- Janaka Maharaja, Bhismadeva, and Sukadeva Gosvami, Prahlada Maharaja - in this way there are twelve authorities, and all of them are following the Sankhya philosophy or bhakti-yoga, all of them

- Jnana and vairagya can be awakened by bhakti-yoga. Bhakti means surrender unto Krsna. Without surrendering to Krsna, we cannot understand our situation
K

- Love means love of Godhead. Otherwise, there is no love - only lust. Similarly, bhakti means, when this word used, bhakti-yoga, that is only in relationship with the bhakta, or devotee, and Bhagavan. That is called bhakti-yoga
M

- Narayana does not speak personally, but Krsna, or Vasudeva, does, as in Bhagavad-gita for example. Therefore, to follow the direction of Bhagavad-gita means to surrender unto Krsna, and to surrender in this way is the highest perfection of bhakti-yoga
- No illicit sex, no intoxication, no gambling, no meat-eating. This is renouncement. So this renouncement and knowledge can be acquired, simply this method of bhakti-yoga, what is that? Thinking of Krsna

- Once one is engaged in the spiritual activities of bhakti-yoga, one does not fall down. Our Krsna consciousness movement is therefore an attempt to engage everyone always in spiritual activity, by which one becomes transcendental to material actions
- One can attain this stage of perfection (no birth, old age, disease and death) very easily by his individual effort. He can simply follow, in his own home, the prescribed method of bhakti-yoga. This method, under proper guidance, is simple and enjoyable
- One can easily attain all the results that are derived from the studies of the Vedas, performances of sacrifice, practices of penance and offerings of charities simply by the unilateral performance of devotional service, technically known as bhakti-yoga

- One is then (by the method of bhakti-yoga) situated in the permanent existence of the soul, with full knowledge of transcendental loving service for the Lord
- One may be elevated to the heavenly planets or may realize himself as Brahman, but that is not the end of realization. One must realize the position of the Supreme Personality of Godhead by bhakti-yoga; then real perfection of life is attained
- One may begin practicing any sort of yoga, either the eightfold yoga system of the jnana-yoga system, means speculating philosophically, and the bhakti-yoga system, devotional service. But if one fails to complete the yoga system, what is the result
- One must understand one's relationship with God and then act accordingly. This is bhagavata-dharma. Bhagavata-dharma means bhakti-yoga
- One ordinarily does not begin to practice bhakti-yoga unless he has practiced it in previous births. Moreover, one can begin bhakti-yoga only by the mercy of the spiritual master and Krsna

- One's consciousness is the cause of material bondage, but if this consciousness is purified by bhakti-yoga, one can then understand the falsity of his upadhi, his designations as Indian, American, Hindu, Muslim, Christian and so on
- Only persons who are completely free from the contamination of sense gratification can execute bhakti-yoga, or the process of devotional service, very purely
- Other knowledge, being devoid of bhakti-yoga or satisfaction of the Lord, cannot lead one back to the kingdom of God, which means that it cannot even offer salvation
- Others may practice different patterns of yoga, and we can understand that everyone is trying to pass on the path of yoga, but bhakti yoga is the ultimate goal
- Our false appetite for enjoyment and lordship of the material world is due to a prominence of passion and ignorance. By bhakti-yoga these two qualities are diminished, and one becomes situated in the mode of goodness
P
- Pariksit and Sukadeva Gosvami might seem to be opposites, but basically they were both unalloyed pure devotees of the Lord. When such devotees are assembled together, there can be no topics save discussions of the glories of the Lord, or bhakti-yoga
- Pariksit Maharaja's question was how to be freed from falling down into hell or into the hands of the Yamadutas. In reply, Sukadeva Gosvami is citing this old historical example (of Ajamila) to convince Pariksit Maharaja of the potency of bhakti-yoga
- People are working hard day and night to enjoy some results. A person in bhakti-yoga works hard day and night but offers the results to Krsna
- People should try to attain that perfect transcendental position so that he is fully satisfied, no more want. So that is called bhakti-yoga, and we are teaching and propagating this bhakti-yoga

