- A beautiful woman is certainly a cause of material happiness for one who possesses her as a wife, but the same woman is a cause of distress to a man whom she rejects or who is the cause of her anger & if she leaves a man she becomes the cause of illusion
- A conditioned soul tries to enjoy material happiness again and again. Thus he chews the chewed, but, sometimes, in the course of such enjoyment, he becomes relieved from material entanglement by association with a great soul. BG 1972 purports

- Narada Muni said: Prahlada Maharaja was the best person in the family of asuras, who always aspire for material happiness
- Nobody is enjoying uninterrupted material happiness. That is not possible. A certain amount of material happiness and a certain amount of material distress - these both must be present always

- Seeing that the King had executed so many pious activities and charities, Yamaraja also hinted that he did not know the limit of the King's future enjoyment. In other words, there would be practically no end to the King's material happiness
- Sense control is very essential in the material advance, er, in the spiritual advancement of life. Samsparsajah. The happiness derived, material happiness derived out of the touch of senses, they are the mother of all miseries. Mother of all miseries

- The demigods in the heavenly planets, and many devotees on this planet also, want to remain in the material world as devotees of the Lord and take advantage of material happiness

- The idea is that material happiness and misery are available in all planetary systems in the course of time, but the highest achievement, devotional service, cannot be attained anywhere without endeavor

- Without knowing that one's self-interest is in Visnu (or Krsna), conditioned souls are attracted by bodily relationships, hoping to be happy in such situations. Under delusion, they forget that Krsna is also the cause of material happiness. BG 1972 pur

- Yadu replied: My dear father, you have already achieved old age, although you also were a young man. But I do not welcome your old age and invalidity, for unless one enjoys material happiness, one cannot attain renunciation
- Yoga means transcending the distress or happiness of the material body. If we connect ourselves with Krsna through the supreme yoga, we can get rid of material happiness and distress arising from the body
- You cannot be mad after harer guna unless you give up your madness of material enjoyment. So long we are mad after material happiness, then we do anything wrong
