- In the material world that brahmajyoti the Lord's spiritual effulgence, is covered by the mahat-tattva, the material elements; therefore in this material world we require the assistance of sun, moon, electricity, etc., for light. BG 1972 purports

- Rahu is inimical toward both the sun and the moon, and therefore he always tries to cover the sunshine and moonshine on the dark-moon day and full-moon night

- Tama means darkness. Anything of this material world, that is in darkness because this material world is dark. You know that the whole world, whole universe, is dark. Therefore there is requisition of the sunlight, moonlight, electricity
- That abode of Mine (Krsna's) is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by electricity. And anyone who reaches it never comes back to this material world. (BG. 15.6) This verse gives a description of that eternal sky. BG 1972 Introduction

- This (birth of Soma, the moon-god) appears contradictory to the Vedic information, but actually it is not, for this birth of the moon is understood to have taken place in another millennium
- This chapter (the ninth chapter of the ninth canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam) describes how Sudyumna became a woman and how the dynasty of Vaivasvata Manu was amalgamated with the Soma-vamsa, the dynasty coming from the moon