- Persons who are in full Krsna consciousness, engaged in devotional service to the Lord, are called bhakti-yogis. Now, here (in BG 12.5) the difference between jnana-yoga and bhakti-yoga is definitely expressed. BG 1972 purports

- Practically everyone can see that you Western boys and girls, so many anarthas you practice, but as soon as you come to bhakti-yoga, everything is finished
- Prahlada Maharaja is recommending how to begin bhakti-yoga. Bhakti-yoga, the first beginning is adau gurvasrayam, as Rupa Gosvami recommends. Adau gurvasrayam, the beginning
- Prajapati Daksa saw Narada before him because Narada had personally come to deliver him. Narada Muni took the opportunity to approach Prajapati Daksa in his bereavement because the time of bereavement is a suitable time for appreciating bhakti-yoga
- Pure devotion has no connection with jnana and karma. The Lord has spoken about bhakti-yoga in the middle. Just like there is a book, it has covers on both sides and in the middle there is substance
R
- Rather than worship God to increase one's opulence in the material world, one should become free from material attachment. For bhakti-yoga, therefore, we should be detached

- Real devotees of bhakti-yoga accept only the material necessities of life absolutely needed to maintain the body and soul together; they refrain completely from all exaggerated material sense gratification

- Regarding the remarks of Prof. Jean Herbert, in Bhagavad-gita we find no instruction except devotional service or bhakti yoga
- Regular reading or hearing of Srimad-Bhagavatam is also performance of bhakti-yoga, and one can attain the highest perfection simply by the association of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Rendering service to Krsna twenty-four hours daily is called bhakti-yoga, and that is real samadhi
S
- Sa gunan samatityaitan brahma-bhuyaya kalpate (BG 14.26). For every item in the yoga system there is a parallel activity in bhakti-yoga, but practice of bhakti-yoga is easier for this age. What was introduced by Lord Caitanya is not a new interpretation
- Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya has explained bhakti-yoga as vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga (CC Madhya 6.254). Bhakti-yoga begins when we accept Krsna's instructions - Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me
- SB 1.2.7: "By rendering devotional service unto the Sri Krsna, one immediately acquires causeless knowledge & detachment from the world." To be situated on the platform of pure religion, one should perform bhakti-yoga in relationship with Krsna, Vasudeva
- Serious students of yoga, practice it seriously, and thus they attain the highest perfection in bhakti-yoga, as stated in Bhagavad-gita (6.47): yoginam api sarvesam, mad-gatenantaratmana, sraddhavan bhajate yo mam, sa me yuktatamo matah
- She (Devahuti) remained at home and began to practice bhakti-yoga as it was instructed by her great son, Kapila Muni, and because of her practice of bhakti-yoga, the entire home became just like a flower crown on the River Sarasvati
- Simply by the activities of bhakti-yoga, he (one with limited senses) can understand that the Lord and His activities are always transcendental
- Simply by thinking, "I have become liberated," and I am handicapped by so many bad habits, that is not liberation. That is simply mental concoction. Real liberation is bhakti-yoga
- Since I have come to America in the last year (September 1965) I have traveled many parts of the country and some of the local papers have published articles on me and they have designated me as the Ambassador of Bhaktiyoga
- Since impersonalists who do not have perfect spiritual knowledge cannot understand the principles of bhakti-yoga, they must be classified among the nondevotees who are against the Krsna consciousness movement
- Since the Lord is very kind to everyone, the impersonalists, who accept bhakti as the means of merging in the existence of the Lord in His impersonal brahmajyoti, are also awarded their desired destination. He has assured everyone in the Bhagavad-gita
- So Krsna consciousness is that. If you are actually serious to go to the spiritual world, take the bhakti-yoga process. Therefore Krsna is preaching personally bhakti-yoga
- So long one is not a devotee, one who is not on the transcendental platform, this equal vision is not possible. It is crippled, all crippled. Therefore bhakti-yoga should be animitta, ahaituki. These words are used
- So the science of bhakti-yoga, of worshiping the Lord, glorifying the Lord, hearing the Srimad-Bhagavatam from the right sources and being always in the association of pure devotees, should be adopted in earnestness
- So-called great leaders of human society are stubborn rebels against the supremacy of the Lord because they are ignorant of this great knowledge of bhakti-yoga & are always engaged in ignoble acts of sense gratification, bewildered by the external energy

