Ungrateful (Conv. and Letters)

Conversations and Morning Walks

1973 Conversations and Morning Walks

If you have worked whole life for Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa is not ungrateful. He'll give you.
Room Conversation -- September 18, 1973, Bombay:

Guest (2): This is very nice.

Prabhupāda: Eh? Yes. Simply if you can... Just like Ajāmila. He simply chanted, "Nārāyaṇa." Svalpam apy asya dharmasya trāyate mahato bhayāt. He was saved from the greatest danger. So this human form of life should be so trained up that at the time of death you can remember Kṛṣṇa, "Kṛṣṇa, now you can judge what I have done for you, and what you have done for me." Then give me that place. That's it." That... If you have worked whole life for Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa is not ungrateful. He'll give you.

1975 Conversations and Morning Walks

You want to be guru-druha?
Morning Walk -- July 6, 1975, Chicago:

Dhīra Kṛṣṇa: In what connection do the Gosvāmīs use that example to illustrate?

Prabhupāda: Example means a devotee will take mercy from Kṛṣṇa, not from the material world. Even there is thunder, Kṛṣṇa does not give mercy but puts him into difficulty, still, he will not take any mercy from the material world. This is the ex... (break)

Dhīra Kṛṣṇa: You are showing your mercy upon us. How do we prevent ourselves from becoming guru-druha, or ungrateful for the benediction you are giving us?

Prabhupāda: So, you want to be guru-druha? Eh?

Dhīra Kṛṣṇa: No.

Prabhupāda: That's nice. (break) ...come when there will be lightning, thunder but there will be no rain. (end)

The intelligence is ungrateful. So such men should not be given any credit, ungrateful.
Morning Walk -- July 25, 1975, Los Angeles:

Rāmeśvara: They think if they can make very palatable dishes, what is the need for God?

Prabhupāda: But without God where you get the ingredients?

Rāmeśvara: He is automatically supplying them.

Prabhupāda: Oh, therefore there is no need of God. I supply you everything and you say, "There is no need of you." It is very good intelligence. Ungrateful. The intelligence is ungrateful. So such men should not be given any credit, ungrateful.

1976 Conversations and Morning Walks

You are living on mercy of God. You're so ungrateful. You're so rascal, you do not give Him thanks.
Morning Walk -- May 30, 1976, Honolulu:

Devotee (1): Well the next proposition is that if God is there, then let Him stay there, and we are here, let us stay here. Why do we have to be concerned with Him?

Prabhupāda: But you (unclear) you rascal, you'll die. If there is no sun, you'll die. Therefore you must be obliged, feeling every moment that God is giving sun, you're living. God is so kind that you're given sun so that you can live. So you must be obliged to God. (Sanskrit) bhūtāni, bhūtāni jayanti. So saṁsanti, saṁkleśa (indistinct) santi.(?) You are living on mercy of God. You're so ungrateful. You're so rascal, you do not give Him thanks. Even the sun. In this world tax collector comes. If you say "Why shall I give you tax? It is already there. It was before my coming. How I was there. And still there. Why you're asking me tax?" Can you say like that? "Oh it was already there." There or there, if you enjoy, you must pay tax.

You are already enjoying the father's property. Why you are so much ungrateful?
Morning Walk -- May 30, 1976, Honolulu:

Prabhupāda: :Yes. You be obedient and enjoy father's property. What is the wrong?

Hari-śauri: :They want to enjoy for themselves.

Prabhupāda: :You cannot enjoy. What you cannot enjoy if there is no water, if there is no sunshine and there is no trees, there is no.... Then how you can enjoy? This is given by father. You are already enjoying the father's property. Why you are so much ungrateful?

Hari-śauri: :They haven't yet understood that the supply will be restricted if they don't behave.

Prabhupāda: Yes. That will be. That.... They must wait for the day.

Although a sādhu is not inimical towards anyone, the world is so ungrateful that even a sādhu has many enemies.
Room Conversation -- September 4, 1976, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: The devotee of the Lord is merciful to everyone—the cats, dogs, trees, etc. He treats all living entities in such a way that they can ultimately get salvation from this material entanglement. Śivānanda Sena, one of the disciples of Lord Caitanya, gave liberation to a dog by treating the dog transcendentally. There are many instances where a dog got salvation by association with a sādhu, because a sādhu engages in the highest philanthropic activities for the benediction of all living entities. Yet although a sādhu is not inimical towards anyone, the world is so ungrateful that even a sādhu has many enemies.

Correspondence

1968 Correspondence

Krishna is very kind, and He is never ungrateful, and will give you more and more opportunity to serve Him. That is His Mercy.
Letter to Syamasundara -- Los Angeles 12 November, 1968:

Maya may try to pull us from Krishna's service, and try to engage us in her service, but we must simply persevere, and try to do as much as possible for Krishna each day, and gradually it will be easier and easier to keep engaged in Krishna Consciousness activities. And pray to Krishna to please keep us always engaged in the service of His Lotus Feet. Krishna is very kind, and He is never ungrateful, and will give you more and more opportunity to serve Him. That is His Mercy.

Krishna is not ungrateful but rather He sees all our efforts and appreciates our sincere service.
Letter to Devananda -- Los Angeles 23 November, 1968:

I can understand from your letter that you are working nicely for the spreading of Lord Caitanya's mission. Just keep this your attitude of sincere service and without a doubt Krishna will give you all intelligence to serve Him nicely. Krishna is not ungrateful but rather He sees all our efforts and appreciates our sincere service. Krishna is interested in how we engage our energies in His service. We are very small, very insignificant, so what can we do? Simply He wants to see that we are engaging our time and energy in His service. And you always remember to abide by the laws of Krishna as described by His bona fide Representative, and the passage of going back to Godhead is assured. This is Krishna's Mercy.

1969 Correspondence

Krishna is never ungrateful for our efforts to serve Him, rest assured.
Letter to Prahladananda -- Los Angeles 29 July, 1969:

In New York I understand that they have sold 3,000 copies of BTG in just two weeks, and I understand that in Buffalo you are also selling BTG very nicely. So please continue in this way and your success in life is assured. As Krishna sees that you are working very seriously to bring His other children back to the Spiritual Kingdom, then He will become very pleased and will bestow all blessings upon you. Krishna is never ungrateful for our efforts to serve Him, rest assured. Regarding your question about Bhava Shakti developing into Prema, this is covered in our book, Nectar of Devotion, and there is no necessity for you to trouble yourself over such advanced topics at the present time.
