This is the Vedic injunction. So they interpret that unless you become physically strong, you cannot make any spiritual advancement. So? But in the Western countries we have seen, so many people physically very strong, stout and strong. Practically everyone. But what is their self . . . advancement in self-realization? So these things are going on. So bala means spiritual strength, not material strength.