- Someone is thinking that "By executing bhakti-yoga, I shall become merged into the body of the Supreme." There are many. Superficially, they appear to be bhakti-yogis, but at heart, they are nirbheda-brahmanusandhana
- Sometimes when bhakti-yoga, Krsna consciousness, is preached to the common man, people argue, "Where is Krsna? Where is God? Can you show Him to us?" In this verse (SB 8.3.26) the answer is given
- Spiritual activities means devotional service. Spiritual activities mean devotional service, activities in relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Bhakti-yoga
- Spiritual activities other than bhakti-yoga are divided into three categories - speculative activity conducted by the jnana-sampradaya (learned scholars), fruitive activity conducted by the general populace according to Vedic regulations
- Spiritual activities other than bhakti-yoga are divided into three categories - the activities of transcendentalists not engaged in devotional service
- Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur has summarized this Second Chapter of the Bhagavad-gita as being the contents for the whole text. In the Bhagavad-gita, the subject matters are karma-yoga, jnana-yoga, and bhakti-yoga. BG 1972 purports
- Srila Jiva Gosvami has directly accepted that the highest destination is bhakti-yoga, by which one accepts the transcendental loving service of the Lord. Those who accept the path of bhakti-yoga are the factual paramahamsas
- Srila Madhva Muni remarks in this connection that by practicing bhakti-yoga one can become free from all sinful reactions. Even a brahma-sapa, or curse by a brahmana, which cannot be overcome by any other means, can be overcome by bhakti-yoga
- Srila Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya has said, vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga (CC Madhya 6.254). Vairagya-vidya and bhakti-yoga are parallel lines. One is essential for understanding the other
- Srimad-Bhagavatam is mainly full of the narrations of the activities of the Supreme Unlimited, and therefore it is the science of bhakti-yoga, or the devotional service of the Lord
- Such activities (jnana and yoga) help one to reach the stage of bhakti-yoga after many, many years
- Such philosophers (the Mimamsaka philosophers) do not accept the Vedic principle of bhakti-yoga. Instead, they give stress to following one's prescribed duty
- Suppose one has taken to Krsna consciousness, bhakti-yoga. So if he can execute properly, then: Then he will understand what is God, what is kingdom of God. And after death, he shall enter into the kingdom of God. So this is the only shelter

- That alone (preaching bhakti-yoga) can save the people from the control of maya, or the material nature represented by kala, karma and guna, as described above. The Bhagavad-gita (BG 14.26) confirms this definitely
- That is the philosophy of acintya-bhedabheda, simultaneous oneness and difference. The living entity cannot enjoy life in opposition to the Supreme Lord; he has to dovetail his activities with the Lord by practicing bhakti-yoga

- The determined faith (in Supreme Lord) is called drdha-vrata, & it is the beginning of bhakti-yoga or transcendental loving service. That is the verdict of all scriptures. This Seventh Chapter of the Gita is the substance of that conviction. BG 1972 pur

- The highest perfectional project of philanthropic activities is to engage everyone in the act of preaching bhakti-yoga all over the world

- The jnana process theoretically speculates about the reality of the soul. But bhakti-yoga factually engages the spirit soul in activities. The perception of matter is transcended to still subtler states of the senses
- The King of the elephants, Gajendra, said, adhyatmika-yoga-gamyam, indicating that unless one is situated on this transcendental platform (bhakti-yoga), one cannot approach the Supreme Lord
- The living entity is seeking happiness life after life, but he can make a solution to all his problems simply by practicing bhakti-yoga. Then he immediately becomes eligible to return home, back to Godhead
- The living entity's spiritual position is as good as gold, as good as Krsna in quality. The difference of individuality continues, otherwise there is no question of bhakti-yoga. BG 1972 purports

