- Some of the asuras, or demons, such as Ravana and Hiranyakasipu, underwent a severe process of austerity and penance, but they obtained nothing except some temporary objects of sensory pleasure
- Some of them (the impious and the nondevotees) who are specially favored by God are killed by Him personally as in the cases of Ravana, Hiranyakasipu & Kamsa, such demons get salvation and are checked from further progress in their demoniac activities
