Room Conversation -- June 24, 1976, New Vrindaban:

Prabhupāda: So how you make this double color. Twice printed?

Kulaśekhara: Three times. Red, black and yellow.

Prabhupāda: Vṛndāvana-candra? No.

Kīrtanānanda: Vṛndāvana-natha.

Prabhupāda: Where?

Kīrtanānanda: He is at the original farm where you stayed. This is the pūjārī. Very, very nice boy. He also makes that nice sandesh. Rādhānatha.

Prabhupāda: And who makes the singara?

Kīrtanānanda: Kuladri.

Hari-śauri: Kuladri makes those, he's doing some special thing to them.

Prabhupāda: They are not giving me. (laughter)

Kīrtanānanda: He's doing it right now. You'll have it tonight.

Hari-śauri: He's doing it now.

Prabhupāda: Not night.

Prabhupāda: They have got tank, one-fourth of this room.

Bhagavān: In New Vrindaban?

Jayatīrtha: No, in Philadelphia, New Barṣaṇa. First-class farm.

Prabhupāda: They have very well managed. And everyone is eating very nicely. (laughter) Similarly in New Vrindaban. What is the.... I want this, that you have sufficient grain, sufficient milk, then where is your economic question? And from milk, by intelligence you can get so many preparation-luci, puri, halava, rasagulla, sandesh, rabri, wonderful.

1969 Correspondence

Letter to Kirtanananda -- Los Angeles 5 July, 1969:

I thank you very much for your letter of July 3, 1969, sent along with the cheese. But the cheese has gone bad. Perhaps you did not note it what I said that this cheese should be made into sandesh; that is 1/4 part of cheese should be mixed with sugar and fried in a pan, constantly stirring till it is almost hard. Then after taking it down, knead it nicely and then prepare small balls. This sandesh can be kept at least for a fortnight without damage, but cheese cannot be kept more than three days. It reached me, but it had gone sour. If you can prepare sandesh and send it to me, it will be very nice. So try it, and if it comes out successful, you can send it to me.

P.S. Your last consignment of sandesh was very very nice. Keep this standard and try to make it whiter than this. I had a good taste of them at today's lunch. Thank you. ACB

Thank you very much for your letter from New Vrndavana dated 19 September 1972 along with the box of sandesh. The sandesh was the first class sandesh I have tasted in your country, you have mastered the art perfectly well, thank you very much. I am happy to hear that your program in New Vrndavana has been very successful, and for my part I was very much pleased to attend this year. Now I can understand that this Bhagavata-dharma discourse can be held anywhere all over the world and people will come in large numbers such great distance and under all kinds of hardships just to hear our discourse.

1973 Correspondence

Letter to Hladini -- Calcutta 28 January, 1973:

This modern civilization is always artificial. You are actually learning in New Vrindaban the self-sufficient mode of living, simple living, high thinking, that is our policy, and as long as Krsna remains in the center of all these activities, then you are actually in Vrindaban. And the more you please the Deities there with your service, the more they shall reciprocate by bestowing upon you love for Sri Sri Radha Krsna. So I am always looking forward to coming back to New Vrindaban, and I remember very fondly the sandesh, milk, and other nice products that the devotees are preparing there. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for trying so hard so many times to send me milk sweets, like sandesh, etc. Unfortunately this last time they went bad on the way here, therefore they were not in offerable condition. The fact that you have offered them to me is what counts.

Nairobi temple is very nice, and there is great potency there. Now just cooperate with Shakti Mati and organize things nicely. This is wanted. Also you may thank Parvati for making the sandesh I took on the plane. She has made it very nicely. She learned the art.

Letter to Tusta Krsna -- Bombay 9 November, 1975:

It is a very good idea for people to come to our vegetarian restaurant and take so many nice things, especially the panir, fried cheese, and sandesh, kachori, rasagulla, samosa and in this way they will forget their meat-eating.

We are getting huge amounts of milk from which we are preparing lovely yogurt, dahi, sandesh, rasagulla, gulabjamon, etc. We have sufficient quantity of ghee for preparing kachori, samosa, and other very palatable confectionaries.