- The Lord is described here (in SB 3.29.5) as yoga-bhaskara, the sun of the system of all yoga. Devahuti has already requested her glorious son (Kapiladeva) to describe bhakti-yoga, and the Lord has described bhakti-yoga as the ultimate yoga system
- The Lord says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.65), man-mana bhava mad-bhaktah: "Always think of Me." It doesn't matter which way one thinks; the very thought of the Personality of Godhead is the basic principle of bhakti-yoga
- The Lord says in Bhagavad-gita (BG 6.47): Of all yogis, he who always abides in Me (Krsna) with great faith, worshiping Me in transcendental loving service, is most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all
- The Mayavadi, they are simply trying to be negative. There is no positive engagement. But here in the bhakti-yoga, negative is there and positive is there
- The means of jnana and yoga and other allied disciplines are not independent in delivering a performer. Such activities help one to reach the stage of bhakti-yoga after many, many years
- The mind has to be fixed at the eternal lotus feet of the Supreme Lord. Sa vai manah krsna-padaravindayoh (SB 9.4.18). One has to fix the mind at the lotus feet of Krsna; then everything will be very nice. The seriousness of bhakti-yoga is stressed

- The point is that anyone who accepts the principle of bhakti-yoga and accepts the Supreme Lord as the summum bonum of life, as the highest target, the ultimate goal, can approach the Lord in the spiritual sky. BG 1972 Introduction
- The potency of bhakti-yoga begins simply with the chanting of the Lord's name
- The power of creation by Lord Brahma was also achieved by bhakti-yoga
- The previous verses (previous to SB 6.16.25) described the Brahman and Paramatma features of the Absolute Truth. Now this prayer is offered in bhakti-yoga to the Absolute Supreme Person
- The primary practice of bhakti-yoga will cause the seed already sowed in heart to sprout, and by a regular watering process, as mentioned above, the bhakti-yoga creeper will begin to grow
- The prime symptom of one who has become a spiritual master in disciplic succession is that he is one hundred percent fixed in bhakti-yoga
- The principles of bhakti-yoga-sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam/ arcanam vandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam (SB 7.5.23) - are the only means by which perfection can be attained
- The process by which one can return home, back to Godhead, is bhakti-yoga, sometimes called sanatana-dharma
- The process of meditation recommended herein (in 2.2.12) is bhakti-yoga, or the process of devotional service after one is liberated from the material conditions. Jnana-yoga is the process of liberation from the material conditions
- The qualities or qualifications described herein are quoted from SB 3.33.7 and were spoken by Devahuti, the mother of Kapiladeva, when she understood the influence of devotional service (bhakti-yoga). In this way Devahuti praised the devotee
- The real aim is bhakti-yoga. Just like different steps. You are on the first step, and other is on the second step, and other is on the third step, and other is on the fourth step. But the ultimate goal is bhakti-yoga
- The real meditation means to think of Krsna. Man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru (BG 18.65). That is real meditation. So in this way, if we engage our life, that means bhakti-yoga, then Krsna reveals
- The real purpose of all processes of transcendental realization - jnana-yoga, dhyana-yoga or bhakti-yoga - is to arrive at the point of devotional service
- The real Sankhya philosophy, propounded by Kapiladeva, is transcendental to the twenty-four elements and material activity. Thus in this Sankhya philosophy, which is actually bhakti-yoga, there is no desire for material benefits
- The real yoga system is to divert the mind towards God, to control the mind from material engagement and divert it to spiritual engagement, or bhakti-yoga
- The resultant actions of karma and jnana are so insignificant to a devotee situated on the transcendental platform that he is not in the least interested in them. Bhakti-yoga is sufficient to give the bhakta all happiness
- The sanatana-dharma means this bhakti-yoga. Because we have forgotten. Everyone is trying to become God. Now practice here how to become a servant of God
- The sastras instruct us to aim for sreyas and not be captivated by preyas. The supreme sreyas is bhakti-yoga
- The secondary information of the kingdom of God explains that anyone able to reach that kingdom by adoption of the civilization of the soul proper, or, in other words, by the method of bhakti-yoga, attains the highest perfection of life
- The service of the Lord through purified senses is called bhakti-yoga, or devotional service. The sincere devotee is always helped by the Supersoul, who resides within the heart of every living entity
- The sex desire is diminished along with its various forms by the process of bhakti-yoga because bhakti-yoga automatically, by the grace of God, effectively results in knowledge and renunciation, even if the devotee is not materially very well educated
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam says again and again that without attainment of the status of bhakti-yoga, all the activities of human society are to be considered absolute failures only
- The supermost of transcendental realization is bhakti-yoga or Krsna consciousness, the direct method. BG 1972 purports
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead advised the two doorkeepers, Jaya and Vijaya, that by dint of bhakti-yoga in anger they would be delivered from the curses of the Four Kumaras
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is realized by pure devotees who act in the transcendental existence of bhakti-yoga. He is the bestower of uncontaminated happiness and is the master of the transcendental world. Therefore I offer my respect unto Him
- The system of bhakti-yoga makes one eligible to enter Hari-dhama, the system of jnana-yoga makes one eligible to enter Mahesa-dhama
- The topmost yogi is he who constantly thinks of Krsna within himself and chants the glories of the Lord. This system of bhakti-yoga has been existing from time immemorial and is now continuing in this Krsna consciousness movement
