cannot take to Krsna consciousness
- You understand that this colorful life of material existence is not good. But what is your positive engagement? Unless you are positively engaged in another superior colorful life, you cannot give up this base colorful life
- Yudhisthira said, "My dear Lord (Krsna), those who are constantly in Krsna consciousness and who think of Your lotus feet or Your shoes are certainly freed from all contamination of material life"
- Yudhisthira said, "My dear Lord (Krsna), You are the ocean of unlimited knowledge and transcendental bliss. The reactions of mental concoctions in the three phases of material life - wakefulness, sleep and deep sleep - cannot exist in Krsna consciousness"
- Yukta Vairagya, means that we should simply accept the bare necessities of our material part of life, & try to save time for spiritual advancement. This should be the motto of New Vrindaban, I am always at your service to help you by practical suggestion