- The trouble accepted in executing bhakti-yoga is transcendental happiness from the very beginning, whereas the trouble of penance in other processes of self-realization, without any Vaikuntha realization, ends in trouble only and nothing more
- The ultimate cause, the supreme cause of creation, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who can be understood only by bhakti-yoga
- The ultimate conclusion is that one must surrender to the principles of bhakti-yoga, for then one will gradually attain liberation. No other method of liberation from the material struggle is at all possible
- The understanding derived from bhakti-yoga is complete, and even if partially executed, it has potency. It is also recommended by the great mahajanas like Lord Brahma, Lord Siva and Kapiladeva
- The unsuccessful yogi is born into a family of righteous people or into a family of rich aristocracy. - Thus if one fails to perfect his bhakti-yoga, he is given another chance in the next life
- The whole aim of bhakti-yoga is to satisfy Visnu. Yajnaih sankirtana-prayaih: Visnu, Krsna, came Himself as Caitanya Mahaprabhu to teach us the way of sankirtana
- The whole Krsna consciousness movement means vairagya-vidya, the education of vairagya, detachment. Vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yogam. Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Krsna, and He wanted to teach the people this vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yogam
- The word eva is added, indicating that one must execute activities in such a way. Unless one adds devotional service to all activities, he cannot achieve desired result, but when bhakti-yoga is prominent in every activity, then the ultimate goal is sure
- The word sva-dharmam indicates that the system of varnasrama - which indicates the occupational duties of the brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra and which is the perfect institution for humanity - must be supported by bhakti-yoga
- The word yoga-sankhyayoh is very important. Yoga means bhakti-yoga because yogis also accept the existence of the all-pervading Supreme Soul and try to see that Supreme Soul within their hearts
- The words bhakti-yogena caiva hi mean that whatever is to be performed whether yoga or sacrifice or fruitive activity or study of Vedic literature or philosophical research or acceptance of the renounced order of life, is to be executed in bhakti-yoga
- The words explicitly used here (in SB 3.25.43) are yuktena bhakti-yogena
- Theorizing as if devotional service were subject to their mental speculation, both kinds of Mayavadi impersonalists conclude that the subject matter of bhakti-yoga is a creation of maya and that Krsna, devotional service and the devotee are also maya
- There are different methods of self-realization. But here (in SB 3.25.29) Devahuti especially refers to the bhakti-yoga system, which has already been primarily explained by the Lord
- There are different types of yoga, of which bhakti-yoga is the best. In other yoga systems, one must undergo various processes before attaining perfection, but bhakti-yoga is direct
- There are many impediments, especially in this age of hypocrisy, to practicing hatha-yoga, dhyana-yoga, and jnana-yoga, but there is no such problem in executing karma-yoga or bhakti-yoga. BG 1972 purports
- There are many indirect methods for deliverance from the clutches of material existence, but none of them is as easy and auspicious as bhakti-yoga
- There are many isvaras, controllers, but the supreme isvara is Krsna. As soon as one attains this realization, he has attained perfect knowledge, and he renders service in bhakti-yoga
- There are three kinds of yoga, namely bhakti-yoga, jnana-yoga and astanga-yoga. Devotees, jnanis and yogis all try to get out of the material entanglement
- There are twelve authorities following the Sankhya philosophy, or bhakti-yoga, and these include Lord Brahma, Lord Siva, Kapiladeva, Manu, Bhismadeva, Janaka Maharaja, Sukadeva Gosvami and prahlada Maharaja
- There are two ways to meet a glorious death, and both are very rare. One is to die after performing mystic yoga, especially bhakti-yoga, by which one can control the mind and living force and die absorbed in thought of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- There is no distinction between the form of the Lord and the Lord Himself. Therefore bhakti-yoga is the most easy system of yoga
- There is no profit in beating husks without grains. Similarly, there is no profit in executing troublesome penances other than bhakti-yoga for self-realization
- These effects of bhakti-yoga are called anartha-nivrtti. Things which are artificially acquired gradually disappear along with the progress of bhakti-yoga
- These methods of karma-yoga and bhakti-yoga are being broadcast all over the world by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Anyone can learn these methods simply by following the examples of the members of the Society
- These two primary principles of separation from material bondage can be realized on the strength of bhakti-yoga
- They (jnanis and dhyana-yogis, karmis) have no clear conception of the Absolute Truth. Vague idea. Even in many other religious system they have got some conception of God, not clear idea. But in bhakti-yoga you can understand directly the SPG, Krsna
- They (Real Devotees of Bhakti-yoga) are prepared to undergo all kinds of tribulation, provided they can make progress in the realization of the Personality of Godhead
- Thinking of Krsna is the essence of all yoga systems - of the hatha, karma, jnana, bhakti or any other system of yoga, sacrifice or charity
- This (sayujya-mukti - this form of mukti means denying one’s individual existence) is absolutely opposed to the philosophy of bhakti-yoga. Bhakti-yoga offers immortality to the individual conditioned soul
- This Bhagavad-gita is also called yoga. Karma-yoga, jnana-yoga, bhakti-yoga. You'll find in Bhagavad-gita different yogas. So the whole book is called yoga
- This bhakti-yoga is the topmost educational system, and it is open for everyone
- This bhakti-yoga means vairagya-vidya, how to become detached. That is the test. "Whether I am making progress in the bhakti-yoga?" - the test is within yourself. You haven't got to take a certificate from others
- This Hari-kirtana is the best yoga bhakti-yoga. You just follow our regulative principles and teach others and you will be successful, without any doubt

- This is stated in the SB (6.1.15): Just as when the sun rises the all-pervading fog immediately disappears, so in this Kali-yuga, by the process of bhakti-yoga - especially by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra - all one's sins are eradicated
- This is the beginning of bhakti-yoga. If we conduct business and earn money, we should spend it for Krsna. This is a form of bhakti

- This is the test, that anyone who is supposed to be advancing in devotional service, bhakti-yoga, the test will be how much he has awakened his intense desire for hearing about Krsna. That is the test
- This is yoga system: bhakti-yoga. Yoga means to connect, to add, yoga. So at the present moment we are almost disconnected. Not exactly disconnected; forgotten our relationship with Krsna, or God
- This Krsna conscious yoga system cannot be practiced by an ordinary man who has no attachment for Krsna, for it is a different system, and the topmost - bhakti-yoga
- This Krsna consciousness movement is meant for giving education to the people of this sankhya-yoga system or bhakti-yoga system, because it is the recommended process by authorities
- This method (bhakti-yoga) includes nine items: hearing, chanting, remembering, serving, worshiping the Deity, praying, carrying out orders, serving Krsna as friend and sacrificing everything for Him

- This paramahamsa stage is the highest perfectional stage in bhakti-yoga, the process of devotional service to the Supreme Lord
- This passage (of CC Adi 8.19) is a quotation from Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 5.6.18). While Sukadeva Gosvami was describing the character of Rsabhadeva, he distinguished between bhakti-yoga and liberation by reciting this verse
